LBP Pac Man

I know it's been done before, but I'm taking a shot at making Pac Man for LBP2. I'm putting my own spin on it, though. In addition to the classic board, there will be new boards, with themed powerups. Here's a video sample of what I have so far.

There are still a few glitches to work out, but once I have this working perfectly, I can start making more boards, powerups, etc.

From the looks of that video I'd say this looks pretty solid. There are a bunch of Pac Man levels on LBP but most suffer from many bugs and clunky physics. Yours looks like an exception to that rule.2012-04-10 00:04:00

Yup, that's impressive! I've also tried making one, but it was terrible... Yours seems great (though I would try to make the ghosts a bit more... intelligent ?). Lava powerups!!!2012-04-10 02:58:00

The video posted had the ghosts set at level 1. The AI i designed works like this: at each intersection, the ghost chooses a random direction (except backwards). However, each ghost has sensors that detect in which direction the player is. At level 1, these sensors override the random choice every fifth intersection. At level 2, 2 out of every 5, and so on, up to level 5. 2 of the ghosts chase pac man direcly, while 2 of them chase a tag in front of pac man.2012-04-10 04:35:00

Looking well!

If you want it to be more accurate to the original Pac Man, here's something to keep in mind:

The red ghost actively chases Pac-Man, and the pink and blue ghosts try to position themselves in front of Pac-Man, and the orange ghost's behavior is somewhat random.

UPDATE: Progress is good; I've fixed the worst problem, that being the issue with pac man getting stuck. The controls are solid, just a few issues to take care of. Once I have the logic working good, I can look at making other boards and power ups.2012-04-16 22:19:00

For those watching for this level, it's almost done! It's turned out even better than I had hoped for. The initial publish is only going to have the classic board, but it will have a number of features I hadn't original planned on using. Although I'm pretty sure the original Pac-Man game didn't have bonus fruits (correct me if I'm wrong), it's been suggested by several people, so I'm going to put them in.
Once this level is published, I'll begin work on other boards, and probably publish them separately, since different boards might potentially offer more scoring ability, and would be unbalanced for obtaining high score.
