Light problems!
Archive: 7 posts
Hey guys, Im new around here, and I'm trying to create a rather complicated level. I'm stuck on one particular part which consists of 9 Spotlights. I would like to make them flash on and off at different times so it creates a disco lights effect, and if possible make them swing (I'm not creating a disco ![]() PSN: Aphroman - Feel free to add me. ![]() EXTRA: Also, does anyone know how I can open a passage, like making a hole and covering it with dissovable material, and then setting a time until it dissolves? | 2009-01-04 17:41:00 Author: Aphroman ![]() Posts: 18 |
With lights you can attach switches for "On/Off" which is as its name implies, and "speed" which modulates the brightness of the light. You might want to have a piston going back and forth with a magnetic key on it, and key switches on its enclosure attached to the lights. As the piston moves, it'll turn on or off the lights. If you have many key switches along the route of the piston, the lights can turn on and off in sequence. | 2009-01-04 17:56:00 Author: Foofles ![]() Posts: 2278 |
I see what you mean, I think i'll take you up on that idea, although it'll take a while! Ah well, thanks! | 2009-01-04 18:23:00 Author: Aphroman ![]() Posts: 18 |
When i must do such a thing, i frequently use a rotating wheel with emitors (or receptors). Next to the wheel, i put receptors (or emetors, following what i would obtain). Receptors are connected to your spotlights. You can easily adjust the rotation speed of the wheel (one complete revolution: the time of your entire sequence) and adjust emitors size to control the time during which each spotlights is ON. Perhaps this could be useful in your case ![]() | 2009-01-04 18:52:00 Author: Takelow ![]() Posts: 1355 |
well you can set the time something takes to dissolve, bye using a timer, CC made a level where he give you a bunch of useful switches, just look for ConfusedCartmanEU, and one of his levels gives away a timer, or you could make one yourself, but they are kind of tricky little buggers, you just need to set the time on the timer to double of what you want, and then you can just conect a big string of them to get your desired time. ![]() ![]() Cheers! | 2009-01-04 18:55:00 Author: RAINFIRE ![]() Posts: 1101 |
Thanks guys, all the answers are appreciated! I've made the lights with pistons, they're not too great haha! And ill check out ConfusedCartmanEU's levels. Cheers | 2009-01-04 19:03:00 Author: Aphroman ![]() Posts: 18 |
I've made a 5,4,3,2,1 countdown timer with visuals (ie it shows "5" "4", etc) If you want it, theres a prize bubble for it early in my "Collector's Workshop" level. | 2009-01-04 20:44:00 Author: Pinchanzee ![]() Posts: 805 |
