Adrian's Review Page - Get a Review on Your Level! Taking submissions!

Archive: 45 posts

Hi! I reckon that I'm an alright reviewer, so I've given my hand at doing reviews, maybe even recording the game as I review it. (Disclaimer: maybe is not synonymous with "I will definitely")

So I'll rate four different aspects of your level out of 5, then give the average as the final score. The four different aspects are:

Platforming
Story
Dialogue
Difficulty

Final SCORE

(averaged out of the four aspects' scores)

As well as the rating I'll also give the most descriptive and detailed explanations for the reviews possible.

Special Notes:

If the level you are asking me to review is a Multiplayer Only level, you will need to PM or post your PSN ID so that I can play the level with you.
If you have more than one level you wish to have reviewed, then please leave one in the queue, and once that one has been reviewed, you may then apply to have your next level added to the queue.

Completed Levels

Elbee23 - A Journey Through a Digestive Tract https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=6878

Level Queue:

BassDeluxe - Boss Battle 1: Gelulupas
Ham_Salad - ZOMG Zombies
DoctorRamatool - The Stone Temple
Deejai - The Official Ninja Warrior Level
R-A-G-B - Mr. Derramamagma
Sir_Linque - Treetop Escape
Neverynnal - A Knight's Tale (Part 2A): Ranaku's Awakening
Xx_FAF_Sniper_xX - Area 52 - Live or die..

So please post below if you would like your level reviewed.

I wouldn't mind a review of my level, Boss Battle 1: Gelulupas. However, I don't want it just yet. I'd rather add change a few more things beforehand if you don't mind. Just go ahead and add me to the queue though. 2009-01-01 05:13:00

Ok, give me a shout when you are ready for me to review the level. Other than that, I'm going to add it to the queue right now. Can I please get a PSN ID, either through a post or a PM so I can find you more easily through the search function?2009-01-01 05:15:00

Whoah, I've done that so many times before for other LBPCentral users...how could I forget?!??

Thanks for the tip, mate.

I know it's on Neverynnal's list, but he does seem a bit busy at the moment. I've had SA do a review as well. Ah well.

But if you'd like, feel free to give a review of my level A journey through a digestive tract (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=5828).

I'm also curious as to what you mean in terms of scoring for "difficulty". Can you give some examples of what you mean and what sort of score it would give?

Ok, your level has been added to the queue.

Also, the scoring for "difficulty" works through the following:

a) How "hard" is the level?
b) If I died, how many times?
c) Did I have to repeat the level because I lost every life?

I classify myself a "pretty good" player, so that's how I classify the difficulty of a level. Of course this score will be different to everyone that plays but I give a general difficulty classification from 1-5 (1 being easiest and 5 being hardest).

I don't like this category, because I don't think that difficulty is one of the larger factors for a good level. Just because something is hard, you're going to give it a good score in that department? Someone could rain down explosives on you, making it hard, and so that would make it a good level? I think you should consider removing that category. >_>

Well, really, I don't think you could say a level is bad because it's easy. Likewise, you can't say it's good because it's hard. I'm not saying you should remove the difficulty section, but maybe base it on how balanced the difficulty is?2009-01-01 05:36:00

Maybe I should've rephrased that section better :S

Basically, as BassDeluxe has stated, it is how balanced the difficulty is. For example, does a level start off hard but end of easy--meaning that the level has sort of gone smoothly and not given too much of a challenge to finish it.

OR

Does the level maintain the same level of difficulty all the way through--meaning that the level provides a consistant challenge the whole way through.

Also, I should add. The difficulty section is not averaged in the final scoring, but merely serves as an indicator for Sackboys and Sackgirls that either like or don't like a challenge in the levels they play.

Also one more thing to note. I don't know how you would categorize story and dialogue in 2 seperate categories. To have a story you need dialogue. Doesn't make much sense mate.

Also, many levels don't have a story but are solid levels nevertheless. For instance, I've run into some great puzzler levels as well as great platformers that have no story whatsoever. Should really take a look at this before you start reviewing levels or you might find yourself with some very low scores

Story isn't necessarily synonymous with Dialogue.

For example the premise for the level might be awesome but if characters say stuff like:
"ahh BTW y r u runing lft nd not rite" then the dialogue would obviously be less than the story.

And for levels that have no story but are genuinly good levels like you mention they are automatically passed over to the next section and are given a 5 in Story.

I'd appreciate it if you reviewed my level The Stone Temple. Probably spent the most time on this one out of all my levels. Don't get much useful feedback in game unfortunately :/. If you do decide to review it, I will warn you its pretty tough, but manageable. Basic platformer, kindve has a small story tied into it. No need to play the first one either. Also, play it alone.

My PSN Id is DoctorRamatool. Can probably find it by looking it up via my name quickest, trying The Stone Temple may just bring up random temple levels.

Thanks ahead of time!

The four levels that have been given to me have been added to the queue. As for HamSalad if you want me to review more than one of your levels wait until your first level has been reviewed, only then can you ask for your next level to be reviewed.2009-01-02 03:35:00

You might want to mention this in the original post. From experience with these things, people often don't read every post. You can also edit the title (which is maybe the most reading you will get) by editing the title of the first post. That will change the name of the thread in the forums, so you can say "positions avaliable" or "full but still adding to the list" or whatever.

For those who posted after my "away" post...your levels will not be added to the queue, sorry! If you would still like your level reviewed, then come and ask again at a later date.

The next review will be coming up as soon as I can, but please bear with me...I am having some issues.

Thanks for the understanding, and I hope to play all your levels shortly.

Hey guys, sorry for being away for such a long time. I've had a lot of personal issues I've had to deal with, and I've finally returned. Anyway, all levels that have been posted to be me thus far will be deemed null and void as it has been around 7-8 months since I was here. Anyway, if that person still wants his/her level reviewed, they are welcome to repost it below.

Other than that, I'm open to new reviews, so go ahead and post away.
