Sony was doing some experiments with remote play and LBP2 and showed it on TGS, maybe this will end up as LBP3 feature :>2012-04-02 21:48:00

Wait, are you talking about, like, taking the game from a certain Playstation system... And then playing it on another... HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE???2012-04-03 01:13:00

The Ps Vita advertises the option to "remote play" Where you can pause your game on the PS3 , and resume it on your vita. Though this does not work with %96 of games. (ill try tonight if lbp2 works on the vita through remote play.) Check back at 10:00pm PST, ill have posted by then, if it is possible, or not.

According to this thread (http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/general-vita-discussion/146032-playstation-vita-remote-play-compatibility-list.html), the only games so far confirmed to be available for cross play are PS1 classics. LBP1 and 2 are on the confirmed "not able to cross play" list. Along with freaking Killzone 3, the game that they introduced cross play with...

Basically, if you can think of a PS3 game, theres an extremely high chance its been tried and does not work with remote play.

well Sony haven't made the PSP version available for Vita officially yet s it's unlikely that they'd allow the PS3 version to run on the Vita... it's clearly to give the Vita version a clean runway, and with all the new features, i reckon LBPVita could be a Vita seller. there might be quite a spike actually

Why would you guys even think this would work?... There is not a single ps3 game (or even ps2 game or psn game) that works with cross play or remote play. Only Ultimate mvc3, hussle kings & motorstorm rc.. So far I'm sure.. Now should it & is the Vita capable of remote play for most games? Absolutely, but this is Sony were talking about.. They have stated that they have no plans for ps2 & ps3 vita compatibility. Let's just hope & pray for more future cross play titles..2012-04-05 01:29:00

Yeah, I don't have any games that work with remote play, so the only thing I use remote play for is using the PS3's superior web browser to watch Youtube videos in bed on my Vita.

You can download LBP PSP on your PS3 and then transfer it to your PS Vita via USB, and it works. I've started (and abandoned, like usual) a couple of PSP levels and I have to say the simplicity of LBP PSP makes it pretty fun to create on.

Yup, there are a few games that work.... but this isn't one of them. I tried it, it didn't work, and I found a list online of games that DO work, but I don't have any of them.2012-04-05 16:37:00

It's kind of odd, main reason why most games don't work is because PSP is just got 802.11b wifi which is only 11Mbps which is just maximum since everything depends on signal power, so picture resolution need to be reduced a lot (lower then 480p/540p) and games does not support such resolutions. Now with vita that can do g (54mbps) and n (100-300mbps even higher then most wired LANs) there should be not a problem even transmitting 720p in good signal power, problem would still exist outside your network, but in local play should not be a a problem. So i guess they have a problem with older games to support it, since fact that they support remote play is writen in there manifest file on there disc (but it can be patched as you seen with LBP supporting Move), so even if they add higher resolution of remote play console is not sure if game will handle it, so it won't play it. I bet PS4 will do better job here

I got question, do Killzone 3 support remote play? at TGS it was game advertised to support Vita remote play

The CPU load is more likely the limiting factor, not the bitrate - x264 can pack a pretty good 720p into 2Mbps. It's moot anyways, cos the console would do the downscaling to the PSP's 480x272 resolution

But remote play is even encoded? :>

But remote play is even encoded? :>

Video must be compressed - at 480x272, 24-bit color, assuming a minimum of 24fps, that's...

480 x 272 x 24 x 24 = ~75Mbps

...no way you can squeeze that raw down an 11Mbps link.

Uncompressed video is huge - NTSC-D1 video (4:2:2 sampling) needs 172Mbps, making a 22-minute NTSC TV show about 28GB. Not even professional Avid workstations used it until 1998. PAL/SECAM is comparable - greater resolution but at fewer frames per second.

Apparently it does support (http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psp/current/video/filetypes.html) H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Main Profile (CABAC), with which you should be able to get reasonable quality in 500kbps at that resolution. I vaguely recall having some problems playing x264-encoded video, but perhaps I was using High Profile features.

So it's probably neither the bandwidth nor the CPU load that's the problem.

Isn't it the most ridiculous thing ever that you must resort to this instead of the Vita simply supporting YouTube? I was baffled about this considering the great res of the Vita and Sony trying to compete with ios devices...

This is awesome news! I thought only the psp games that you could download from the vita ps store were supported by it, although I've heared there were a handful that weren't in the store and were also supported. Lbp psp was not one of them. So now that you have confirmed it works, I'm getting it immediately. You better not be lying! ;p

LBP Vita would pretty much be the only reason I'd now get a Vita with the used game restictions. That and maybe Borderlands 2 Vita...
