I think I know the answer to this question, but I don't want to upset anyone. If someone offers music as a gallery prize, should I ask that person permission to use it in a level, or simply give credit in the description?

I wouldn't give it out other folks community objects personally. Make your own prizes to give out. ...at least that is what I do. Usually just bits or enemies I made in my level. In other words, if you are wanting to give out music, make you own. That way, if others want that other creators music, they get the plays, hearts and respect. You can use it in your level, just tell where it came from so others can visit there and give that creator their due.

I'm not talking about giving it out as prizes, just simply using it in a level. I would never presume to take credit for someone else's work.

Oooops so sorry!! I misread.. shame on me for multitasking!! lol Yes.. definitely give them credit and possibly a nod to check out their level where you got it. Possibly send them a note as well to give them a heads up as well as a thanks to such great work.

I sent PMs out when I did my last level, and also included credit. I think most music creators would be happy with you using their music and just simply giving credit, unless they specifically ask you to message them. Personally, I'd like to know if someone used my music, but I'm not an epic creator like Festerd_Jester or comishguy whose music is used in 100s of levels.... I only know of 1 level so far that features my music. He didn't ask me to use it, but he did PM me and tell me he had used it, and gave me credit, which is fine.

If you didn't already know you can preface their names with an @ and it'll make them clickable in your description.
