The Penrose Conspiracy, Updated with New Story
Archive: 3 posts
Let me begin by saying that I have been suffering from a case of "creator's block" since PLCC3, but now I think I can begin once again by continuing the project I've long put off.I was going to include a story that was going to be the main idea of my level but it is yet to be written, but all in good time. Also excuse me for no pictures, but rest assured that I will include them as I get things finished, anyways lets begin! The level is centered around a person by the name of Lionel S. Penrose. He was a scientist who studied genetics and psychology. Anyways, Mr. Penrose was most known for that little drawing called the "Penrose Stairs", apart from other things. In our level Mr. Penrose has discovered a secret key to eternal life and due to a corrupted experiment he now has eternal life at a terrible cost. Mr. Penrose can suicide himself or be killed yet he always returns to life almost instantly. However, there is a way to break the curse, but it isn't as easy as it sounds. For one thing his chance to do it comes once every two decades for a short amount of time of one hour. He must find a person of certain hair color, birthday, age, intelligence, and skill. However, Mr. Penrose is becoming weary after 200 years of no luck, he has found people each time, but they just weren't cooperative enough. This year he has managed to find someone, you, and the question is, " Will you be willing to take the challenge set ahead of you?" The adventure begins... Well, there it is you got a small taste of what is to come. In the near future I will include some decorations and other pictures of the things in my level. I know it seems like a cliche but I want this level to win an MM Pick so I will be working all summer and all times possible. Although I would like to ask something of the community. Hope this isn't such a problem, but for any of you who live in Britain or somewhere over there I ask if you could post pictures of the places to know the architecture and other interesting things dating to back in the past. I would do this myself but I don't live close nor can i find good pictures. I'm not putting any finish date but I am going to take my entire time on it to make it perfect. Feedback is greatly appreciated! | 2012-05-22 02:39:00 Author: Bryan_Zuckerberg Posts: 874 |
Holy crap. This sounds frickin' awesome! | 2012-05-23 02:43:00 Author: Kalawishis Posts: 928 |
So sorry this post has gone dead, but I'm not too active over here! Anyways, here's a recent update from LBPC! Okay here is probably one of the biggest revises to the level so far! The revision of the Level's story! In my bfirst post for it I had a kind of synopsis to the whole idea of the level however I then wanted a stronger story to convey more feeling into my level and here it is: In the Priory of Sion there was total of four Grandmasters who were all impeached from the faction. One of them was a psychologist by the name of Leonel Penrose. Penrose had been chosen as the Grandmaster, but due to Penrose?s actions against the faction?s highest rule he was impeached, not even nine days in the ?High Seat?. Penrose broke his oath and was to be killed, but the other members of the Priory were to late and he was gone. For now the Priory was at risk of being revealed and destroyed; Time was short and action had to be taken. Two Years Earlier It was a chilling night and the frost on every window in Europe glistened under the bright glare of the full moon. Leonel Penrose knew that what he was doing was forbidden and could cause much damage to the entire world. However, he felt that it was somehow the right thing to do. Penrose was the last remaining member of a secret group known as the Minist?re de la Oubli?, or Ministry of the Forgotten. Forgotten, because they held some of the World?s oldest Secrets, all of which the World had come to forget. At one time they worked with the Priory of Sion, but they later split after discovering a scroll holding secrets to anything the Human Heart desired. The Ministry was made up of four main Members with several others below them that could continue to hold the Secrets within the group only. Through all these years the Mimistry had held the Scroll of Life away from the Priory, but they got close to getting it recently and Penrose was to destroy it before anything went wrong. Penrose had been given information that would lead him to a scroll if the time ever came for that to happen and now he was at the place he was instructed to go to first. It was the gate of an old church. As a kid he and his friends would come here often and he found it odd that this was the location for such an important scroll. As he climbed over he was careful to disarm the cleverly concealed alarm. In a matter of minutes he would have a scroll written by the hand of Merlin in his own hands. However, he was not to use it, but rather destroy it. He was tempted to use one of the secrets within it for himself. As Penrose walked past the desolate Church he felt a chill go down his spine. The church had been burned down by a group of people selected by the Vatican for having performed unholy practices that went against the Catholic Church. Penrose could see the graveyard, equally ghoulish, under the moonlight. He looked around until he found the tombstone he was looking for, and he knew that the casket below was empty, but he had a feeling it was the location of the Scroll. An empty grave filled with the secrets of the Ministry. Penrose was sure of it! As he further studied the grave he found the name of a woman on it: Estrin Alm? de Lieu, and above her name were the letters O,B, and I. In all the letters were an anagram of Minist?re de la Oubli?! The O,B,I were the first letters of the last names of each Headmaster who had been impeached from the Priory of Sion. Penrose still marveled at the ingenious ideas that the Ministry had used to conceal their secrets. Anything from anagrams to mind-boggling messages and pictures. Penrose was pretty gifted when it came to solving some of these and as the current Headmaster of the Ministry he had most of the answers to the puzzles thaqt the Ministry first set-up. Just thinking of that reminded him of the poor monk who had passed on the secret to him the first night that he was removed from the Priory. Penrose was in desperate need of shelter and somehow this monk had known his need. ?My son, you are the gifted fourth proviseur of our Ministry,? said the Monk as he led Penrose inside his apartment. It was at that moment that Penrose learned everything he needed to know and soon after that he had to destroy the Scroll. Penrose resurfaced from his memory when his finger found a small indention at the foot of the tombstone. It was the perfect fit for a small piece of onyx that he had been given by the same monk just before his death. HE got out the perfectly black, cube-shaped onyx. It went in smoothly and a slow creak came from deep in the grave. Penrose moved out of the way just as a stone pillar about three feet high shot out in front of the tombstone. Penrose slowly approached the pillar and in the bright moonlight he saw that there was a small piece of papyrus in the dead center of the pillar. The small piece of paper brought a smile to his face. It was a crude drawing of a map with the location of the Scroll. ? I guess it's time to pay my hometown a visit,? Penrose said in a clear voice as he got out a lighter and set fire to the map. ~ ?My goal was to destroy the scroll before they feel in the wrong hands, but my greed got the best of me and now I need a cure,? Penrose thought. Penrose had used the Secret of Immortality that was within the Scroll for himself, but at the terrible price of invisibility from the world. He was now an outcast from the rest of the world which meant he would be unable to get anyone to believe him no matter what. Penrose had just escaped to his mansion after being brutally attacked by a group of the Priory. He was left for dead, but managed to survive and escape. Penrose struggled upstairs to his study. He hobbled over to a mahogany desk in the corner of the room. Now, very desperate, Penrose shakily searched in an old phonebook for a number that he was to use only in dire emergency. Penrose couldn?t think of a better time. ~ Several thousand miles away the Headmaster at Yale University was about to sleep for the night when the telephone rang. ?I?m sorry, we are closed for th--,? the Headmaster started. ?Listen to me Seymour,? Seymour Charles turned pale as a ghost as he recognized the voice. ?Dr. Penrose this is a very disturbing call considering that you?ve been dead for two months,? Seymour muttered. ?I know, but now is not the time to explain,? Penrose said, ?It is time, send him to me as soon as possible!? The line was cut and Seymour stood silent for a moment, now completely awake, he got dressed and got a key to the many dorms of Yale. At this time Yale was still active with students up studying or participating in other ?activities?. Seymour quickly reached a group of dorms where a bunch of the students were up ?partying?. The Headmaster walked past a few students without as much as a glance. He reached the door he was looking for and stood a moment as he took out the key from his coat pocket. There was much sound coming from the dormitory. He then proceeded to slide the key into the door until there was a click and he pushed the door open. Within the room there was a scene of about a dozen student bodies most were sober but some were passed out on the floor. The moment the Headmaster entered there was dead silence with startled stares. All, but one of the students was looking up at the Headmaster. The young man was concentrating on a book for a test he was taking tomorrow and had barely noticed the change in the room. He had been placed in with the rest of these students by the Headmaster himself, but still wasn?t to happy about it. The young student, named Andrew, looked up to see the Headmaster staring at him and all the eyes of the other students were on them. ?Mr. Williams, I need you to come into my office, it is time,? concluded the Headmaster. Knowing full well what the Headmaster was talking about Andrew got up and followed Seymour without even glancing at the stunned students. Moments later, the music and raucous noise started again. ~ The Headmaster had called Andrew in a while back to discuss matters that could not be repeated with any other body. During those matters had to do with the Ministry. During those nights Andrew would learn about the Minist?re de la Oubli? and the history that they had made over the course of the Ministries lifetime. Tonight, something in the Headmaster?s voice told Andrew that there were dark matters at hand. ?I am dearly sorry for the disturbance at this hour of the night,? the Headmaster said softly, ?But, tonight is a time of desperate need for a dear friend of mine.? ?You couldn?t have come at a better time,? replied Andrew as they came to the Headmaster?s Office. ?Over the course of the past semester you?ve learned a lot and you must put all of that knowledge into action,? the Headmaster finished as they entered his office. Uncertain, Andrew followed Seymour to the far wall where a bookcase full of first edition American Classics was located. ?What we?re about to do is what Sci-Fi calls teleporting, Andrew, so be prepared to feel some pain,? spoke the Headmaster as he rearranged several of the books. All of a sudden the bookshelf fell below the floor and revealed an open doorway. Before Andrew could say he was rushed into a room the size of a large walk-in closet painted black with a table where two prisms of black onyx lay. Grabbing both pieces Charles Seymour said,? Put your left hand on my right shoulder and don't let go until I say.? Seymour then went on to smashing the two pieces together. The effect was horrific. At first there was a blood-curdling shriek that made every bone in Andrew?s body resonant with pain. This was followed by a wave of immense nausea. Andrew wasn?t sure how long it had been but it felt like an eternity before it was over. When he opened his eyes he was staring at the face of the Headmaster. Andrew was bathe in sweat and every part of his body felt numb. It took an immense effort, even with the help of the Headmaster, to get up. ?I thought I told you not to let go,? the Headmaster said, smiling, ?Anyways, you did much better than even most adults do their first time!? Andrew managed a weak smile and was about to reply, but stopped as he noticed the color of the pure white walls in a room that looked exactly the same as the one they had been in first. He then noticed the remains of what had been the two prisms, now lying in pieces on the floor. A weak groan from outside brought them to their senses. ?Come now, Andrew, it is time you meet a dear friend of mine,? said the Headmaster. By the moonlight shining through the windows Andrew could see that there was a crippled body on the floor near a large desk. The Headmaster ran over to the man?s body and quietly told Andrew to come over. Seymour then instructed Andrew to help the man to a nearby chair. Turning on a lamp Andrew got his first glance at the man. He was around his forties or fifties, but looked to be strong for his age. Then he saw the blood coming from his mouth and the many bruises he had on his body. Slowly, the man started to speak. ~ Mr. Penrose was looking worse each minute and he might die! That?s what kept going through Andrew?s mind right now. Leonel Penrose had just finished telling Andrew about how the world was in need of knowing the truth that was in the Scroll when he had passed out due to the pain. The Headmaster was caring for him at the moment and he was doing the best possible to keep Penrose alive. It was late night when Dr. Penrose was able to come to his senses and in the short time he seemed to have aged ten years. Without even a moment to think he called Andrew over and said, ?I don't know how long I have, but there is one vital piece of information I need you to know, okay?? ?Okay?? Andrew said unsure. ?Okay then, I?ll tell it to you straight; In my hometown of London there is a small section of grass and trees where my Mansion used to be.? Andrew glanced outside and realized they weren?t in a city and the oddest thing was that there were clouds floating outside. ?As you can see we are actually up in the air, 12,635 feet to be precise,? Penrose continued, ?Anyways, down below in London you will find this water well, if you go down into it you?ll end up underground in a secret location; It is down there that lays the Scroll of Life.? Penrose paused for a moment catching his breath. ?You will travel through many perils under there to reach the Scroll; Your mission is to bring it back to me so that together we can inform the world of something they?re meant to know.? ?Are you sure I can do this?? Andrew asked. ? My friend, Charles here, has been teaching you for this very moment,? Penrose said, ?I would have done it but at my age it isn?t easy and I've become invisible to the world so no one would listen even if I tried to explain to them, you?re the only one who can do it Andrew!? Penrose got up and started to walk to the door, ?Seymour, you will have to tell the boy how to get to London and show him The Device.? ?I shall do it,? the Headmaster replied, ?Come with me Andrew time is of the essence and you must head out now! ? It was time for the World to learn and all Penrose hoped was that they would finish on time. ?The time has come and the end is near?? Haha, I doubt anyone will read the entire thing, but if you do then tell me! Anyways, I do think it turned out great, but I felt like the beginning and end were kind of rushed, but at least the level will now make more sense! If you read it all that is!!! EDIT: Some Pictures from the level it self! http://ia.lbp.me/img/ft/2ca68652ca96c045e7a28ec9bda566088797a32b.jpg ^Other the the knife and stickers, everything else was hand made for this start menu! http://i1.lbp.me/img/ft/051398114a724070d23edff60bbfd57ac0cb6db4.jpg ^This is the background for the level, although I'll be sure to change up the stars a little! http://if.lbp.me/img/ft/b9f8ef08023f8bec860da15bd66f44164fa76d86.jpg ^An important section of the level!
