Into The Deep (full version)

Archive: 16 posts

Into The Deep is a level that has been in the making for a very long time. This is a free roam level that allows you to explore a vast ocean, full of interesnting sea creatures and landforms. You can even hunt for treasure! Explore at your own risk! Expect the unexpected.

Hope everyone enjoys it! It took me over a year.

This sounds promising I'll get right on it, and could you try mine? It'll be getting a big update soon, too.

Edit: This is an interesting concept that plays out fairly well. The underwater world looks pretty good, the only things holding it back being the huge flat wall on the right and massive, empty chasms. The sealife is also quite bland, it needs more detail and be more... lifelike. And for collecting the stars, it's a hassle pulling them aaaaaall the way back to the start to collect them.
The intro level is also very flat, and really quite unnecessary. All of that could be implemented better, and in one level.
Don't get me wrong, it is a very neat level for those who want to spend a LOT of time exploring, and the details underwater really are quite good. But a few things do need work before this level's perfect.
I'm sorry if I sound harsh D: Keep up the work, it doesn't need a ton to make it just right(:

^These are pretty much my sentiments. May I suggest that not every animal needs to exclaim what it is, and that you add a few more life gates?

I will try to improve the opening scene and tweak some of the scenery to make it feel more full of life.2012-04-08 13:01:00

Good job! I left the review on the level. Anyways, could you check out my level The Goo Factory? As you're playing it, could you maybe time yourself so that I know how difficult I'm making the puzzles? You can take breaks because you get a ticket to the warp room after the tour so you can pick up progress later.

First timer:
End of tour (inside building) until you ride up the robot with the blue goo.
Second timer:
After the robot you ride all the way until you burst out of the area into an area with green pipes and boxes.
Third timer: Once the door closes on you until you reach the elevator.
Fourth timer: After the elevator until you get on top of the TV.
Fifth timer: After the owner talks to you until the screen turns black, signifying the end of the level.

Thanks for playing my level I will play yours too.

EDIT:
I just updated the level with a better title sequence, the wall on the right looks more natural now, I fixed a bunch of problems, and I added more life too it. Hopefully everyone likes it because I cant add any more because it will overheat.

Wow, this level is huge! It was fun to explore, but it's very easy to get disoriented underwater. There's no way i'm going to return all the six stars to the beginning. If the level was smaller i sure would. It's obvious you put much of your time in it, but maybe it's a little easier if you can see more of your surroundings.2012-04-10 21:26:00

this level is very underplayed with only 9 plays . Please consider playing this level

EDIT:

Ive just updated the level with an easier star collecting system. You no longer need to bring the stars all the way back to the start. I also added more diversity, fixed problems, and there will soon be additional places to access.

Uhhm... So, I did like it, don't get me wrong. The idea is great, and the mini-challenge for the stars is cool too, but there is some stuff that really bugs my minor case of OCD.

As I drifted aimlessly through this beautiful ocean, I realized I could see how you made it. Uncanny circles stuck out of the land and made it awkward on the eyes. I don't mean to be a bad apple, but I feel like some of the terrain could use some work. I may not be one to talk, I'll leave that to you, but it definitely isn't my favorite.

Now that I've gotten my horrendous attitude out of the way, lemme explain what I did like.

The idea; it was very unique- I haven't seen levels like this before. It was also relaxing, just having my sackboy glub and blub as he bounces along the shore depths was very soothing and appealed to me. Thanks for the level, dood. You can expect me to give it another try in a day or so to get all those nasty little stars I've been chasing.

(F4F: Could you check out my Forgotten Playground level? It's still in it's Beta Stages but I'd like some feedback. Thanks, dood.)

EDIT: Oh yikes- my inner rudeness is coming back;

I really didn't like the intro. Maybe if you had a different way of introducing it? I dunno, but the materials, the "Hold X" and all of it really didn't seal the deal. I don't wanna be mean, but I wouldn't have an intro in the first place- it just uses up a level slot if you're not going to put it with the actual level.

(I'm so sorry if I'm being obnoxious... I really am, dood.)

Thank you for the feedback. Could you post the link to your level? That would help me out. I will try to improve the landscape , but I cannot make many changes due to it being overheated. Also , I will look into deleting/ improving the intro.

Summary:
Wow, this level is huge. I got lost, found a volcano& a sunkenship, went simming a bit more & then somehow ended up at the beginning. :/ Anyways I loved how you named all the fish and how vast exploration was.

Graphics: 4/5
It seemed pretty good when I played, except for around the edges. Like the above post alot of the stuff you could see the round brush being used. The reefs however looked amazing, and you did a good job with sticker usage.

GamePlay: 4/5
The wasn't really too much to do. Just swim around and explore, which I'm totally cool with.

Story/Objectives: 3/5
Collecting the stars was fun and all. But for a level so vast having one quest kinda sucks(no offense). Maybe add a way of tracking what fish you've seen. That way I could know how many fish are in the game and what to look for. Or maybe some sunken treasure to find. Just some thing else to make me come back for more is all it needs, then yournlevel would be great.

Overall: 3.6/5

Over all this level was fun. It just needs some polishing here and there and a lil bit more stuff do. All the mechanics work well, although the intro with holding "x" didn't make sense. & it should have been automated.

F4F this please
