Super Happy Buddy Battle Show

Archive: 9 posts

Welcome to the Happy Buddy Battle Show. A Japanese game show styled deathmatch level that's weird, slapstick, and fiercely competitive.

The Super Happy Buddy Battle Show is a throw-back to the old-style deathmatch levels you'd see in lbp1 with some interesting tweaks and improvements for lbp2. The level features, 12 weapons, 6 power ups and a ridiculously large playing field to fight in.

You must fight to get the most kills and least deaths out of all of your opponents within a custom timed match. You can have fast 5, 10 or 15 minute matches, or long 20, 25, or 30 minute battles to really pound the crud out of your friends.

But remember, you're pounding the crud out of your friends to make happy buddy

As for F4F limits, it's unlimited.

okay, I have patched up a lot of things within, so it should be much more fun and playable. I have:

-Fixed an issue with players randomly respawning after getting killed
-- players now spawn in at the next checkpoint in sequence via selector when killed

-Improved the instructions prior to entering the arena
--Mr. Tamayatsu will tell you can't play if you are going in alone
--4th Wall character gives warning about not playing on separate PS3s

-Tweaked the player counter so that new players can hop into the level before entering the arena
-Fixed the flying suit assignment player sensors so that players won't be undetected when the jump for the grab switch
- added signs to the arena that specify how to get to the weapon dispensers
- added indicators showing where to grab the dispensers
- added bins under the weapon dispensers so that dispensed weapons don't fall to the bottom
- added a camera that zooms out when you enter the middle of the arena
- added holograms that light up over players when the camera zooms out for better indication of who's who
- shrunk the plasma cubes at the side of the arena's center room
- increased the power-up drop rate
- added cameras within the spawn rooms that zoom out so players with see the exit doors
- labelled the exit doors with stickers so that players know how to get out of the spawn rooms
- added arrows directing players from the spawn room exits, back to the center of the arena
- added an 'arena lock' that ensures players cannot exit back into the lobby after entering the arena
- fixed the right spawn room door

I still have a lot to fix, likely, but I need feedback to know what to fix. I have gotten 26 plays, but only 1 completion. I am will to fix anything within the level. I have done a lot of work to make this as good as possible, and I don't want my effort to go to waste.

Hmmm... I have no idea what that was. Probably a good thing as it is based on Japanese game shows. But I really had no idea what was going on. I sort of walked bewildered through the areas and then tried to grab a weapon but nothing happened. It looks as if you updated a lot since I played though. I did try it 1P so maybe that didn't help either, but as I said a little more guidance wouldn't hurt.

It can still be crazy confusing when playing, but I think that I didn't' even get out of the lobby.

It's designed so you can't get past the lobby with only 1 player in the level.
I have added indications for that. I should have had those there in the first place, but I didn't. Sorry about that.

The weapons in the second lobby room are just model weapons. They don't do anything.
I will make sure to indicate they are only display models, and possibly make a display case.
Sorry for the confusion.

Hey Lawnstink, thanks for the f4f, and sorry for my late reply!
K, this level really hurts the eyes lol....But after ignoring the threat of a migrane (joke) I had quite a lot of fun. The actual looks of the level are pretty basic but some inavotive weapons to blast you buddys with makes for some fun game play (Though I only played it one player as none of my mates were online at the time)

Nice idea, not a fan of the way it looks, but the idea, and logic are sound, and could offer a lot of fun with a few buddies.

Best of luck!

thanks for your feedback shade-seeker. I'm glad you liked the level. In regards to the visuals, There has been some other people who said similar things regarding the eye-hurting visuals I will tone it down and try make sure no one's eyes bleed

However, I will soon be transitioning to working on a platforming level, so the Super Happy Buddy Show will be getting less attention, so any changes that get suggested may take longer than before.

again, thanks for the feedback.
