The Goonies Tribute
Archive: 18 posts
Hi there and welcome to my Tribute to the 1985 Hit Movie "The Goonies". I have tried to keep it as true to the movie but with the added LBP twist. I hope you enjoy playing it as i have enjoyed creating it. Please, PLEASE let me know either here or on the comments what you thought of it and what improvements i could make to improve the level. Many Thanks Ta2d-wez http://lbp.me/v/-61rdx | 2012-05-11 13:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
I am most definitely on this 'SLOTH LOVES CHUNK!' EDIT: SO I played this through to what may have been the end (?) where I fell into a pit after turning a key. I really liked the level, but do think you missed some good parts, like maybe sliding into the level at the start and crashing through the door, but yeah I liked how it moved through the main scenes and your Sloth design is really well done. I liked the moving pipes bit and the little cut scene to the toilet but was confused in the next section when I put the sweater into the bucket as there was no cut scene. The key section was really clever also. But I didn't like the falling block section, I can sort of see the idea you were going for but it didn't really hit it off for me. Anyways a really great re-telling of the Goonies but I personally would have loved to have seen more gameplay around the parts you show, like as I mentioned sliding along and collecting points at the start, having to platform jump through the pipes, quick reflexes in the falling block section to avoid them and maybe some sort of puzzle in the well room... But all in all I still really liked it and I think I will try to work out if there is more, I would guess there is! Take a look at the F4F in my Sig, as I think you may also like my efforts | 2012-05-11 14:20:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
Thank you for your comments. Really appreciate the feedback. after you turn the key you fall into the pit but you can continue after that if you use the grabinator. Your comments about sliding into the start sounds like a good idea i may change it. There should have been a cut scene after putting the sweater into the bucket? not sure what happened there??? but yeah i agree whith you ther about having something else there to challenge the player (i was kind of stumped for ideas and also the thermo was almost maxed out!) Im gonna try and get back on later to edit some of these things. EDIT also added your level to queue! My costumes were designed by Rubymanchild (http://lbp.me/u/Rubymanchild) he has loads of costumes and toys made from the 80's and 90's. | 2012-05-11 15:59:00 Author: Unknown User |
OMG I've been wanting to make a Goonies level for so long but I refuse to make one without the music. Your level probably doesn't have the music but I ^hear you got a hawt Sloth in there. Sold! | 2012-05-11 16:03:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |
but I refuse to make one without the music. Your level probably doesn't have the music The music is in there (from the Game) | 2012-05-11 16:07:00 Author: Unknown User |
^Yes got the music! Nice one! I'm playing it right now, but I got stuck in the freezer with the stiff so I'll have to restart. You should fix that. The intro replays if you go back to the entrance too. | 2012-05-11 16:12:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |
Ok the level broke for me at the key section, which was actually really cool BTW, but after I completed it, it kept reactivating the key placement mode and got stuck in a loop. The cutscene at the bucket worked for me though. Andy, you Goonieeee!!! | 2012-05-11 16:24:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |
"Goonies Never say die!" More things to the List! Thank you | 2012-05-11 16:25:00 Author: Unknown User |
No problem. Let us know when you've improved it and I'll come check it out again. Just don't forget to make it so your events only activate once by using a counter set to 1 as a permanent switch. If thermo is tight then you might want to try and emit all your bots. Emitting anything you can is great thermo saver, but if there isn't much else you can emit then at least make sure you emit the bots because they alone can really eat up your thermo. | 2012-05-11 16:32:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |
adding to the queue. love me some Goonies. http://gifsoup.com/view6/2290813/chunk-screaming-o.gif | 2012-05-11 16:54:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
after you turn the key you fall into the pit but you can continue after that if you use the grabinator. Yeah I think that because the key cutscene kept re-activating I didn't get a chance to react to anything and just fell into the spikes. yeah i agree whith you ther about having something else there to challenge the player (i was kind of stumped for ideas and also the thermo was almost maxed out!) Someone else mentioned it but if you use the emitter technique (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=69827-Working-With-The-Emit-Destroy-Technique) to destroy old level parts it should open up the thermo more. Your level is already built in such a way that it would work really well as each room is pretty self contained. | 2012-05-12 00:33:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
Ok i have updated this level now Fixed Intro Movie replaying. Fixed when falling into pit camera loop. Fixed getting stuck in the freezer. Also added actual pipes to get through rather than walking straight through *EDIT* fixed repeated restroom scene. Things needed IMO: a puzzle of sum sort of puzzle at wishing well section <--DONE a way to stop repeating key stage scene??? (i tried counters) <--FIXED Anything else? | 2012-05-13 20:56:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hullo, played this yesterday. Has some cool parts but a little rough around the edges in places I would use more single activated things. I agree that a little more involvement/gameplay would be good - maybe find chunk a baby ruth, platform across the pipes etc ...actually if the pipes were moving up and down and you had to grab on to the underside and swing across, that would be interesting, tricky and make you feel like you were pulling the pipes up and down? even some simple jumps and swings would spice things up a bit between the story bits. i got stuck in the freezer and had to pop and didn't get a cutscene at the sweater/bucket bit. Liked the skull key thing though and the music and costumes were cool. Also liked the bit were you jumped down through the fire. EGG Be cool if you F4F Pain in the membrane, thanks! | 2012-05-14 10:37:00 Author: THe EGG Posts: 75 |
Thanks for playing my level today I have republished with some added extras the baby Ruth bar idea is genius! Definately gonna try to incorporate that into the level! Does the bone organ work? No one has mentioned it. | 2012-05-14 12:43:00 Author: Unknown User |
Does the bone organ work? No one has mentioned it. O_o ahhh probably for a good reason. | 2012-05-14 13:05:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
O_o ahhh probably for a good reason. is it that bad! | 2012-05-14 15:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
lol, no I didn't get to it, I plan on playing again though. I was just laughing at the name. That movie has some very strange names in it... | 2012-05-14 22:28:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
It does indeed, but i think that's why its such a cult movie! I added a simple puzzle section at the wishing well section and have new ideas to possibly make it more entertaining as a game rather than just a repeat of the movie. Hopefully! LOL | 2012-05-15 14:32:00 Author: Unknown User |
