Hi Central! Here to announce my newest level, La Casa de las Rosas or The House of Roses! Its an easy to medium platformer in a LBP1-ish type environment. Hopefully it gives you that vibe and you enjoy it . Big thanks to Psyntens for the roof design and to Leklack for the lawn mower design. Extra Info The level has 15 secrets; 6 easy, 6 medium and 3 'impossible' secrets. If you find all of one set you get a bonus for it. Theres also 3 extras which you can get for doing certain things in the level and they also include bonuses. Another thing is there are 3 optional races which can be activated by obtaining the sticker at the end of the level. This level was built in 12 days so if theres any bugs please report them if you like . Also try out Greenhousers! Beta Its a Mario Sunshine concept that uses the water creationator as a hover pack...kinda XD. Gah! Was hoping it was level generator. I was going to see if you'd put it in a prize bubble so I could collect it. about to hit play | 2012-03-24 06:16:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
La Casa de las Rosas is quite a lovely level. I enjoyed the overall design, the smooth platforming mechanics, and the factors that you've included which add a little extra spice to the replay value. You earned an author heart from me a long while ago, and with levels like this I'm reminded of why. Excellent work... thanks for creating. | 2012-03-24 06:55:00 Author: Mr Reluctant Posts: 32 |
This one recaptures and reminds us of what LBP is all about. Fun!!! Gorgeous visuals and great level design make for a truly terrific experience. The secrets are sweet too. | 2012-03-24 18:37:00 Author: Alley_Cat_8633 Posts: 108 |
Amazing level... a lot going on but not overwhelming in any way shape of form. I am wondering what you used for the roof as I had been trying for a similar angle with some decos and was never really happy though. The rose bush spikes and other uses of danger elements were very well intertwined into the environment and everything flows smoothly. I did get a little confused right at the start when I climbed up the tower to open the way to go forward. I somehow missed the circle on the chain in the back layer that lowered you back to the start and I tried to jump down a few times through the spikes and such. | 2012-03-27 08:53:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
Thanks everyone for all the comments and glad you all enjoyed it! The deco was done by putting the wood frame deco on dark matter/ rubbber since it has round edges. Then I just turned it into panel. hope that helps | 2012-03-28 00:14:00 Author: L1GhTmArE Posts: 519 |
Great platforming level. The level design does have a LBP1 style, and it is nice to play it in spring time. This level has pretty good optional stuffs, like secrets, destroying the lawn mowers, and races. The polished gameplay features really good use of bounce pads, attract-o-tweaker, and many other clever platforming obstacles. Another job well done, L1ght. Welp... I played this thing and I am not happy at all.. For one thing it was adorably fun, with some really cute, stunning visuals. Really liked that roof decoration trick you did. See how that could upset me? lol Yeah.. because I didn't think of it first. No seriously.. really great job. Some really fun platforming with a few bits that had me scratching my head for a moment. I have to revisit for secrets because they were really and truly hard to find, well.. except for the easy ones. If I had to find some cons... I think a bit of moving light when entering a scene and spot lighting with some invisible lights here and there could have been a great addition to make a few parts a bit rosier. Maybe even some critters or moving insects here or there, but that is getting horribly nit picky. A bit like taking a test score of 100% and saying your pencil could have been a tad more sharpened when you checked all the right answers... Inspiring job. Thanks so much for this one. Really made me smile. | 2012-03-28 13:17:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
XD Thanks man! Im really glad you enjoyed it! You all can thank Psyntens for help with the roof! If he wasn't there when I was making the roof, who knows how it would've ended up. Also I don't think your nickpicking! Those are actually great ideas but idk what you meant about the lights. I would have to see what you mean but the bug/critters idea is great! Ill try to put some moving and non moving bugs in when I get a chance. Also I ve updated the OP with a video! Thanks to the LBP2Channel squad for playing and posting a vid! | 2012-03-28 22:14:00 Author: L1GhTmArE Posts: 519 |
Most welcome! lol... well, I can show you sometime what I mean. In the meantime to maybe explain a bit better. I was just thinking to replicate a quick sunrise or sunset of effect when you first come in the level. Some lights, maybe spots that swing into position off screen as you enter to display some moving rays or something. Other places, just a bit of accent light here or there to brighten up or show some glow here or there. It is such a fairy tale sort of level so, moving stuff, both insects/critters as well as lighting, I thought might add a fun addition. Maybe even some sounds here and there once you add the insects or critters. I've hung around Morgana a bunch.. so lighting is just one of those things I notice. I usually don't care it to the point I drop too many frames, but I do like a bit here and there. lol | 2012-03-28 22:33:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Fantastically crafted level, L1ghtmare. The 3 difficulty levels for the secrets was awesome and added tons of replay value, and the various obstacles littered throughout the mansion were great fun. Hearted once again. I enjoyed the less- serious take on the art style this time around. Any chance you can stick to it for a bit longer? Don't get me wrong, I love realistic, but its nice to see a goofy cardboard world every once in ahwile | 2012-03-29 23:21:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |

I logged in especially just now to say this: I played your level a few hours ago, and it was fantastic. I really, really enjoyed it. The visual design was beautiful, the platforming was a lot of fun and most of all - and this is a weird point but it's important to me - I was never confused as to where to go. There were helpful arrows everywhere, very little layer dipping and everything was just laid out beautifully. Sometimes I can play a stunning platform level which will leave me really confused as to where to go next, but this was definitely not the case here. Yay'd and hearted, thanks for this level, it was superb P.S. oh and I played your beta level, absolutely brilliant idea. I really got that Super Mario Sunshine vibe from it, which was a really fun gameplay mechanic on the gamecube and equally impressive to see here too | 2012-04-11 02:17:00 Author: Unknown User |
