INfoTAINER

Archive: 10 posts

Here's a new kind of level you don't see every day: a platformer which is based on a selected song.

For my first proper platformer (ie, with score bubbles, obstacles and such), I decided to make it a bit different than the others out there. Because I like 'Infotain Me' so much (what, it's a pretty cool song...), I made a platformer that fits the theme of Infotain Me. It's a electric sort of song, so I designed the level to look clean and futuristic. The entire thing is made of four materials.
Also, I don't know why, but whenever I listen to Infotain Me, I think of flying stuff. Don't ask me why. So all of the obstacles in this level use bounce pads and most of them are original. I thought up some original obstacles and scribbled them wherever I could, as soon as I could (corners of envelopes, random sheets of paper, post-its) and created them in game.

And I have to say, it came out pretty nice.

It's called 'INfoTAINER'. And before someone says, yes I know it's a real word but I never intended the name to be a real word.

Hope you enjoy playing it, and don't forget to leave some feedback!

Here's a video that makes the level look quite easy:

Infotainers are entertainers in infotainment media, such as news anchors or "news personalities" who cross the line between journalism (quasi-journalism) and entertainment. Notable examples in the U.S. media are Barbara Walters, Katie Couric, Keith Olbermann, Glenn Beck, Anderson Cooper, Maury Povich, Deborah Norville, and Geraldo Rivera among others.

Before you say I'm a nerd, I copy + pasted from Wikipedia.

Son, I didn't mean "infotainment" is a weird word.

I meant "queue" is a weird word.

Queued I like how this looks its not like other platformers where you can't see where your jumping because theres a bunch of spammed decos or just a massive load of crap going on.

EDIT:
It was fun I liked it better than most platformers. I liked how some of the jumps took timing. The design wasn't too complicated but still looked nice. I the best part of this level is that I never had to guess where to go like most platformers.

Really cool level.

I liked the desighn and the obstacles where well thought out. I did think some of the camera anges were a little too far to the side of some of the obstacles as they all require precise jumping and landing but it wasn't really that bad.
Mostly the camera at the part where you bounce over the oval part then have to bounce up and land on another bounce pad surrounded by the nasty plasma surface which you then have to bounce back up to a checkpoint.

Like Halfire said above i really liked the simplistic but styleish design and the fact i didn't hve to think too hard about what to do or where to go.

Would have liked a little more detail throughout the level but really i think it doesn't need much more. Maybe some of those circles that are around on the inside walls that are a little long.

A great fun level
