online co-op player cameras?

Archive: 3 posts

Is it possible to allow each player to have their own camera follow them in online co-op gameplay? Seems to work in versus, but not in co-op.

And if it's not possible, how do you deal with one player getting timed out, but their DCS controlled character/vehicle getting left in the spot where the player disappeared? What would be the best way of making sure that the character/vehicle also gets destroyed and respawns in the spot where the player spawns? See, I'm thinking if I wired either an inverted player sensor, or the DCS active output via NOT gate to a destroyer, making it so that if a player is not in the DCS the object gets destroyed, that wouldn't work because the respawning character/vehicle would also destroy itself before the respawned player had a chance to enter it.

No, in LBP2 you need to have the Game Type set to Versus to get individual cameras for every player

The best solution I can think of is to use a 3-port Selector placed in the DCS chip for the Vehicle.

Wire the "Active" Output from the DCS to the 3rd Input of the Selector, and wire the 3rd Selector Output into the 2nd Selector Input. Wire the 2nd Selector Output to the destroyer, and have the Selector set to State 1 by default.

State 1 will therefore serve as the Idle state, (and because of Selector priority rules) 3 would become the Active state, and 2 the Destroy state.

Thanks Bob. That solves the respawn issue but I've still got the camera issue which seems unsolvable without making the level versus. Because of this, I've decided to scrap the separate player characters and return to the single vehicle concept instead. Such a shame that split cameras wasn't included as a co-op level option. Seems like a major oversight somehow.2012-03-26 14:29:00
