Crossed Circuits v2.0

Hello, Everyone. Today, a thing has happened.

I have published a level.
Well, republished it... with a complete redesign worthy of a new promotional thread!

About a year ago, when I was a younger, less experienced danger, I published a level called Crossed Circuits. It got pretty good reviews from those who played it, but it was missing something. There was limited design quality to the level and I put the whole thing on the regular old game floor (gasp!).

Anyway, over the past month I've been polishing away - making this gem shine a little brighter. This brand new version features one new puzzle type, a redesign of my old slide puzzle (no more stuck blocks!), and a new interface that eliminates the short walk between puzzles and views the entire level through a security monitor, the Secur.I.Sack. Look for it soon at an electronics retailer near you. A bargain at $1500 (camera, networking equipment, cables, power cord, and batteries not included)!

And now... pictures!

The power meter increases as you complete each challenge.

The completely redesigned slide puzzle... I could expand this to have more actual puzzle pieces later.

There's many more challenges awaiting you within other than what is pictured here. Through beta testing of the new features, I've only had one person actually solve the final bonus puzzle.

There's even a puzzle on the scoreboard that you'll need to be quick to solve if you want a couple extra stickers

Please check it out and leave feedback! I think through testing I've worked out the bugs, but if you find any oddities, let me know!

Thanks for reading

Darn.

Looks like a good variation of puzzles in here.... I just couldn't get past the first few with the in/out movers. Maybe I just need to spend more time on it.... but that timer really puts me under pressure.

I've queued it up again anywho.

Really clever gameplay!
I couldn't get past the third puzzle though. Maybe you should make it a little easier so more people can reach your later puzzles, because i'm sure you put a lot of effort into making them.

For F4F, could you leave some feedback on one of the levels in my signature?

I played it this morning and the level was great. The puzzles were challenging but not unsolvable. The electrical theme is consistent through the game the menu was well made. I had a problem with the third puzzle pictured and the last bonus puzzle. When I made it through the first one I did not feel like I solved a puzzle but got lucky instead. I worked out the pattern kind of but when I lined every thing out I was not expecting it. The last one really got to me I played it for thirty minutes (I think that may be the reason for the high score) and never found a pattern that could be deciphered. I know there is a pattern to it. I think if anybody finished the puzzle it would have been more out of luck than anything. I thought the level was great and I will play it again. I just do not like the last puzzle because it seems more frustrating than fun.

Thank you so much for that feedback! I think it's hard to recognize the patterns because now that I look at it, I never did put a way to see how many "clicks" each piece is turning. There definitely are patterns though. Each move for the 3rd pictured puzzle is a 1:2 ratio, in that the block you are turning moves one click while a related piece will move 2 clicks. The last puzzle has different ratios, but they are there... That's what makes it so difficult.

Any suggestions on how I could make it clearer to the player how many moves the puzzle is making? I tried using hash marks around the outside, but it didn't look very good.... Actually, I just had a great idea that would fit the theme well... I'll post a picture when I make the adjustment.

Also I queued up the levels for F4F and will get to them as soon as I can, hopefully tonight!

I just played it again and knowing about how the circle puzzles work I was able to solve the last puzzle much quicker this time. I do not know the exact mechanics so I do not know what to suggest but to offer an option to peek at them if that would even work. Great Level!2012-05-27 16:05:00
