Inferno by Chazprime

I have a thread on here already, but I'd really like some constructive criticism so please have a look. I've redone the level a bit to strip out some excess and add a few of the MGS enhancements so please give it to me straight before I republish.

I'm particularly interested in balancing the boss encounter a bit..I've made some changes but would like some more feedback before I make them final.

Pros

- Awesome boss

- Good platforming

- 2x area

-Multi path

Cons/Suggestions

- The fire button for the boss didn't work for quite some time. It took probably 5 tries for it to work.

- The challenge path never struck me as very challenging. Maybe I'm just that good?

- Story didn't make much sense.

Good level, 5 stars and hearted.

Thanks, that helps a lot

The challenge path was initially harder, but some of my testers complained. You must be really good! But I think I could put it back the way it was before.

It happened after a little while. It didn't happen as soon as I got there. Eventually it went up at an angle and broke at the top. I cried.

This looks like a great level... I'm definitely gonna give it a play and see what I can tell you. The video looks great, and from that all I can say is maybe make it so the player knows to wait for the lift after the spring pad... can't say for sure but I probably wouldn't even know to get into the building like you did, if it wasn't for the video.

Also... throw some plasma emitters onto the boss... I know it's overused, and an easy way to make an attack, but it's an alien, it looks freakin cool and it might as well shoot some kind of energy blasts at you. If not plasma, emit an electrified custom object or something... it just seemed real passive, or you were real quick at your own level. Other than that, the way you take it down is pretty cool. Maybe make getting to the switches more of a platforming challenge.

Other than that, things look great... I'll give you more feedback when I get to play the whole thing.

Played it again. Didn't die where the elevator was, so it didn't have the chance to screw up. I liked it all up until the boss. Severely frustrating. Quit level. Didn't look back.
It's hard to tell what plane you're on at the top where the bomb guys are. I died accidentally because I was moved to the wrong plane.

The challenge path is the one I took. I was feeling like a rebel. When I got to the spring where you bounce to the beam, it was an annoying. The beam takes too long to go back and forth resulting in frustration if the player misses his/her chance to jump on/off.

At the end of the path, there was a spire of flames in the way. I had to jump on top of it, get hurt, and then bounce to the other side while on fire. Was it meant to be this way? Very unintuitive like that if it was.

I really loved the atmosphere and lighting. I thought saving the people by placing them in the hot air balloon was cute as well as very cool to do.

I liked the level overall. Just work on a few design kinks, and it'll be even more fantastic.
