Gimp

Archive: 46 posts

Ok I am the biggest beginner you have ever known with gimp, I managed just by luck to get an image I wanted into a signature sized square.

If any of you could give me a quick guide on effects like code/reaper etc do that would be extremely useful and I will love you dearly.

I have attached a picture of the program layout and what I have done :o

I use gimp alot, but i never do those noise kinda effects... so i can't help you really, unless you know what you specifically want

You can try to find gimp tutorials... on google and youtube.

You got mac?

Yes indeed I do, what do you mean noise effects? I mean like on my current signature for example, the light blue 'aura' around iron man :o2009-01-03 15:51:00

yeah you gotta ask code then...

I actually think it's just a bleu blob then smudged and blurred and then added an effect, i never do that kinda stuff actually :/

here's my sig shop: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=5742

that's what i do

How do I remove the dotted outline in Gimp?

Although it looks messy and just random things thrown through each other, I still like some of the effects (if you'd take one on its own). Well done.

You should consider doing something cool with your name too instead of just a bland one, now it just doesn't fit in.

Just save it as a .jpg file and then you won't have that line.

How did you do that o_O I never had That before....

Change the font.

Create a better background.

Use different effects.

That's all I can think of for now I like the LBPC one the best ^_^

Use layers to your advantage. The blue aura effect was most likely an image onthe layer behind Iron Man.

Also, look around on some free font sites, there's some good ones, like 'Big Fish Ensemble', and 'I Hate Comic Sans', though they dont suit every occasion.

I've got the installer for GIMP still lying around, I'll have to try it.

If you download a font put it in C:WINDOWSFonts

And if you've downloaded brushes, put it in: Crogram FilesGIMP-2.0sharegimp2.0brushes

Or something that looks like that

Keep on experimenting, get hang of the tools and start doing some tutorials. They usually have a great outcome plus you learn loads of new stuff.

http://www.gimp-tutorials.com/ seems to have quite some, not sure if there also ones which involve making signatures. (I just typed in GIMP tutorials on google, haven't used it myself so can't tell how good/bad they are!)

For the fonts just download some new ones aye, I used to have loads (I downloaded a whole package with like 500+ fonts), but I had to do a semi-format at some point (not because of the fonts ) so I lost them.

About the signatures you have created so far, the text just doesn't fit in. It looks odd compared to the rest, work on that part. How? I have no idea, honestly. Maybe a gradient or some kind of lightning effect?
