*Looks at pile of university work*

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *stops for air* OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

Oh well, still a good contest... if I had entered, I'd have done Jules Vernes' 20,000 leagues under the sea (Book version)... would of been a good chance to use the diver costume, as well as make some cool water based environment puzzles XD

levels I would have done (Potential spoiler alert):

Finding and exploring the Nautilus
(linked to) escaping the Ice sheet and fighting squids
(linked to) grand escape as the nautilus sinks (even more so than usual =p)

edit:

Unfortunately, despite the long deadline (and as much as I would love to enter) I'm not gonna compromise my Uni work, but hey, call these ideas inspiration... oh wait... Oi you... stop stealin the ideas =p

Would anime count? I'd figure I'd likely have to specify which category it'd be under, but that's where most of my ideas would come from. I don't watch much else, and haven't read anything good in a long time.2012-03-19 23:58:00

I'm not a good creator, but if I was I would do a level of either Full House or The Bible.

This sounds like a good idea. I'd be up for it if I didn't already have another project on the go.

I'm gonna make a twilight level. But I'll only spend a few hours making it...

Hours? I think you're being a bit generous there.

Um... the fact that Twilight was even CONSIDERED is generous enough. ;D

And because there's a distinct lack of good comic book levels out there, time for me to finally take The Deadpool Corps in the right direction, and actually MAKE a Deadpool level. Maybe... I dunno. =/

Hmmm... I have a couple of question for anyone who can answer:

- If a show is based of a game, can we make a level with the same game play as the game?
- Can our level be a recreation of a specific part... Or does it have to be a tribute to the entire thing?

I'm just wondering just so that I don't start something that would get disqualified :3

In answer to the first question the answer is no, for example say you wanted to do a level based on the terrible supermario movie starring bob Hoskins then the gameplay must reflect that movie rather than be a classic mario game emulation.

The second query...yes you can use part or the whole of the source material for your inspiration.

In regards to the first answer: However there are some instances where the game-inspired movie game thingy can't have different gameplay. A few examples being: Pokemon, the tales series, persona, mortal combat, street fighter, etc.

It would seem very poor if there was in a change to a perfect formula to the source material. I do agree with the mario example, though, but that shouldn't be a prime example (The mario movie was BARELY even mario. :S)

So in regards to the examples above: Does your answer still persist?

Aww...I saw this and thought, "Yay! I finally have incentive to do a tribute to Avenue Q! I'll just make all the swear words "sack" and change all the bad songs, so "The Internet is for P**n" becomes the "The Internet is for Forum" or something like that!
Then I read post #0. Well, I guess you can't do plays so...yeah, I'll do Twilight as well.

There is a full discussion on the subject in the thread link in the first post of this thread. Bottom line is we are looking for the results of peoples creativity and imagination rather than replication or emulation.

The Avenue Q idea would have been fun, maybe you could do a twisted sesame street instead?

All details regarding entrance can be found by clicking on the link in the 1st post of this thread. The publish widow is designed to stop folks entering previously created levels.

I have been on Littlebignetwork recently because of this contest, and I just have to say that I'm putting so much effort into my entry, it will seem like an actual episode to the show the level is based on. This is definitely one of the coolest contests I have ever been a part of. 2012-04-15 02:08:00

I'll be entering with a pushing daisies tribute level. I don't expect to win scince it'll be my first time using all the lbp2 tools but hopefully I'll learn something along the way, and making a level ( even a crummy one) is at least a tad more creative then shooting people on other video games.2012-04-16 09:55:00

That's too bad. You have to study every minute you have though? No free time whatsoever? I have tests too, but I make time to relax and create and to study and work.

Sorry for late answer and/or bumping this thread(probably not). I study 7 hours at school a day plus about 3 hours doing my homeworks plus learning for the exam? I know... the school system here in Romania sucks. Even if I would've created 1-2 hours a day is WAY far from a winner ticket XD.
Anyways good luck to those who published their entries Happy gadding

Dang how did I not see this before!? A Vita & a crown as prizes!? That's the best rewards of any lbp contest ever!
Well I got a Vita and have grown to resent all that the crown stands for since it's given out like hotcakes now but this contest does have a really cool theme!
