Controllinator on controllinator troubles
Archive: 3 posts
Hey guys, long time no see. Having a bit of a problem with something - I'm midway through my first level using a remote controlled bot and loads of you have been there and done that so hopefully you'll know. I have a set up where the bot uses a controllinator powered vehicle, so in effect, 2 controllinators are working on top of each other and it's giving me real problems, as the controllinator the player is controlling seems to jerk around and try to head back to the last activated spawn point. I've tried mucking around with the followers to lower the speeds which helps a bit but it still occasionally jerks. Anyone got any tips? | 2012-05-15 00:09:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
Is there a reason that it tries to snap? I'm guessing you are using tags and having the follower is getting conflicting signals. My DeLorean uses the system you are describing so hit me up when you see me online. But for now, the general logic was Player follows bot bot gets into controlinator player follows vehicle bot gets out of controlinator player follows bot if no bot player returns to last checkpoint The bot/vehicle both share a tag that the player seat follows. So when the bot approaches the vehicle you are able to switch a selector on the bot that swaps behaviour from 'can not enter controlinator' to 'can enter'. The tag that the player follows is on the first port of the selector also. On the vehicle I have the same tag connected to the active output of its controlinator. Which means when in the vehicle the player seat moves from the bot in the middle of the car to the front bumper. I did this mainly for camera snapping issues. My checkpoints have a setup that will activate the same follow tag if the bot/vehicle is not present. The setup always remembers the last triggered checkpoint but will only activate the follow tag through an AND gate and an inverted bot present sensor. You could use the Move logic and make a speed sensor tracker that may be more reliable though... EDIT: bah! I'll actually just send it to you. I need to re build it to make it more efficient anyway. | 2012-05-15 06:22:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
Great stuff, I twiddled around with some follower selecting and that seems to smooth things out nicely, cheers Mr F! | 2012-05-15 11:23:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
