Invisible, selectable, and editable material?
Archive: 14 posts
I'm pretty sure it exists, so if anyone's got any they could send to me, or tell me how to make it myself then I would be most greatful. I have some invisible dark matter already, but it's the type that can't be edited once it's placed unless you resize it first and it can only be box selected. I also have invisible glass that is fully selectable and editable like any normal material, but it casts a shadow and becomes visible again if I change the material type. (Found this randomly in one of my levels and I'm not even sure how it was got there). Anyhow, neither of these are suited to my needs right now, so... | 2012-03-20 21:21:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
I haz editable Invisible metal. but it has a shadow... but that's the best you can get. i talk to many good creators like Luos and many others. and the glass you have or my metal is pretty much the best you can get.... at least the best anyone has told anyone about. if you would like the metal, i can tell you how to make it. *mew | 2012-03-20 21:27:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
What type of objects do you need to "block" David? If the answer is anything but Sackboys, Sackgirls or Sackbots, I would use physicalised Hologram/ Sticker Panel. | 2012-03-20 21:37:00 Author: Slaeden-Bob Posts: 605 |

I had been led to believe that there was a fully editable form of invisible dark matterwhich left no shadow, but perhaps it's just a myth. I'd be interested to know how the invisible glass is created though, since I somehow did it without intending to. What type of objects do you need to "block" David? Ahem...anyways...it's a DCS controlled vehicle which I need to block, not a sackboy or sackbot. What is physicalised hologram? Unless you mean the plasmified thin layer barrier, I've never heard of it. | 2012-03-20 21:41:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |

There is that glitch where you can make the textures mess up and vibrate when the material is enlarged enough. Through that glitch, you can make pink/peach floaty and draw it out and shape it to any form, then when you're done, you just material change it to anything else (like dark matter or stone) and it will turn invisible, but unfortunately by then it's a bit difficult to select again. | 2012-03-20 21:51:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |

Sounds like it ends in the same result as the shrink and smear technique, which is no good to me. Ideally I need a material that can be easily selected and corner edited, since I'll be making extensive use of invisible barriers that span almost the entirety of a levels length. | 2012-03-20 21:57:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
I know piston material can be selected and invisible, but I'm not sure if its editable, I stumbled upon it once and its a great material, I don't know where you can get some but its in the shape of a square, I made it once accidentally but I'm sure someone here can point you to how to create it | 2012-03-20 22:22:00 Author: damaz10 Posts: 771 |

Ok, since it's only objects that I need to block and not sack people, Slaeden-Bob has given me a solution with the physicalized hologram suggestion. I'll repeat what he just told me, in case it's useful to anybody else... 1) Take out a piece of Hologram or Sticker Panel at put a 100% dampened Anti-Gravity Tweaker and an Unprotected Creature Brain on it. 2) Un-pause and jump on the Creature Brain. 3) Quickly pause after the Brain is popped, but before the Sticker Panel / Hologram falls to the ground and disappears. 4) Select and make a Copy the falling piece of Sticker Panel / Hologram. 5) Unpause and watch the original piece of Material disappear, while the copy stays behind. 6) Try moving any physical object through the newly glitched material. 7) You can't! Only sackfolks will be able to go through it | 2012-03-20 23:35:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
If all else fails, you may opt for dedicating the rear thin layer to collisions; you draw out the solid shapes in this layer and connect the player's DCS via a bar of invisible holo to a small shape in this flat layer. You'd need to use either the rear thick layer, a surface of theck or thack, or sticker panel to obscure this collision realm from the player. Slaeden-Bob's suggestion worked a treat though, so I don't need to try anything else now. Hopefully LBP2 might get the invisible material from the Vita game in a future update and we can all pleasure ourselves passionately upon it's silky smooth loveliness. Until then, physicalized hologram will have to suffice. | 2012-03-21 21:07:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Yeah, hologram with object collision is great! I used it often, but you must know that the glitched holo can't be captured - perhaps with direct capture though. You don't need a grav tweak though. This can also make any object gravity affected and walkthrough-able. If you ever wanted to make a movable dark matter block... | 2012-03-22 00:13:00 Author: Unknown User |
You don't need a grav tweak though. The Anti-Gravity Tweaker is simply there to have more control when you un-pause. Without it, the Hologram + Creature Brain would fall to the ground | 2012-03-22 12:37:00 Author: Slaeden-Bob Posts: 605 |
