Argh... The Movie Cams!!

Archive: 6 posts

So I've made a new level, inFamous Alden's Rampage, and right at the end there is a boss fight which requires a movie camera because of the size of the thing. The actual sackbot that you control has its own movie cameras (one for normal and a zoomed in one that activates in aiming mode) because it requires a respawn system, and when you die, there is a loading screen and then you respawn. But the thing is, if you die when you're up to the boss battle, the loading screen doesn't appear because the boss scene movie camera doesn't deactivate (in other words, it keeps going). Any Help on how to get the boss movie cam to disable itself when you die? 2012-03-24 09:28:00

In short to cancel a movie camera that has unlimited or a random duration, you have to deactivate it (not sure its needed) and activate a movie camera which lasts 0 seconds.
In your specific situation i believe some kind of logic with a tag on the sackbot and a tag sensor that scans the entire level and disables the bosses camera while enables the 0 sec movie camera when the sackbot (and its tag) does not exist on the level will work.

I now its very rough description, possibly wont work the first time around and maybe will need some kind of orchestration before it does, but play with this until someone more experienced director comes. lol

For disabling movie cams...

If it helps, think of movie cameras as one-shot rather than on/off (kinda like music boxes are). Feeding an "on" signal activates it, but an "off" signal doesn't deactivate it. Therefore, the only way to deactivate a cam is to activate another one.

However there's a slightly cleaner workaround. If you create a Sequencer with Positional input, make the board size two spaces, and put the cam on the right side, then when you feed a signal into the sequencer, you can effectively turn on/off that cam in isolation, without having to activate another.
