Make it light and indestructible

Archive: 8 posts

Ok the issue I have with my tank is in order to make it work with treads that look real and not like boogers on string, is to make it light. Downside is its completely destructible. Is there some workaround to make a light material indestructible? Mainly my wheels. They are cardboard and while you can sometimes take 2 or 3 close hits up front and still be mobile, they usually get taken out. Any suggestion of making them stronger but keeping them light?2009-01-02 15:36:00

As far as I know, there is no way to make materials indestructible. If they are destructible by explosives or crushable by heavier materials, we get no say in the matter. This is particularly annoying when you want to have, say, non-destroyable dissolve material.

I've had to come up with a system of weight reduction myself for my mech, because the lightest indestructible material (wood) is much too heavy for the legs and jets to be able to function correctly.

Well crap. Maybe they will introduce a new material for this purpose. I might try putting a think halo of wood around the cardboard wheels. Worth a shot I guess.2009-01-02 16:50:00

I was your tank level the other day and that happened to me. Had to get off and run around with the paintinator

Did you try rubber? I think it's rather light. And theres always tinfoil, I'ts indestructible, even though it's in the cardboard category.
You could have a design that is Cardboard, with a ring of wood around and a straight line of wood straight through. therefore, I can be partly destroyed, but still work.

Yeah even a small ring of wood would do the trick and not throw things off completely (I think). Try this.

If I remember your tread making video though, you have bolts in the middle of some of your treads. If the stuff that's bolted is cardboard and disappears, I suspect the bolt will too.2009-01-02 17:59:00

Yes, if you need proof, bolt some dissolve onto something.2009-01-03 01:57:00

I tried tin foil and it did not work out. Seems like some materials dont work well with others. Even though the tin foil is light, making the wheels from that material would cause the treads to break when they rolled across the rubber wheels of another destroyed vehicled. I even made the whole tank tinfoil including the treads and you could tell it was super light. Treads still broke. Put my tank back to original with stone treads and everything else cardboard and it rolls over anything in its way except explosives.

Think Im just going to leave it as is. Have alot of comments on the level where people are whining they are getting blown up. Im going to make an alternate level for the ones that cant make it. Its going to have a enemies that shoot flowers instead of explosives and Im going to rename the tank Mary Mite and have it colored in pastels.
