Overhead Level Help

Archive: 3 posts

I have a few questions about things in an overhead level.
1.) I'm trying to make my first enemy (A wolf) and I have a health bar that fully works for it and it moves via follower.(I'm not sure if this is the best way...) Anyway, I'm having trouble making an attack for it. I want it to "pounce" at you and I'm not sure how to make this animation. Also, how can I make it so that when you run into it, you can push it around?

2.)Is there a way to make health bars that don't have to follow you? Like the kind that stay in the bottom of the screen?

3.)Is there any way to make "walking" look more realistic? I tried using the footsteps sound effect, but that sounded unnatural... Things like speed, sound effects, (Materials to add?) etc.

4.) What sort of things do people generally like to see in an overhead level?

Thanks!

Well, for the wolf to pounce, make it have a mover that lifts it up when it jumps at you. then you should make it so on impact it adds on to the counter/health bar, making your character take damage. people like to see enemies with varying attacks, such as a enemy can shoot at you and also punch you from close distances.2012-03-17 02:19:00

You can make a big invisible hologram square which you stick to the player, and place the player's health bar in a corner. You can also make another health bar in another corner, but make it display the health of the closest enemy, transmitted wirelessly. To display it, use a timer and a combiner. Set the timer to speed scale, max 0.1 sec, and connect it to the minus of the combiner. Then, plug the combiner in the timer. Connect the signal of the health in the positive input. You can use a sensor set to signal strenght, and it will display the health of the closest ennemy. This way, the player always sees the health and the enemy's health in the corner of the screen. This is not possible in a multiplayer level though, since a player would see the other player's HUD.2012-03-17 19:04:00
