Childhood Games

Archive: 12 posts

Hey guys! So, the question is: What games did you grow up playing?

most teenagers say Pokemon red, but I'm a bit young to have grown up in the pokemon red years.

For me, my childhood games are
-Sly 3/2
- Pokemon Silver
-Animal Crossing
-Sonic Adventure 2 Battle/Sonic Adventure DX

Now your turn!

Don't say sorry about pokemon red, it's a sweet game, I just used it as an example

Oh, and I completley forgot about melee, that's one of mine too!

Hmm... Well uhh, for me it's probably...

Pokemon Red (Gameboy)
Donkey Kong 64 (N64)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
Super Smash Bros (N64)
Aero The Acrobat (SNES)
Sonic The Hedgehog (Sega Genesis)
Spyro the Dragon (PS1)
Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (PS1)
Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon (PS1)

...Yeah I have a kind-of long list. But I've been playing games since I was... 2 years old? And I consider "growing up with them" to be between the ages of like... 2 to 7. Or something like that.

I remember playing Pokemon before I started going to school, and I started school at age 4.

I learned how to read just so I could play Pokemon, actually. I learned how to read at age 5. I'd sit there playing Spyro and I'd actually study the captions as I heard their voices to learn basic words... LOL.

I would've loved growing up real early with videogames, but besides random arcade games at the movies and a few Lego computer games, I didn't play much until I was like, 7 or 8 I think, and got my first console, a Gamecube, along with my first console game, Metroid Prime, and a few crappy games from some nearby movie store. I didn't get another console until for Christmas 3 years ago, when I got a PS3.

I'm glad for all these collections, so I can replay classics I never had the chance to try, like Sly and SOTC.

Yes! All these collections are awesome! I probably would've never played Sly again if it weren't for the HD collection.

Holy crap, it's like your my alternate universe version of myself (or I'm yours). First game I ever played was when I was 4 or 5, and it was because my dad introduced me to games. He bought me a pong system and I thought it was the most fun thing ever invented. Got a Gameboy, Pokemon Blue, and then started building up on my vocabulary. I don't know what game it was that made me interested in math, but I learned how to divide by the 2nd grade; also, I became in Spanish and English by that time, so I was considered a nerd for being a gamer.

Also, my childhood defining games:

- Pong (system)
- Pacman (arcade and Gameboy)
- Donkey Kong Country (Gameboy)
- Donkey Kong 64 (N64)
- Final Fantasy IV-VII
- Tetris (Gameboy)
- Pokemon Blue (Gameboy)
- Pokemon Silver (Gameboy)
- Croc 2 (Gameboy; to hell with this game! never has a game made me rage so much trying to beat it)
- Wario Land (Gameboy)
- Tom and Jerry: House Antics (Gameboy; can't remember exact name. Also, don't hate, it's good)
- Kinetica (PS2)
- Spyro: Year of the Dragon (PS1)
- Sly Cooper: Thievious Raccoonus (PS2)
- Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)
- Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (N64)
- Dark Cloud (PS2)

I got a WAY bigger list than that, but I'm just naming some of my favorite ones. A weird one I played after my dad took me to a pawn shop to look for more Gameboy games was this:

Man... I never really understood what the word 'confused' meant until I played that game.
