After you download brushes where do you copy them to? You should have a GIMP folder that contains a folder called brushes. Make sure you extract all of the brushes first. | 2009-01-04 21:18:00 Author: moleynator ![]() Posts: 2914 |

Choose another color on the color pad... (you know how to do that?) Anyway if that doesn't work (wich can happen if the default color of the brush is black) then Just brush on the layer you want, and then go to colors>colorize Let's hope i helped ![]() EDIT: Boomy was first ![]() | 2009-01-05 10:37:00 Author: Yarbone ![]() Posts: 3036 |

I'm done a new one! 1 sec... | 2009-01-05 17:38:00 Author: Sage ![]() Posts: 2068 |
Its not, I tried :l Ok even if you tried, i'm gonna explain it step by step (I just want you to be able to use brushes because they're cool :arg ![]() - Download a Gimp brush ( Although i think gimp brushes should work too) -Open the file and look for .gbr, .vbr or .gih file -Grab the file(s) and put them/it in C ![]() Then: If you're already in Gimp If you're already in Gimp your list of brushes needs to be refreshed: -Get the brush tool -Click the square which shows your current brush ( a small sub menu will appear) -Then click the bottom right button "open brush dialogue" - Now click the bottom right button with the 2 bleu arrows. Now this could take a while... just be patient. Or... You could just restart Gimp <_> If you're not in Gimp And if you're not in Gimp, just start Gimp, And your brushes will be (if you done right) there, and ready to use. (duh...!!!) | 2009-01-05 17:56:00 Author: Yarbone ![]() Posts: 3036 |

yeah and now i know how to get brushes do i have to search Gimp brushes or just brushes. and will photoshop brushes be compatible! ![]() Sorry man, no lol. I have tried! Well I tried a long time ago. Oh, also guys, when you add a brush to GIMP, make sure you refresh the brush set (In gimp). A lot of people dont realise that. I have been using GIMP for about a year. Well I was, then I switched to photoshop. Now my photoshop has died and well, I'm fine with gimp right now. My sig (Current) is made in gimp. When you transfer from either it usually looks complicated, but you just need time to get used to it. Even though I prefer photoshop, I have NO PROBLEM using gimp for the time being. | 2009-01-13 03:25:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
yeah and now i know how to get brushes do i have to search Gimp brushes or just brushes. and will photoshop brushes be compatible! ![]() Photoshop brushes are not compatible, however you can convert them. :o will take some time to get used to it though, but good luck anyway, I'm sure you'll pump out some impressive things. I use it myself too and sometimes I still forget how some things work.. I'd recommend downloading and installing the Luce filter, btw. It's great for some (easy) lightning effects. You can find it here.
