Is there a limit on the spoilers you can use, or is this a bug in the forums?

Archive: 2 posts

I've created The Big Bug List from patch 1.07 (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=6844), which has a lot of spoilers in it as there is a lot of information and I don't want people being overwhelmed by a wall of text.

So I have each point in bold, with a spoiler describing the point.

Then I have the word "threads" with another spoiler and all the links.

It's just that, well, there's a great wall of text if you are trying to edit and maintain it. With all the html information as well it's a lot to process. But anyway...

I've noticed that somehow one of the points seems to have disappeared, and the html links to it have been merged with another point.

I'll scour the code and try and work out what's happening, but it's a lot of information to work through, and I have a headache.

But anyway, I'm wondering if I've hit a limit to the actual number of spoilers one can do and the code is just compensating by cutting stuff out.

I'll likely move the threads section into the spoiler for the descriptions to try and compensate and see if this will fix it, but it's going to take a lot of work.

UPDATE
I've gone and put the thread information within the spoilers, but the information is still all mixed up. I can see the proper words in the code, it's just they are not displaying on screen. I'll try and have one more hard look at the information. I might also remove the spoilers around the thread information.

I do want to add more information and points, but with it already hiding information I can see, I am reluctant to do so.

LATEST UPDATE
I've tried working out what's up with the code. Everything should be correct but it's not displaying correctly. The point that is hidden is around the "Complex objects not being captured correctly". There is an additional point and description and threads called "The save file size is too small" with it's own information and html stuff, but the information is not showing at all and it is combining the html tags of this section with the complex object part.

You should be able to see all this stuff if you "quote" the article.

Perhaps it's because there is so much code information in the one post, with all the html stuff going on.

I don't know what the problem is, I'll just wait for a response.

UPDATE

I tried cutting out the spoilers around the threads, thereby reducing the number of "spoiler" tags. This did not fix the problem.

I tried shuffling the order around, and the offending point just consumed a different point and it's hyperlinks instead.

So I moved it to the end of the points. There is text after the point eating section, but it seems to have left it alone. I don't know why it's fixed the problem, only it has.

Let me quote the offending point in it's "point eating" form. I'll start with what you seen normally, then I'll quote it in raw code.

Viewers pleased be advised, a wall of text is approaching. The spoilers are not working properly here, so I've had to quote in detail. I'll bold/underline my normal comments from here on in so you can see where they are.

What people would normally see:

Save files malfunctioning / not working. This seems to have come up since the MGS levels were introduced. People have done a lot of work in create mode, saved their progress, and then returned to the game to find their hard work has vanished.

This is also an issue for recording information like passing/acing levels, as it seems the save file will sometimes corrupt itself for some users, leading to frustration.

Complex objects not being captured correctlyObjects with an exceptionally high number of components and switches do not seem to be able to be captured properly. This seems especially noticable if the object is multi parted and not physically connected to itself.

The most noticable problems is that all the wiring done simply disappears on the saved object.

The save file size is too small.
This is an old issue, but it seems more and more people are noticing it, and many are getting frustrated that they have several gigabytes free on their hard drive but can only have a very small amount of content in game.

Serious creators are hitting limits on the amount of levels they can make, and this is while keeping their community objects page clear and removing all backups to their levels.

Threads: And now for the "raw code" version. It's a very big wall of text, but you should notice there is a point in there that is not showing for no obvious reason. It's the exact same text.

I've noticed on putting this in I can't wrap this text in spoiler code. And even though it's rawcode, it's still putting a spoiler in. I'm sorry for the wall of text, but I hope it helps people work out what's going on.[/I]

[U]Aiya, now I can't open my own spoiler tags. I don't know what's going on. The spoilers I was trying to put all this stuff in kept malfuctioning, appearing on the raw code format or not allowing me to open them after saving. I don't know what, but something wierd is going on.

I think I'll just let it sit and let the appropriate people work out what's going on. I give up.

I'VE GOT IT!

I finally worked out what the problem was, when I was trying to edit the thread again, I noticed this very, very small error...

I'll try and raw code just the line and highligt the problem. I'll try and put it in spoilers as well if people want to try and spot the problem.

If you look very, very closely you can see that the url code does not have an end to it's quotation marks. It seems this is what was causing it to eat all the code after it.

So in the end, it was just a tiny error, but it did seem to eat up a whole lot of raw code just by missing out on one ".

So for future reference, if you find information disappearing in your posts, check the URL information and make sure it's got all the quote marks around it.

And if you could spot the problem without going through all the spoilers... my goodness, I would be very, very impressed.

Hmm, that is weird. For future reference, you do not have to add quotation marks to your urls. vBulletin will add those in automatically.

If I type this:
