Level - Snowman's Land
PSN ID - turnipeater

This is my first proper level and has been around for about a month or so now. I have been regularly updating it with little extras and just want to get a bit of feedback to see if there is anything I can do to improve it. If you comment please let me know your level name and I shall do the same for you

It's from somewhere in The Wilderness, hamsalad.

Your level looks nice turnipeater. I'll give it a go in a bit and post my thoughts.

That's great thanks. Im really looking for some feedback into creating a bit more of a challenge as at the moment it seems a bit easy! I'd also like to know if you can think of any ideas on how to expand it or for any secret areas etc.2009-01-02 17:23:00

It's a good thing you posted that, or else I would have forgotten about this >.>

- I like all the small thing you did(snow, points on snowman's hat, etc)

- I love when people put in secret areas.

- raceish thing at the end was fun

- Igloo was a nice touch

- The big snowman squished me first time through

- You barely get to see the evil snowman, and how did you foil his plans? Just by seeing him?

All in all a great level.

Good points, thanks. I'll make a few changes to the snowman at the start to stop that from happening. Also the reason you foiled his plans is because yoou saved all the snowmen but i guess it still doesnt make much sense, I was geting tired when I put that in lol.2009-01-03 08:14:00

Your level has a lot going for it, but I found some major problems:

What I liked:
-Aesthetically pleasing. Nice snow, good detail, nice music.
-Has a story line, nice a simple but it is effective.

Problems:
-Found one major problem, you can fly out of the level with the jet pack on the far side of the spikes. If you fly up and to the right you can get to the permanent switch above and walk all the way out of the level confines.

-The first time I played I was dumb and didn't see the arrow pointing in the igloo, and by walking past it I broke the level(sort of). The first thing I did was move the three little balls, and was able to get over the big snowball that is supposed to be a barrier. Once I realized I couldn't get the big brother back because of the barrier I went back and saw the arrow to the igloo. The problem was after going in the igloo and getting the little one, the small ball were no longer weighing down the trap door, so it didn't work right and I could not continue. Simple fix: don't let the player go past the igloo until they first go inside the igloo.

-I also somehow managed to get myself stuck in between two rocket sleds, and because of the lame LBP planing system I could not get out. Set the max at once to 1 on the emitter, and this should not be a problem though.

-The GRAB SWING GRAB signs are kind of dumb, people should know how to do that, or they should figure it out. This kind of instruction only needs to be in levels designed for new players, which your level doesn't seem to be.

-The checkpoint by the wife should be a double checkpoint I think. I messed up the first time, and I almost had to restart the level, a double checkpoint would be nice.

-Could use a little bit more platforming or puzzles. Since there are none before the wife section it feels unbalanced.

Whew, sorry if that was a lot of things in the negative list, but I think most of these could be fixed easily and will make a big difference. I really did like you level and I think it has potential to be one of those really good levels people make their friends play.

Wow, thanks very much Walter-Kovacs, thats a lot of constructive feedback there, will get on that soon, am thinking of changing the part with the sledge anyways, too easy, want to do something a bit more platformy, moving ledges and swinging etc!2009-01-03 11:54:00

Ok, here's my take on your level.

What I liked: Very silly. I liked it a lot, even if it wasn't intentional, I think saving a whole family of snowmen is hilarious. Some parts were pretty cool, I especially liked when you had to get the child snow man and bring him back with the jet packs. It had some great platforming action, and just some pure fun moments (I really liked riding that jet powered sleigh for some reason. I don't know why!) The evil snow man was ridiculous, and everything was just fun and never for one moment took itself seriously, which was great.

What I didn't like:

There wasn't much I didn't like about your level. The one complaint I have is the part when you're sliding on the ice. You have to jump on from one platform made of glass to another platform made of glass. There is stuff that falls from above that if it hits you, you fall into an electric hazard. I had some difficulty with progressing past this part, but I did without having to restart the level. It doesn't LOOK as good as levels like Azure Palace or an MM level, but it is fun as hell, and isn't that what really counts?

5 starred it.
