BACONTEST - Best use of BACON and COLA

Archive: 1 post

CONTEST ABORTION
Since nobody joined after around 30 views, I guess my idea wasn't motivating. I'll try to find something more constructive for a contest next time. If anyone had already started making an entry, PM it to me and I'll give you points for the effort.

I would like you guys to create a very small gameplay scene in which there is BACON and COLA in a red can. It may be a very short gameplay part, as long as there is bacon and cola in it.

What I will judge
1. Originality (is it something I haven't seen before?)
2. Fun (it's easier to judge this if you make a longer playable contraption)
3. Art (in general, but mostly "can we clearly see that this is tasty bacon and refreshing cola")

Ending time ?
This contest ends April 17th 2012 at 23:59 pm, GMT-4 (time at Montreal, QC, Canada).
I will probably come to judge on the 18th, so any submission which was posted before I come will be accepted, but there's nothing preventing me from coming at midnight.

If there's under 5 submissions by this time
The reward will be 50 xp for the best one, 50 xp to multiple people if I think they deserve it.

If there's from 5 to 9 submissions by this time
The winner will get 100 xp.
Second place will get 50 xp.
Others may get 25 xp.

If people all say they need more time
I will postpone the contest end.

If there's from 10 to 19 submissions
The winner will get 500 xp.
Second place: 250 xp.
Third place: 100 xp.

20 or more (that won't happen, but who knows)
1st place: 500 xp
2nd place: 250 xp
3rd place: 100 xp
In case of a tie between 1st and 2nd, both will get 375 xp.
In case of a tie between 2nd and 3rd, both will get 175 xp.
In case of a tie for 3rd position, both will get 50 xp.
The winner will get his own cheatcode inside the space shooter game I'm building - not a LBP level, a full programmed computer game. This means he can choose a word as long as it's not offensive, and this cheatcode will do something of the winner's choice, as long as I can manage to program this. Note that the game will be out in March for free! The cheatcode can't be arrows, it has to be letters. It can give you the max level, temporary invincibility, replace the picture of the spaceship, replace enemies with pie, whatever you can think. I will take ideas for the code even if there's not 20 entries on the contest, but I can't promise it will make into the game unless there's a hard competition.

How to submit
Choose the way you like between these:
1) Publish a level with prefix (including the [ ] brackets) and post the link on this thread.
2) Make a video of you playing the gaming part. No voice must be heard, the video must be a screen capture, don't film the TV with a cam. Only use this if you don't want to publish the level. Post a youtube link here - I will not accept file download.
3) Send the captured object by LBPGift to the username pivottt. Make sure to say it's your BACONTEST entry on the mail, and give me your LBPCentral username if it's not the same. Write here when you posted it.

[B]Wait, you're a game dev?
Nope. I'm a student and I programmed this game in GML, the adapted coding language of Game Maker, a good but cheap program to build games. I have all the rights on this game, I could even sell it if I wanted. The only thing I don't own 100% is the music, since I built it using the LBP2 sequencers. I mailed Mm about music rights for it, but they never replied. This game is my final school project. Next year I'm going to start my studies in programming. Yay! VB, C and Java, here I come!

Hum, where did this idea come from?
I really enjoyed the Eddsworld toons - search eddsworld on newgrounds.com and you'll find them. The creator of these animations died not long ago... In many of his animations, cola is very important. In once, we could see a TV ad saying "cola with bacon", which somehow sounded cool. Yup, that's my tribute to Edd. I let others make it
