i agree the silent hill film was pretty good, but they ruined it a little by having to sow it up at the end. silent hill is about mystery, a mystery that is never really solved. in the same way that SOTC has a narrative but it's open to interpretation

YOU ASKED MY QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you

I could not agree with you more! The ending of Silent Hill pretty much ruined the entire movie because they tried to ruin the mystery of it. The good part is that I enjoyed the first 90% of the movie :-)

On the Stephen Fry 'cost' issue. you know, i reckon it would be more than worth the investment. not only is Sackboy an endearing creation but the environments would have a striking resemblance to the actual game (it is photo-realistic, even though it's surreal in presentation). the connection between the game and the series would be incredible, especially if we had a scene with sackboy playing an arcade game which was a LBP2 level. it would send sales of the game through the roof, and i'm going to say this:

any government that got behind the whole 'create' ethos of this game and realised the potential of it would go down really well with parents. LBP could be big and i mean BIG! we are on the cusp of a revolution here and it's about time MM concentrated on world domination. yes, i feel that strongly about it.

let's teach our children to dream and imagine again. let's encourage the creative gene we all possess.

@GribbleGrunger: I agree that Stephen Fry in an LBP cartoon would be amazing, but from what Tom and I have heard, he is VERY expensive. I have no idea what sort of budgets cartoons usually have, and I guess that if he had just a few hours of narration for an entire season it might work, but I doubt a cartoon could afford more than 1 or 2 hours.

@biorogue: We look forward to hearing what you think :-)

i was thinking more in terms of stop-frame animation done with computers rather than cartoons...

Hey dudes and dudettes,

Aww Snap! You meant I wasn't dreaming? I was really in the podcast? Hehe. I had a blast with you guys, and if we can convince an LBPer living in the UK to play your podcast through a megaphone in front of Stephen Fry's house, I'm sure he'll make a guest appearance pro bono.

Then we won't have to fake laugh for Taffey and Poo's jokes...

I kid. I kid. You guys blew me away into a heap of awesome sauce. May you have at least 152 episodes more to go!

I'm out of state on holiday at the moment so I'll work to keep my comments to 10 thousand characters or less.

This podcast is chock full of news nibblets and really gave it the feel that I was originally expecting to hear when I first started listening way back six episodes or so ago.

Except that the strong news side in this episode is tempered with the community forum focus and guest interaction which works well to add balance and personal relevance to the outward facing, impersonal news elements.

This is another way of saying that I thought there was a good balance between the news segment, the human interest segments and the community facing segments.

On the subject of LBPK I'm not sure how I stand on the game. Kart style games aren't very high on my gaming interests though the create elements and the LBP'esque additions with the toolsets, materials and philosophy make it look pretty interesting. I agree with Toms assertion that the game makers pedigree in this field is well enough established that it would have some solid gameplay and show improvement on ModNation Racers the way that LBP2 improved on LBP.

I've got to say that I looked through the CC15 results announcement video and I didn't see much in the Easter egg department though I was worn out and using a really poor Internet connection so I'll hide behind those excuses for now.

Speaking of Chimpanzee, I'll reiterate what I've said before and what Jeff said in the podcast, y'all are getting popular with the podcast. Being able to consistently put out episodes weekly/fortnightly for more than a few months already sets the podcast above a lot of other peoples attempts.

And when you get people like Chimpanzee in your corner you are breaking into the big leagues and I mean that mostly seriously. I've always respected Chimpanzee's work in being able to find and present levels, news and media in a professional and creative manner. And there are a lot of important members of the LBP'verse who pay attention to what Chimpanzee highlights.

The new graphics look great and add to the image of the podcast. Having the icon on the mp3 podcast is great to see. It seems that you are doing well to set up your brand identity, find or generate content and then put it all together into a repeatable product. If you can maintain consistency then you'll be in an even better in position to grow and expand in the repeat listeners market.

I'm sure that I've forgotten some things I wanted to talk about but I'll skip on to keep this thing going. I'm looking forward to hearing what you take on addiction management when you discuss Rialree's question.

The answers to my question about single/multi/social gaming are all fairly inline with my own so I'll deem them adequate. There do not seem to be any rabid FPSers in the group who can survive on multiplayer only nor anyone who is dead set against the movement toward social gaming.

Normally I only care about single player only content, even when I'm playing MMOs I'd still be fairly anti-social doing as much as i could alone. So playing with strangers is something I couldn't care less about.

If I have friends then suddenly multiplayer is a big benefit but it would still be trumped by a good single player setting.

I know that for me it is the people aspect of LBP that has kept me coming back to the game for all of these years where I'd normally just play a game for a month or less, finish it and the move on to the next in line.

That is all that I remember at the moment. Cheers.

@Trindall:

I must begin by apologizing that this is going to be a very short reply because I am leaving on vacation this morning (WOOT!) and I probably shouldn't be on the forums in the first place.

Secondly, awesome job using "I COULDN'T care less" correctly, but then again, I would expect the amazing Trindall to use it correctly if anyone did. Too many people say "I COULD care less" when they mean it the other way.

I was really happy going into episode 14 because Tom and I just kept stacking LBP news items up as we approached the podcast, and a lot of it was stuff that people from the community had asked us to talk about, so I felt that it was stuff that people wanted to hear us talk about. I'll keep my fingers crossed that people keep coming to us with news items because it really helps us pick and choose which ones to cover. This episode had the sort of news stuff that I had always envisioned us covering :-)

As for the CC15 video, there is a tiny part where they show SalieriAAX's level and it shows the name of it to be something like "It's called Veloceraptor", which is a reference to the episode where we had Simon on and he was chewing out some commenter who had left a comment on his level telling him that his fun name for his level was spelled wrong (and we picked on him for basically the whole episode by pretending we couldn't say his level name).

Thanks for the kind words about the podcast getting more popular. After the Game Jam episode, Tom and I have both been very encouraged by the increase in listeners, and it has also been great having a guest on for every single episode. We already have episode 15 episode lined up on the guest side of things :-D

I would love to reply more, but I really must go. Thanks so much for the awesome feedback Trindall!

@nysudyrgh:

Can't understand my voice at the start, eh? Is it an issue that my voice is a bit strange, that I talk to fast, or that it sounds like my headset sucks? My headset isn't as nice as Tom's new shiny one, so if people are struggling with understanding me then perhaps it is time for me to bite the bullet and upgrade. Thank you for letting me know that you struggled with that.

It's really great to hear that you enjoyed the podcast! Thanks for giving it a listen :-D

Great Podcast as usual guys!

I'm not even the slightest bit hurt that you bumped my topic for next week, no really it's fine, no chocolates, champagne, flowers or other lady-like gifts are necessary.

Well, okay, if you insist

I wish I had some juicy gossip or news of some sort for you guys, or heck at least a question, but at this moment in time I'm sat at my desk and desperately spending 98% of my brainpower on a way to escape this heckhole in favour of sunnier climes.

Sigh. At least your melodious voices kept me entertained for a good portion of the afternoon (usefully concealed earphones are useful).

Will pop back in if I think of any burning questions!

OH and have a good vacation John!

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the support. It makes me happy to know people still play my levels...

Anyways, I think I'm a LiBit. No, really, I think I have some Japanese in me I never knew about. Zen reminded people of Okami, and the level I made at the game jam is similar to the platform drawing game Sumioni. Hehe. Time to sit down and have a talk with my parents...

Once again another informative and entertaining show, Thanks guys. Jeff is always entertaining and I loaded up Zen right after. I'd agree that it is one of the best PSP levels out there. Thanks for the mention of thread and your very generous comments.

PS. I dont think the NES was out in the US when The Last Star Fighter was released in the theaters.

Yup :-) I try to warn that there will not be much interaction going on. Sometimes the folks in the chat room will talk about a topic for 10 minutes and I can add that into the podcast, and other times only a few people will respond and every question dies off quickly. Episode was an example of questions dying off quickly, but the good news is that you (Cory) should be mentioned a few times (then again we had huge technical difficulties with this one, so there is a chance that all the mentions were in the part that was deleted. Hopefully not).

I can't do a lot of typing while on the podcast because my computer comes through so loud even though I have a headset on (with a mic). Plus, I just don't multitask that well
