From Siberia With Love Pt.1: Infiltrate - pics added!

Hi, I'd like some feedback from you guys on my level From "Siberia With Love Pt.1: Infiltrate". Its a story based puzzle level, thats not to hard. I posted it about a week ago and its slowly gaining plays and hearts but some good feedback would be nice as the comments section in game are a little lacking. I don't think I can fit to much in though as the thermo is almost at breaking point! I will play anybodys level or levels that posts in the thread that are part of F4F. As long as people review me, i'll do the same back http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr285/grantosuk/APhoto_1.jpg http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr285/grantosuk/APhoto_2.jpg http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr285/grantosuk/APhoto_3.jpg http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr285/grantosuk/APhoto_4.jpg http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr285/grantosuk/APhoto_5.jpg http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr285/grantosuk/APhoto_6.jpg http://i492.photobucket.com/albums/rr285/grantosuk/APhoto_7.jpg Thanks Grant | 2009-01-03 23:34:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
I have just finished playing your level and I absolutely loved it. Pros Very visually impressive level Great puzzles Satisfying results whenever you interact with switches and the like Very very well designed Cons I had a very hard time getting both boxes to their spots to activate the water pump. Aside from that, very well done. I'm very glad I got to play it. And if you'd like, I have just recently completed my level "The Paint Wars, Part I - Humble Beginnings". It's very very short, but it was my first real experience with the create portion of the game. It sits at a 3 star rating currently, and I think that's about what it is, but only because of the length. It is only a training level for the real thing, which would be Part II, obviously. That might take a while. Anyway, thanks in advance. | 2009-01-04 00:59:00 Author: njd09 Posts: 11 |
That was a really fun level. Let's see... - Looked nice during all parts of it - Puzzles were mostly original - Most levels don't look good with visible switches, but you pulled it off - I too had problems with the boxes. I recommend either switching the colors of the boxes, orchanging the layout so you bring the blue one down on the right side - Secret areas were nicely placed and not too hard to find. That was one of the best I've played this week. Might've been the best if it wasn't for Abyss! | 2009-01-04 02:01:00 Author: BassDeluxe Posts: 984 |
My level: The Forgotten Aztec Temples 1.2 Psn: Marcus--Aurelius https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=7018 Pros: Great Story, Landscape, Custom Objects (helicopter) I also like the amount of detail that went into making the switches and how you interconnected them. Cons: I didnt like how all the speach bubbles popped up at once, but it was a story based level so its somewhat alright. The blue box and red box was to hard. you should witch the colors so you dont have to criss cross them. I didnt like how you used that half circle thing from the bunker. its a pet peeve, i dont like when people use MM stuff, however it did fit in extremely well. Over all 5/5 Superb and heart for you and level, cant wait for part 2. please try my level. | 2009-01-04 03:48:00 Author: Marcus--Aurelius Posts: 8 |
Thanks for all the thoughts. Much appreciated. My PS3 is powering on now, I'm gonna work through the levels in order straight away. Will have them posted in a while. I'm then going to change the block puzzle for the water pump. I'll swap the two blocks round if thats the main gripe Can I also suggest that people leave a quick comment in my comments section in game, just LBP Central will do, it'll make it easier to find your levels Thanks again | 2009-01-04 11:16:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
I think we all know by now what I think about your levels, considering I posted them in the "recommend a level" area. I love the way the whole level flows. There wasn't a single moment where I wasn't enjoying myself in this level. Everything is just really nice looking and really well put together. I know this isn't exactly feedback, but I just wanted to mention again that everyone should try this level. It's really quite enjoyable. | 2009-01-04 13:14:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |
Sweet merciful sackings, that was one of the finest levels I've ever played in a video game ever. The puzzles are very well thought out with excellent feedback to the player, and the level just has a very good design flow to it: both aesthetically and functionally, I love the way you can take shortcuts back to your route after you finish puzzle sections. A few minor complaints though... the jumps where you're on one layer with a wall in front of you and the next platform on the foreground layer (if that makes sense) sometimes don't work so well. Also that one bit with the 3 electricified hazards, it's a little odd to find good footing. Other than that, top notch. I also love the way you hide the intel boxes and acknowledge the player's accomplishment at the end, brilliant. | 2009-01-04 17:25:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I just finished playing it. I thought it was an okay level | 2009-01-04 18:20:00 Author: Unknown User |
Like I said directly in the level comment section, I have non cons except that the water pump elevator got stuck after a few minutes of working. I'll give it another shot this week, but I liked all that I've seen: layout and design, playability, music and atmposphere. I hope to be able to design a level like this someday... | 2009-01-04 19:44:00 Author: Miglioshin Posts: 336 |

Just tested and noticed that. It seemed a random problem. I've reduced the size of the lift, after a few tests it seems OK now | 2009-01-04 19:51:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Okiedokie, I liked this level a bit. The puzzle solving was laid out brilliantly, needing to go one place before the other in order to progress to the next. It all seemed very fluid. I always felt like I was exploring but never felt lost. The hidden intel box system was also cool in the sense that you were rewarded for each one that you found at the end of the level. I'm not too big into complicated stories in LBP but GrantosUK was able to tell his story without taking away from gameplay and fun. Now, a few things I didn't like. The level was a tad too easy to get through and I really wanted to fight that helicopter just to find that I might have to wait till the next installment to do so. It didn't really stimulate the adrenaline glands (I'm an adrenaline junkie of sorts). One thing, visually, that bothered me was there were a few points that I could see the background mountains at places where I felt I shouldn't see them. When I was all the way at the bottom of the pump station (thermal generator? I'm not sure exactly) there was a spot where I could see the back ground and it took away from the dark, dank, factory-like feel of the rest of the section. Any how, good level. Recommended. | 2009-01-05 20:31:00 Author: Dimo1138 Posts: 179 |

The factory and being able to see the background is a excellent point. I've very little thermo left, but will try and fix this. I'm under way with part 2 as of tonight, you will definetly meet, and get the better of the helecopter. I did this to hopefully build up to the encounter and to make people intrested in playing the second part. Thanks for the feedback | 2009-01-05 22:22:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Just played through. I can honestly say one of the best levels I have played. Pros: -Fantasic storyline -Nice, simple puzzles that suit the platforming -A good level design that doesn't space things too far out Cons: -the only real trouble I had was sometimes finding where I had to go next , some directions seemed slightly vauge. but apart from that, I honestly can't find any other faults. | 2009-01-05 22:35:00 Author: demon scutter Posts: 15 |
Congratulations on a well designed and fun level, Hopefully this is the start to a long series of levels. Very well made and excellent story. Pros: Highly detailed environment Great level flow with a little backtracking Helpful hints Great story Cons: I didn't get to battle the helicopter in this installment. Part 2 is not finished yet. 5 star and hearted. | 2009-01-06 04:03:00 Author: Psybex Posts: 32 |

great level, ill try to get as much as i can, but im typing from the ps3 so its kinda tedious :/ pros: *enjoyable storyline, especially with all the intel really got you into it *looks and plays great, very convincing and really helps with the feel of the level. especially liked the attention to detail such as the blinking light and moving pistons *sounds are all very well done, and match theyre actions *secrets, you had all the intel hidden quite well, and was a challenge to find, very nice ^^ and the one with your work being shown was a nice touch as well cons: *you had all the sound effects and music boxes visable, for me this took away from the level, the sound icons are real bad, but the big music boxes catch your eyes quite easiky and are kinda out there. *the still chopper on top of the building, while the chopper looks great, it kinda looked plain while it was just sitting still there, maybe make it sway or something? overall, great level and really enjoyed it, 5 stars and hearted btw, aced the level first try and am now 1st on the leaderboards | 2009-01-07 22:25:00 Author: Xx_FAF_Sniper_xX Posts: 67 |
My gosh... that was amazing, simply amazing. Upon starting the level, I knew this would kick butt, and it did, it did very much kick butt. The detail was beautiful, from the snowy ground, to the rusty facility. The beacons that you placed into the level were great, allowing mass replay-ability. When you pulled the various levers, it wasn't just straight to the action, it did many amazing things, then it started up, which was much more realistic. The only thing I didn't like was the many objects you used from the Story Levels. Try not to use Story Level objects, its better, and much more fun to make your own objects. I can't wait for the second level! 4 stars, and hearted I was unable to find it when I searched a few days back, I tried for like 10 minutes =(. I will be sure to find it. Look up his name 'GruntosUK' I found it that way. | 2009-01-08 01:36:00 Author: Kog Posts: 2358 |
Finally played it and i was impressed - i liked how you made thos score bubble box things - it looked good thats always important - i really liked how you made that communications room with the lights that went back and for - only problem i had was that i think you need enemies other than that i still gave you five stars | 2009-01-08 01:50:00 Author: Sonic5411 Posts: 712 |
Impressive! + Very good level design! Backtracking have never been so fun in LBP! + Lots of details. + The story is well integrated with the gameplay elements. + Great camera angles! It really adds to the experience. + Lots of stuff to do, no boring moments (except for the bug with the elevator, see below) + I like turning on switches in this level. There's always something different coming to life in the background... very cool. - Elevator leading to the water pump switch took 3-4 minutes before starting to move. Strange bug.... - Some paintinator action would be nice, I wanted to fight some ennemies. - One section is taken directly from the MM's levels (the one with the rotating platforms with a sponge in the middle, just before the water pump part). Always a + when everything is user-created for me. 5 stars / hearted, and waiting for part 2!!! If you have some time, I'm looking for some comments too on a level I published this week-end. The link is in my signature. Thanks! | 2009-01-08 04:27:00 Author: JackBurton25 Posts: 116 |
Just finished playing your level, and I had a great time! The level design and layout are top notch and very fluid, and the story really adds to the level's immersion factor. The green boxes in the secret areas are a nice touch and they aren't too hard to find. I really like the feel of the level, being up in the cold mountains and exploring an abandoned utility junction. The puzzles work well together and there is a logical flow from each one. I really like your scenery objects such as the little gears and pumps on the machines. I only really had a few qualms: *I personally thought it was a tad easy; however for an introductory level it's understandable, and I had a fun time anyway. *Some of the rooms in the facility looked like they were floating, unsupported. I know that they are connected to the other parts, but as a Mechanical Engineering student, I'm always on the lookout for things that look structurally unsound . If you just added a few cross-beams or other supports in some of the empty spaces under the rooms I think it would greatly help the look. Overall, fantastic job! I'm eagerly awaiting your next installment. 5 stars/heart | 2009-01-08 17:02:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thanks a lot for all the amazing comments you all left. I'm pleased you enjoyed it. It's been many hours well spent but your feedback. I'd like more plays and hearts, but does'nt everyone! I never added any paintinator sections because I only just bought the MGS pack tonight, I've just finished it, so am playing around with the new tools to see how I can put them in new levels. I omitted enemys from the level to try and make it feel like an abandoned base on a lonely landscape. There are enemies in the second, both small, large and a boss! (I think you can guess the boss!) And I know the problem with the water plant detail, i.e no supports and the background being visable. Other people have commented that it spoils the immersion a little. Unfortunatly, at that point during construction, the thermo was 3/4 full and I needed to add the comms tower to tie up the level, and add the new story arc. There was'nt (and is'nt) enough left to add anything else to the level unfortunatly. And some news on Part 2: Meet Mr.SAM, it has decided to fall to pieces, i hardly use glue, other than for lights, so don't know what the problem is, things are dissapearing, squelching (that delete sound) and falling after a certain amount of time. Its very strange. Because I use so many layers and seperate shapes as detail, its almost impossible to find out where the problem lies. Its been deleted and work is underway again, its actually looking better, more refined, and the MGS items are working there way in now. Again, thanks for the feedback, I will get to everyones levels who have posted and not been reviewed at the weekend. Cheers Grant | 2009-01-08 21:22:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Okay, here's what I thought of your level: What I liked: The story you tell is great. The Intel, which adds backgrounds info and gives you additional information about 0013, was a great idea. Some of the platforming elements are very clever, and the level really does look like it could be an MM level. The level is pretty solid, I only ran into a few problems, but none broke the level, which is always a plus. The level is constructed in a very neat way, it's a way that no one has really done before, and it feels fresh and the level is good throughout. What I didn't like: The level was very story-heavy. There are TONS of speech bubbles, and I think a lot of what you said in the beginning and end could have been shortened. People get impatient when you put too many speech bubbles in one spot, and then they get impatient. Instead you should place a couple speech bubbles, allow them to do some platforming, then put some more speech bubbles. Putting 9 speech bubbles in one place is a little too much, I found myself skipping a lot of the speech bubbles at the end simply because there were so many. I can pretty much sum up the story right here in less than 10 words. "You need to kill Dr. Cloth. He is bad." Maybe this is because I'm viewing it too much as a fun platformer and not enough as a story based puzzle level, so let me just put that right below: What I liked PT 2!!!: The puzzles are very well put together. Most of them are very easy, but that doesn't mean that they aren't fun to do. I always love putting blocks in their little blocky holes. And you certainly don't make yourself stupid during these puzzles. The description for the individual puzzles aren't "Put the circle thing in the circle hole thing." As a matter of fact, there aren't any descriptions for the levels really. Most of them are described with clever hints. In conclusion, this level is great. It looks like an MM level, and it has a great story and a cool little Intel collecting mission on the side. I only gave it a 4, but perhaps it was just the mood I was in. Perhaps I was being impatient. Maybe I just don't like this style of level. But I think everyone should give it a TRY, I mean, it's 10 better than some of the @#$% on Cool Levels. | 2009-01-09 00:01:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
Sorry that it took so long for me to give you some feedback Grantos but here it is. I played From Siberia with Love: Infiltrate a while back, just couldn't get around to posting. PROS + Good gameplay + Relaxing pace + Great secrets (find all 5 green lights) + Nice puzzles that activate elevators/platforms/etc. CONS -Lack of enemies (but the map still works without them) -Too many Magic Mouths This is an awesome map. It is fairly easy but there is nothing wrong with that because it works. It is a long puzzler with secrets along the way. Solving one puzzle unlocks something that'll help you unlock another puzzle. The nuclear isotope that you used with the 4 switches, brilliant! You didn't have to do that, but it was a great touch and it showed how much effort you've put into the map. I can not remember any enemies on this level but it still works without any enemies. Here are the wow moments I had: >The nuclear isotope section "wow" >After turning on the water in the pipes "wow" >Finding the hidden section to the 2nd green light "wow" >The satellite/Earth/Moon part "wow" >At the end when all the lights go on "wow" Finding those hidden areas was fun. I actually replayed the level just to find the hidden areas. I wouldn't have replayed it if you didn't let me know at the end of the map that I had missed #2 & #4. Nice touch! The part with the satellite and the Earth/Moon section was amazing. That was something I expect from the Story levels, original. After I got the hot water running through the pipes, I knew exactly where to go and what to do, that's a great thing. The one thing I didn't like was the excessive amount of magic mouths you put out there. The info bubble about that secret agent was nice because there was only 1 magic mouth being used for those parts but I'm not a fan of multiple magic mouths. It slows down the pacing for me and a lot of people just skim through them, but I understand that you're trying to tell a story here (a good one too!) and this map requires them. Just letting ya know my stance on multiple magic mouths. I died only once during two plays (didn't see that electrified floor) and tried to break the 10,000 point mark but just missed, making the Top 6 in the process. Although I never found that 4th hidden secret area. Gave it 5 Stars for both plays, "Complex" tag because of the complexity of your entire metal structure and I heart the level and you Grantos because you got talent. Great map, look forward to the next one in the series. | 2009-01-21 14:50:00 Author: d BAG Posts: 17 |
looks like a good level to play.... i will try it this afternoon.... is this your psn name?? grantosUK?? | 2009-01-21 17:17:00 Author: misterwonderloo Posts: 164 |
I personally think this is one of, if not the best, levels in LBP! The level flows very well, and it feels like a MM level. The level is not rushed, or doesn't feel that way. It wasn't overdone, like some levels, and the focus was on platforming, rather than flashy effects. Suggestions: First off, I think the level would be better if it was a little bit darker. Not much, just a little, so that lighting is more obvious. The last time I played it there was some dark matter visible on the cable car section, better fix that if you haven't. Tbh, there isn't that much you can do to improve! I think you could liven the level up a bit. Sure, everything looks fantastic, but it doesn't have that "WOW" effect. Also, I think that the Intel boxes are the best thing since sliced bread, encouraging exploration like items, where you can see how many you found, but without the hassle! (Can you play my level? I have my own F4F thread. Search "dkjestrup" on PSN and play the "Forbidden Relics of the Sack" level) | 2009-01-21 23:13:00 Author: dkjestrup Posts: 672 |
This level has some awesome stuff in it... the core reactor puzzle is fantastic, and the whole layout and design of the platforming is spot on. I really like the architecure of your buildings and how your sculpted your terrain... The little trolly is a cool segueway, and the chopper that jumps up out of nowhere is awesome. The open, backtracking structure of this level is a highlight for me. I love that... all the pipes and little LED usage... the use of see through barb wire us well done here. Picking up the access cards is a great idea. I would like it in a sticker form too, but that is a neat way to do it - real Doom "doors open if you have it" style. The non-linear multi-approach design is fantastic too. Perfectly done, subtle and secretive and makes it feel rewarding like "oh cool, I found a shortcut". The use of the pipe deco and the steel plating in your level is perfect. You've got them in just the right spots and amounts, variety of sizes. That might not sound like it's a big deal but I really notice if things are asymmetrical or look distasteful to me. :/ I have mixed feelings about the half circle wobble bolt section right here, with the green fog underneath. It really fits, but just seems lazy to do something straight out of the Bunker level when the whole texture set is already similar. The attention to detail on all your machines, and how you place them with purpose and intent, and a functional use is marvelous. That's your strongest point IMO. The use of elevators and simple mechanics is very understated, but make the level feel alive without any NPC's or enemies, and are perfectly sound. I love how when I turned on the water pump all these other things in the level activated, like the LED's and the steam engine sounds, and the moving piston blocks that are just there for aesthetic purposes. The camera work in general is pretty well done, with the nice wide angles, but at some parts the switch is a little abrupt or makes it difficult to see the environment. Another thing I noticed is that the scale you built to perfect fits sackboy... makes this feel like a big building, but made for a sackperson. Just the right scale, which is another small detail some people don't have when they make interior environments. The secrets you've put in the level are great, and the intel idea is such a more rewarding and engrossing part of gameplay and storytelling than a prize bubble IMO - the smoke grenade hint system you came up with is great too. I also loved the "inner workings" area too. I found that in MGS Act 3 once, and I like how you made an easter egg out of it I found 3 of the 5 intel boxes great level. I would have liked a shootout with the helicopter - have it moving side to side dropping missles or something, but with the amount of complexity already in the level, and part 2 coming soon I can deal with not having a boss. It wasn't very hard, but I really liked this level, and I can tell alot of time and care went into it and you have a great level of skill with machines and design. Just deco your scoreboard a little. Also the music fits the level and the look in the early snow areas, but doesn't really fit the Bond-homage in it... I would recommend the Tricky Business track instead for more of an espionage feel. | 2009-01-22 08:32:00 Author: Unknown User |

This is a great level! And here's my review - Excellent level design. I loved how, in each area of the level, there were just so many things to do. And the puzzles were brilliant, always challenging but never annoying. - The level was just great to look at. It's cool how everything seemed so "realistic". Buildings looked like real buildings and not just a collection of puzzles and crazy platforming devices. - I loved how the character's story is revealed piece by piece. It's a great technique. - Secret areas! What's a great level without those? - Loved the chopper. It's great how it kept hovering around you after every major accomplishment in the level, like it's just watching you, and waiting for the right time to attack. This is a good foreshadowing technique, and really just made me want to keep on playing to see how the story would unfold. Can't wait for the next chapter in your series! I gave this level 5 stars, a heart, and a heart for you as the creator. Amazing work here! | 2009-01-26 07:49:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |

+ Nice detail + Very fun puzzles, not frustrating at all -Awesome original story -The first geothermal part was kind of confusing i didn't know i had to go underground. - The generator could have had more detail *The cons aren't really cons... They're just something additional. I couldn't find anything bad in this level. I give it out of 10! I'm tired of all the MGS levels out there. This level, i'm pretty sure, is original. Although the name is a play of the 007 franchise, it still didn't feel like one of those levels without creative stories. It was a very impressive levels. The switches that activate lifts reminds me of actual games out there. Well done! | 2009-03-10 10:42:00 Author: uzman Posts: 209 |
Ok this my take...WOW, There is not much to say about this level besides saying this is an excellent level and a must play. The theme is perfect, the level is well polished, the sounds, puzzles, hidden spots and paths are just perfect. I never been so satisfy to see a bunch of magic mouth together; The story is off the huc!!! i would strongly recommend this levels and its sequels to anyone!!! This level deserves to have 5 stars. Hey man...what can I say? I'll just copy my notes... Nice custom stuff! Love custom stuff! Nice Star Wars comment 'Help me, your my only hope' made me LOL Like the info on the Intel boxes-nice hint. Nice hint on the hard jump. Let me stop for a moment and say I like a good story! I have said it before but, it truly gives purpose to what your doing. The only time I don't like it is when it interferes with game play. OK enough of that back to the review... The jump was tricky but good feeling of accomplishment. Very cool process with the Nuclear material. I stopped holding the switch (on the cable car not long after it started) and could see s small square of dark matter just right of the platform about 2 sack boys up. I'm sure you know of this and it may have been holding something that dissolved but I just wanted to say I noticed it. The message you receive about the chopper-2nd bubble-says their comm is out 'to' if you meant also/as well then shouldn't it be 'too'...??? I think LOL (if thats not nit pickin I don't know what is I have got to come up with something since to me it was mostly flawless. I thought it was cool to have that 'inner workings' area Nice game play with the Geo-thermal puzzle and water pipes! I love your puzzles! Shows me some of what I've yet to learn! Nice design really liked how everything is laid out. Love that every platform element ties in with your theme. (like the 'thermal leaks&apos Great story and execution! I gave it 5 Stars with a Brilliant tag (which I don't give many of...wish we could do .5 as in 4.5 stars) I gave it a heart and I'm going to heart you as a Creator. OK so I'm playing 2 now will post review a little later Thanks for the fun time so far looking forward to the rest! | 2009-03-27 02:12:00 Author: AJnKnox Posts: 518 |

Wow, that was a very fun level, intricated, with a consistent flow, and you managed to pull backtracking in it without being boring. Great visuals too. 5 stars and heart to you and to the level. | 2009-07-02 19:58:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
