change a object's weight?

Archive: 11 posts

hey i know topics about this type o thing been asked before but i couldn't find anything after searching and looking at the tutorials list ETC

anyways i wanna know if there is a way to change a object's weight? and no, gravitytweakers don't change a object's weight. going in to a bit more detail.

i want to lift a metal pinball object with the powergloves. but i can't. no matter what i can only seem to be able to drag them around unless i make the pinball really tiny. and adding gravitytweakers or gluing holo around it don't help. in the end i still can't lift it above my head. *mew

PS: don't suggest putting a materialtweaker on the pinball so i'm able to grab the object. clearly i have to add that no matter what anyways.

Hum... wait! Yay, another great use of the dead material glitch. You know, walkthrough-able material? Place a creature brain, jump on it and pause, remove the brain, copy the object unpause. The copy is now walkthrough-able, the original will vanish. Dead material has, according to the wiki:
Weight: 10
Resistance: 6
Friction: 3
Metal has a weight of 20. I hope a weight of 10 is ok...

being walk-throughable don't stop you from picking it up. it just means sackpeople can walk through it. they can still grab it and other objects can still touch it. *mew

Hmm, so you cannot use it as an object to drag around and stand on top of to climb obstacles.. That is a pity.

If you need it to be solid, you could potentially create a hollow sphere out of an invisible, light-weight material, and merge it into the Pinball?

just know this. a sackperson can't pick up anything that is more heavy then 3.9. you can use a in/out mover to check how heavy a object is if whoever did not already know. *mew

PS: In future LBP games i hope they remember to add the option to change both the mass and gravity of a object. right now we can only change the gravity but not the mass.

What I would like is actually a material propriety exchange. Place it on a piece of metal, set the exchanger to "glass" and blam, you have a slippery piece of metal. Get what I mean? Heavy sponges!

I already used glitcheption to merge walkthroughable holo (colides with materials).
