Little Big Penalties

Archive: 25 posts

I uploaded this level a little while ago. Although my feedback hasn't been terrible it's barely had any plays so thought I would upload it on to here to see if I could get anymore people playing it. Any feedback is welcome. If you have any levels you'd like me to try out just let me know in the comments of the level or on here and I'll put them in my queue to play.

Here's the link to the LBP.me page - http://lbp.me/v/9p170b

Thanks

Hi! Got it queued. Also, to directly put a picture into the thread, just click on the "insert image" tool http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/LBPC-Style/editor/insertimage.png and in the box that pops up, just paste your image's URL in and click "OK" and you should get this.

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=39357&d=1333188697

also, I would just copy the URL directly from you LBP.me page instead of uploading to here.

I had a blast playing this last night. The gameplay is fun and I loved all the great little touches, like the sackbot emotions, the crowd reactions and the changing ads. It was really nicely done and had a lot of charm. I wish you luck getting those extra plays. The level certainly deserves it!

Wow ,just checked and it has only 9 plays - that's a travesty! Anyway here's the link for anyone wanting to give it a go http://lbp.me/v/9p170b

This looks good. I'll give it a go. I know what it's like to work hard on a level for hardly any plays.

EDIT: Just played a bit, but didn't realise it was 2player only, so will have to go back to it at some point when I have someone else to play with. Seems good though, looks like it's starting to get a few more plays too and some good comments. Love the intro btw, especially when that player rolls around after being tackled. Genius.

Thank you so much. comments like this make me feel like all the effort was worth it again after the slow start!

I've now changed the name of the level to let people know it's 2-4 player, thanks for the heads up that it wasn't clear.

Oooooh a football pitch. This looks fun so I've added it to my queue to play later.
(Plus I'm always on the look out for the unknown creators and the underplayed).

This is a very nice level, and it feels just like playing a real sports game. I didn't have anyone to play with, so I just played on one player mode. It is very easy on one player mode, but then again the level is designed for 2-4 players. The animations were great, and I thought it was cool how you could see your sackperson on the TV on the scoreboard. If LBP2 kept the star rating system, I'd give it 5 stars.

Also, since this is an F4F thread, could you please leave feedback for the Goo Factory level of mine?

Wow. 2 days ago it only had 9 plays. Now it has almost 100. That's a pretty good rate of increase in my book!2012-04-06 19:26:00

I just checked this level out and I'm pleased by it's craftsmanship, and it's potential for Fun competitive game play between friends. I'll definitely go back to play it next time with a buddy of mine. I hope that more people take a moment to give it a try. Nice work. 2012-04-06 19:58:00

I know, I'm a bit blown away by the amount of plays in now has in such a short time and the reactions haven't been bad either. Thanks everyone!

You should try making an AI for it.. Would be fun if we could play against the computer :-) I'll try playing it against my house mates later2012-04-09 23:08:00

Finally got round to playing with another player yesterday. Animations are great. I think my only real issue with it is that the other player can see where you're gonna dive/shoot. I think, you could add an expert mode where the cursors are invisible.... that'd certainly be interesting. The other option I can think of (a bit extreme), is to duplicate everything. So you have one area for P1 and one area for P2, and they can only see their own cursors. Obviously this is very dependant on thermo.

Out of interest.... what team do you support?

I absolutely love this level. I've played this twice with different friends. The music is a classic for all football fans. The opening scene and players walking onto the pitch sets the scene. Even when you loose there's a bit of humour that makes it quite light hearted and fun if you win or loose. This great and I don't think I've come across such a football type level like this one.

It would be great if it had it's own A.I for one player or a screen that could detect how many players. So more then 1 player that get taken to the usual game and if only 1 player then the AI kicks in. BUT I honestly think it's fine as it is. You could maybe make confetti or fireworks go off for the winner at the end to make it more spectacular. BUT I really like this level and yayed/hearted it and I will be back to heart you as a creator too.

Here I am with my friend Als_thegamer:

My level is also up for F4F, it's my first level so I only have 1 (working on part 2) and it's in my signature below but it's already got a decent of plays, whereas yours could do with a lot more. So I'm on a mission to get this level more plays as it deserves it. I think I already retweeted it from someone else last week.

I've thought about that but haven't got a clue how to make it good enough so that you couldn't learn it's weaknesses and beat it every time. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and unless it was perfect I wouldn't be happy with it. I've not come across any AI in LBP2 that would be good enough, you know of any good examples or got any ideas?

I think if you were not able to see the cursor of your opponent then it might turn in to a guessing game which I don't think would be as much fun because it would take any skill out of it. I thought of doing a single player version like that against the computer where you guessed which way to go but it would take a while to do and as I said I don't think guessing is as much fun.

Bearing in mind that I wanted it to be factually correct with the current premier league champions being Man United and it's not them can you guess who I support? It is reflected in the intro vid.

Well, isn't that what penalties is? A guessing game? Like I suggested, it could be a nice option to have, to give it an extra edge.

Is your team Arsenal?

Very true and that is how FIFA and Pro Evo do it but I think maybe I like the silliness of two icons chasing each other round a goal. I'll bear it in mind definitely but for the moment I think the wife needs a break from LBP as we only have one decent tv.

Is your team Arsenal?

Correct! Who do you support? I tried to make the kits of teams that were distinctive and didn't just look like your generic plain football kit. I don't think I managed it with all of them though. Had to put Aston Villa in as it's my brothers team.

I quite enjoyed the sillyness of the two icons chasing each other aswell.

Ahh, so it was Aston Villa, not West Ham or Burnley. That pleases me

I noticed a few teams in there. Arsenal player dribbling past Spurs players, Man City player (De Jong no doubt ) crunching a Utd player. Think I saw Norwich and Chelsea too? I'll give you a clue who I support - it's where I live.
I didn't spot my team in the intro.

I would love to be able to create an AI but I'm not sure I could do it justice so that it wasn't predictable and easy to second guess and therefore easy to beat.

I tried to make confetti for the end of the intro video when Man U are lifting the trophy but it wasn't working well so I gave up. I have also hearted yourself, would be rude of me not to after the feedback you've given me!

I added it to my queue a few days ago but haven't managed to play it yet. Does look like it's doing very well for your first level and much better than any of mine have done.
I saw you'd retweeted that tweet the other day so thanks and I'm now following you. I'll add you on PSN too if I remember but I'm not online on PS3 often as our wifi is a bit of a mess at the moment.
I'm a little surprised but very grateful at the current reaction that this level has got so I'm not really expecting it to keep going like this, especially as the first two months it was online it had 5 plays of which 3 of them were me, my brother and my brother in law. It was only once I put it on here about a week ago that it got over that number.

Guessing Bolton? You could always pretend that it's Bolton players that the Arsenal player is skipping past but I suppose that would be worse than not being in at all! I think it was meant to be Everton originally rather than Chelsea, not sure why Everton though. Could be either as it's just plain blue. I think that was all the teams minus Newcastle who I put in too.

Me and my friend love this level! It was so cool how you did the intro with the slide tackles and such!

Pros:
-Awesome gameplay
-Original Idea
-Simple Detail

Cons:
-Slow times between switching players (make them run!)

Mate, have you ever seen a penalty shoot out? You don't run to take a penalty, you walk to the spot. The tension is unbelievable. It's bad enough watching a penalty shoot out.... even as a neutral!
