A 'Paint' Tool
Archive: 15 posts
Wouldn't it be so much easier than slapping loads of tiny Stickers on your object? You could just drag it along smoothly like making objects, but Paint insead! You would be able to choose from a range of colours and.........stuff. Thoughts? | 2009-01-04 20:57:00 Author: lordflash11 Posts: 194 |
They were actually gonna put that in the game, but they scrapped the idea. There was also gonna be a "felt pen" tool which... would do what the name implies. They scrapped that too. MM scrapped a lot of ideas, I'm sure they have their reasons. My guess is that the tool progressed from "paint brush" to "felt pen" to "stickers". There were probably less problems posed with stickers. | 2009-01-04 21:15:00 Author: Unknown User |
I saw a magazine interview with one of MM's important members. Apparently MM were thinking of introducing the more complex tools that were origionally scrapped slowly into the LBP community. They also talked of a gravity control, environmental effects and the possibility of water, I don't think that will ever happen though. | 2009-01-04 21:26:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
Actually, they said that implementing a gravity control would be "very easy" and that it will be coming eventually. I don't remember the source... but thats what it said. | 2009-01-04 21:49:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |
Gravity control will be awesome. Just imagine the possibilities. @.@ Edit: Wut if they added gravity control in a Dead Space level pack? | 2009-01-04 21:51:00 Author: BassDeluxe Posts: 984 |

Actually, they said that implementing a gravity control would be "very easy" and that it will be coming eventually. I don't remember the source... but thats what it said. Well anyway, I wasn't quoting exactly, I just remembered it said someting about those things. By the way it was in OPM issue 026, on page 63. Here is an extract: "Did you end up removing many ideas? A few actually. Interestingly, the first incarnation of the create side was completely different. There were physical tools that existed in the world. You'd have to run up to them and wear like a sponge gun, for example, which is like a flamethrower, but it spewed out sponge. It looked cool, but it was almost impossible to make anything with it. To sit down and make an entire level with that would have been a nightmare. So that whole system got scrapped. There's some other things we had in there which we took out temporarily, but will put back in at a later date. Like what? We had a gravity slider you could control, but we need to refine it- that'll be an easy one to add, so you can do a Hero-style gravity level. Wind was another, so you could add a strong wind to blow in one direction. Painting was something else we took out- we felt we didn't need it because of the stickering. Obviously we had this commitment to get something on a blu-ray by a certain date, so we had to cut off the ideas at some point. But that doesn't mean were not going to do them, because we plan to support it for as long as possible. And anything the community is hungry for, hopefully we can supply." I have heard rumours from somewhere else about water though I'm sure. I'm not sure if it was from another interview or something like that. | 2009-01-04 22:20:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |

Well, the stickering does kind of work. You have the basic colour ones, including squares and circles. You can combine two stickers, for example red and white, to make pink. It's not entirely impossible to do pixel type art with the current system they have. If you combine this with some of the possiblities that occur with free flowing create tools, and you can do pretty complex stuff as it is. | 2009-01-05 07:20:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
I'm sure the features that haven't been implemented yet, are not available due to time constants. I'm sure, given time, and once they get things running smoothly, they'll be introducing all sorts of new features. | 2009-01-05 08:28:00 Author: DarkDedede Posts: 672 |
but you can make the sticker really big so i see no problem ...? | 2009-01-05 08:30:00 Author: Thee-Flash Posts: 3154 |
probelm is you can onnly put so manny sticker on to an object, they should make it like a material changer where you can paint the while object one colour and sticker it another could for what ever reason, | 2009-01-05 11:20:00 Author: panzer3000 Posts: 362 |
but you can make the sticker really big so i see no problem ...? That would only work if you want to color the entire thing. I think the OP was thinking of being a bit more detailed. For example, if you wanted to make your own letters, it would take a lot of stickers. | 2009-01-05 17:27:00 Author: DarkDedede Posts: 672 |
Just make custom stickers. Draw with the create materials, apply stickers for colouring, and finally create an in game photo of the creation. Apply the sticker. very easy with high quality results | 2009-01-05 18:25:00 Author: accordion Posts: 76 |
I don't make my own levels annoys me to much it'd take around 1 week for me to have it just the way I'd like it. | 2009-01-09 00:30:00 Author: Sackboy66 Posts: 42 |
