Uploading music?

Archive: 13 posts

I've had a good idea for LBP2: the ability to upload music from the hard drive onto LBP2 as a music object.

This way, we can have levels set to good pieces of music not available in LBP without toiling for hours on end on the Music Sequencer.

For example, imagine how cool it would be to have a level set to The Prophet's Song (by Queen) or Extraterrestrial (by Katy Perry), or best of all, the Trolololol song! Obviously, there would have to be some moderation, but heck, it beats recording music onto a Magic Mouth.

Cheers!

Imagine the copyright claims that would destroy the game...

Pretty much this. Theres no chance something like this could end up in the game. Music is a very touchy subject in terms of copyright.

I would like the reverse, be able to save your custom music to the PS3's HDD. Have an option on music sequencers "Allow Download" (which would be turned off by default). Sequencers with this option on allow anyone who has access to it in create to save it as a MP3 file in the HDD. Locked sequencers can only be saved by their creators.2012-05-18 18:26:00

Pretty cool idea but on the other hand there's not that much point to it as if you wanted to make your own music into an MP3 then you would have much better results with any music creation software on a PC. That's just my opinion anyways.

The option is always nice though, and it's a much more enactable idea than downloading tunes off your hard drive.2012-05-20 00:10:00

That's quite true. Also, making a replica of the same songs on the music sequencer can also violate the copyright laws.

Would be great though, and why stop at music? Import voices and sound effects in perfect quality. But it would probably be taken advantage of online somehow... I dare not even consider the implications of sound importation.2012-05-21 16:55:00

it could work, but MM would have to incorperate some kind of ToS,
dont think it would work well with alt of people on this game though...

Couldn't they use something like iTunes to import the music and not have copyright claims. They could add some feature that connects iTunes and LBP.2012-05-22 01:33:00

You want to pay money for digital music? Then your just asking for people to hack the game, no offence.

Hmm. Yeah, you're right, the copyright issues would ruin the game (unless, of course, they were older songs where the copyright has expired...I think). A shame, but it was just an idea.

The idea of being able to upload music to the hard drive, howver, sounds like a great idea.
