emmiter on following hologram

i've been trying to make this artificial creatinator.

have this invisible hologram, with emmiter on it, following my sackbots, with everything that is needed to shoot at the direction the right stick is pointing. however, it's not working so well... the thing won't shoot if the angle i point is close from horizontal. i'd say it only shoots if the angle is like 45? or higher, which is lame.

I'm throwing a not so small object, but the same object, when put on a creatinator, works ok.

any suggestion for a nice creatinator replica?

It might be the floor interfering. See if it works standing on a small piece of dark matter. If that fixes it, you might need to emit from a higher point, or shrink your emitted object.2012-03-25 12:58:00

As an addition to what Rogar says, you may want to think of using non-physical objects for projectiles. One way to do that is by sticking decorations to invisible holographic material; the downside of course is... that there are no physics: this means everything you'd want it to do (bounce, push, occupy space, explode in the face) requires you to do it with logic.2012-03-25 19:53:00

what the hell?
i copied evret's level, but i can't enter the edit mode, it says it contains material that i don't own. Says i'm required to buy metal gear solid package =(

EDIT:
anyone knows how to solve this issue?? or i really do have to buy the pack?

If you want to be able enter the level in edit and see how he did it, then yes you'll have to buy the pack. That being said, it's a decent pack with some good materials and stickers. Plus the levels are pretty fun. I would suggest getting most of the level packs of you plan to create. There are a lot of good materials in those packs.

I've taken a look at how evret made his tech. Basically he has a small piece of holo with multiple tag sensors attached to emitters. These emitters emit your projectile. The tag sensors on the holo pick up a tag located on the sackbot which are designated to each different projectile. The creatinator then emits that piece of holo.'Then, simply use a selector to cycle through the different tags. That's the basic idea. If you need any help, feel free to add me.

so his emmiter isn't necessary at all? if he had a holo with all those emmiters, a selector connected to the D-pad, changing the selected emmiter, would be the same?

i'll give a thought to the pack, anyway. thanks for the advice.

I'm not sure which emitter you are referring to. If you have the creatinator emit the small piece of invisible holo and have that holo emit your projectile, you won't need to have a piece of holo following the player. Evret has an emitter on holo following the player, but I think that is what he used to show the player what projectile they have selected currently. When the player changes the projectile, the emitter following the player emits a copy of the projectile above the player for a few seconds as a visual cue.

sorry, i meant his creatinator was useless, in the end. it could have been done without it.

by the way, i wondered how did he do to trigger the creatinator. Is it an emmiter that releases it when the player presses triangle?

that's my only guess on how he did it, but if you do it that way, the creatinator will remain there forever, which doesn't happen on his level.

Yeah, the player presses triangle and a creatinator is emitted right on top of the sackbot for a split second. I believe you can still press circle to get rid of the creatinator or have them walk through one of those power up removers.

You have to set the lifetime on the emitter to .1 seconds for the creatinator to disappear right away after they press triangle.
