3D Layer Dilemma

Alright, I know how to use the 3D layer glitch for the most part. But what I don't know is how to get only one layer in front of the base three. I know for the one layer in the background you have to shrink it down to its smallest size and dilate it big-small-big-small and so on until you have but one layer in the back. CompherMC also has a "Data Transfer" on his earth that has a 3D Glitch Cascade. It is really easy to use and I think he shows you how to use it in the video Slaeden-Bob said above.2012-04-05 02:49:00

If you're having to do the shrinking thing, you're probably using an old tool from LBP1? You're better off with a "cascade" - lets you choose any layers you want. This wiki article explains the cascade, and how to work in the foreground: http://lbp.me/v/0b6hcn

Well, I'm newbie with glitched materials, but 2 days ago I started experimenting with some kind of multilayer glitch (idk how it's called, my bro shared it with me, he found it in some kind of community level. it seems to have more than 50 layers, it's just huge. In addition, it lets me to make multilayer shapes with any kind of non-custom/glitched material), and I've got a good idea about how to do what you asked for.

As far as I know, switching layers in the outside is impossibe. But, you can make a shape filling all the layers, then you substract 1 layer and start erasing, for example. You read me?

So, let's imagine you want to make an object occuping only the outside layer just in front of the most close "normal layers" (if the 3 normal layers, from back to front, we call them 1, 2 and 3 respectively, this would be 4). First of all, you make the shape filling all the layers. Then you erase the layers from 3 to deep back. Do another one erasing from 5 to back. Then, you pick the 2nd one with the popit, press L3 and you can erase from 5 to front using triangle again.

I haven't tried yet, but, if front objects can be picked, it has to work.

You actually don't have to go to all that trouble if you use the cascade, you just use the exact layers you want - no erasing needed. It's all explained in the wiki - http://lbp.me/v/0b6hcn2012-04-08 01:05:00
