The Professor's Trials Part 1

This was my third level and I made two further levels in the series soon after publishing this. Since then my style has changed a bit, and if you play through this and the next two you can see things improve a bit each time in terms of logic, appearance and themes.

It's a puzzler and platformer with a jetpack race section too, a bit of nearly everything. Makes sense - the Professor wants to test you! As the story unfolds you comes across a relic of the Professor's trials who wants your help to escape, which is when things get interesting...

If you are a poor grappler the start might put you off but once you get the "swing" of things the action kicks off from there!:star:

I liked the setup to this level but felt it diverted pretty quickly away from the initial design. I got very stuck at the part that is actually your last picture. I actually picked up the bot and threw it at the plasmafied one in the next section. I thought that your theme could have been more consistent though. The elements you present are strong but they don't seem to sit well together. Like the spiral water part and then the bounce pads, having variation is great but I never really got into the level as I was never sure what to expect next.

Twist and turns are fine but it felt that just a little bit more consistency, would help with the elements you use.

Thanks, you are right about the sackbots - I've since made all of them ungrabbable (except the final one which needs to be picked up) and added two sections which shut the player in after completing the red ring of death. This should make it impossible to destroy the final sackbot and ensure the game can be finished.

Yes, your comment about the consistency is valid I think. I hadn't really got the hang of using stickers and decorations here and might return to tidy that up a bit. Also, I see what you mean about the different trials being poorly linked, maybe I need a cutscene between each one to introduce them or something.
