Gradual state change

Archive: 7 posts

I'm sure there is an easy answer for this, but it's making me crazy.

I just want a light/holo/what have you to make a gradual transition from full on to full off instead of blinking. More like...pulsing. I know it's possible, and I'm pretty sure it's simple...and dang it I should know this, but I'm completely locked up.

Please help.

Don't you have to connect the output of the timer to the input of itself? And then invert it or something? I havn't done it in a while so I might be wrong.

Nope, just connect the output of the time to the material, and set the material input to "dimmer".2012-04-20 03:50:00

That depends on the effect you want to achieve
But yes, an inverted Timer set to Directional and wired into itself will continuously fill and empty, creating ever pulsating visuals if wired to light sources with the "Dimmer" setting.

Wolffy123 is correct: in order to make the light/holo not just gradually dim but to also pulsate, you need the timer to move up and down continuously; a great way to do that is by setting it to Directional, invert it and wire its output to its input.

You can set a sound object (with a looped sound effect) to Modify Sound and wire the same timer to it for an alert siren.
