The Reflex Game: Track Mode (1-4 Players)

Archive: 4 posts

The second mode to my "Reflex Game" series! This mode test your skills with the PS3 controller in an entirely different style. This mode is also a versus level, so go on ahead and invite your friends! Thanks to deurklink1, I will be working on two new versions of my currently published levels - single-player only for highscores and competition against each other. This mode will also feature a difficulty menu and may even include different songs to play too! I don't like doing things in 2's so there will be one last mode in the future! Until then, have fun with what I got now ^^

What are people saying about this level?

tsr13: "Fun to play! I need to get some together with some friends and give this one another try. Some of the combos that come down seem a little unfair but hey, that's part of the challenge. "

Graffiti_Artist3: "Defintely put my reflexes to the test. "

Queued

Edit: played it!

Very fun, very fast ^_^

While I liked it, there's a few things I noticed.

The sequence was the same each play, curbing replayability (perhaps extemely low on a priority list, given we're heading towards 7 million "levels" published.)

Given the preset sequence, it seems odd the pace starts off so frantic and slight lulls appear in the middle.

Multiplayer on one console doesnt work with current cam setup. You can probably disregard this completely, I don't play many vs. levels and I imagine it's main appeal is each player has his/her own space. If its just accepted as such in the community, fair enough. Otherwise a note in the description maybe?

Nit-picking aside, it's a good laugh and worth a look for anyone who likes a fast paced mini game.

This is a really fun level! It's challenging and addictive, but also really satisfying when you get on a roll. This reminds me a lot of Rock Band for PSP - also a very fun game. I was a little thrown off by the lack of a title screen or tutorial, but I think you're fine without them. I like the jump-in-and-play aspect to it.

The gameplay is solid and well tuned - button timing is just forgiving enough to keep this from getting frustrating, but also makes it rewarding when you nail a combo. Speaking of combos, it often just feels a little too random. Some of the strings of buttons are just unfair, like <, ^, and > all coming down at the same time... Uh, what? Then again, sometimes there would be a string of O, X, [], triangle, O, [], triangle, O, X and it was AWESOME to nail a long string like that. So very fun. It would be worthwhile I think instead of simply randomizing each button to fall whenever it wants would be to try and build in a little more rhythm and maybe even some preset combo strings that show up at different times.

That aside, I should also add that I'm usually pretty terrible at these types of games (and Guitar Hero, etc.) but I still really liked it. This one is an easy recommendation for me and I gave it a yay! and an in game review. Nice job!

When you get a chance, could you F4F my level In Space No One Can Hear You Snore (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=69771-In-Space-No-One-Can-Hear-You-Snore)? Thanks! :hero:
