Hello all, after nearly a year of working on my Back To The Future stuff I am putting forward a sneak peak of what I have so far.

I am a pretty slow builder and with the Feedback and Spotlight Crew stuff I don't get much time to build but I really want to try and have something ready for the upcoming LBN Competition. Not to win, just to have a time frame to aim towards.

The General Idea

A large multi level BTTF game. I want to make it as screen accurate as possible. With props and such being collectable for diehard fans but also generally fun for causal people that remember one movie has a hoverboard in it.

I want to share a lot of it almost to the extent of an unofficial level pack. I have been building the scale off the Universal Backlot Plans as well as various other reference materials.

----------

The structure

The entire adventure will be a sackbot based 1 player game. The player will switch between controlling Marty and Doc as well as the DeLorean, and there will be three different types of gameplay.

? Free Roam Exploration to collect items to unlock the next part of the game, this type of gameplay will be in the free roam areas of Hill Valley.

? DeLorean Levels which will likely be stand alone mini-challenges for score.

Theses DeLorean Levels are intended to be cinematic, with small bite size play sections intercut with other short cinematics. I already have published a level in this style; 'Miserable Flying Weather (http://lbp.me/v/yzhyj3)'.

? Stand Alone Platform Stages

Both the DeLorean and Stand Alone levels will be small sections that follow the movie pretty closely in cutscene format, with the mini games just being short BTTF themed stages.

The reason for breaking out the stand alone levels is due to thermo, as well as avoiding getting pulled into making too many cutscenes.

----------

For now; here are some teaser photos.

Costumes

Great Scott, Future Boy!

----------

Additional Information

I would like other BTTF fans to be able to grab almost everything I make but also don't want it to be a prize spamfest.

The majority of BTTF doesn't really lend it self to a LBP stages so it s about making the right parts fit. On the whole my goal is not to tell the entire saga just touch on key moments from the movies, and have the Free Roam just give off the vibe of BTTF

Any advice is welcome especially what would be great to see in terms of telling a truncated BTTF story and what can be left out because it would suck as a game stage.

----------

Well that's it for now so;

To Be Continued...

Looks promising. I like the attention to detail with the sets, the signs and brick textures. Are those wires and microchips around the wheel arches of the DeLorean?2012-04-27 12:53:00

Roughly captured clip of the intro to my series. I have updated it slightly since capturing. As well as adding a secondary scene.

Yeah, I used the wires set to visible for the model. I should also thank you for your Japanese fonts, there are several places in 2015 where they come in handy

You sir, are a hero! I always want to watch these movies. Although very clich?, they never bore me. One day I'll end up knowing the lines by heart I really would like to play it, just the doc costumes are worth taking the time!2012-05-07 15:06:00

I plan to give away a lot of the stuff I built, including the costumes. Doc uses some of the Heavy Rain DLC but I hope that they still will be accessible for most players.

I am now looking for any musicians that may want to take a stab at creating BTTF music, both film score and Soundtrack music are needed.

I've watched the BTTF movies when I was 8 or 9 years old, but I don't remember how the music goes. I do have a friend, called Punkwill, that might be able to help. He is actually brilliant at music... he made the music in my inFamous level in 10 minutes. Unfortunately, he's not online that much. I suggest you track him down. Only problem is, he's even younger than me, and I'm pretty young. So there's a chance that he hasn't watched BTTF movies before. Hope this helps anyway. 2012-05-16 05:27:00

Looking great so far fusion

If you're still looking for the score, Statik and I could use a side project to give us the occasional break from printz

Hi Mr. Fusion.
Just been looking at your set designs and animated intro movie.
Gotta say man...the are stunning. You have captured the look and feel of one of the best movie series of all time (although I still want them to release a single six hour DVD of the whole movie 'all three' joined togeather, lol). Anyhow, If you like, I'd love to try and help out whereever I can (If your looking for people to help out that is). This IS going to be something special I think....
But for so far....Really well done buddy. Love to create with you sometime

Thanks for the kind words! I am frantically trying to inject some fun into the sets I have built and if you have any ideas for what would be a good gamey bit to the movies I am very open to suggestions. I have a few pivotal parts I want to touch on and make gameplay from but yeah; any BTTF fans are welcome to suggest stuff here or via PM .

Hi again buddy. Hmmmm Ideas? ideas, ideas, ideas??

Your level and graphics are faultless. What you could do is maybe make it in stages.
By that I mean, for example, afer the start movie sequence where you see all the clocks and Marty comes into Doc Brown's house, You can maybe switch to playing as Marty, and can explore a percentage
of the house and maybe find point bubbles (but you could make them calender date pages graphically) to add a collecting/ exploring element. Then at certain points (like phone ringing, or the guitart/amp) you can have the 'continue story' option. You could even have this part where you need to gather pieces like walkman, or video camcorder.
THe next stage could be Twin Pines Mall parking lot, there after move sequence and Doc gets shot, you get to explore the parking lot for point dates or other items. When you get into the DeLorean, the
'continue story' option appears... and so on.

Just some ideas for you.... Love to help out if you like

Update: Things are looking tight, but I think I should have the first instalment of this series done by the end of the week, hopefully in time for the LBN Tribute competition.

As far as music goes, I already know how to play the Back to the Future Theme. I could make it into a music sequencer for you if you'd like. Unless you have gotten someone else of course.2012-06-04 15:58:00

Hi buddy.
I was thinking of a few ideas you may like, last night while i was sittling on the toilet. (The porcelain was wet though and I slipped and banged my head, but thats another story lol).
You could break the game into 'ACTS' (like pivotal scenes from the movie).
So say Act one is Doc Brown's place. After the into movie, you get to play and explore the house. This could add an exploration element to the game. Scattered about each area are scoring ' Time dates' to find. (Graphically, sticker panel with a graphic of a callender page and date, that gives points when collected). Youn may even get bonusus for collecting other things.... or even need to collect a set number of items to progress ( eg- Act 1- collect Walkman, Camcorder, skateboard). As you explore each 'area' or 'act', there is an item to interact with that progresses the story untill the next 'Act', act 2, starts.
Like.... Movie scene...playable act 1....Movie scene....playable act 2.....Movie scene.....playable act 3.... etc.

You might even have different objectives in different acts... (eg. Act one might be to find and bring plutonium to Doc in twin pines mall, Act 10 might be to get to and rescue Jennifer before her future self meets her....)

So much you can include.... this will be huge I think

I do have the main theme, but am interested in other melodies still, like the skateboard chase, clock tower, 'double back' by ZZ Top... So if you want to give something a go...

So the first few sections are now published... I hope people like the design and direction. It does start pretty slowly and I encountered massive issues with getting the town to fit, I have to optimise it pretty drastically. Anyway head on over to the F4F Level Thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=71262-Back-To-The-Future-Paradox&p=1013017#post1013017) to give feedback 2012-06-08 15:24:00
