Overhead view attacks?

Archive: 3 posts

How do you make an attack for an overhead view level? I'm using a piece of invisible hologram with a controllinator on it for the character, and I'm trying to figure out how to make a sword swing and other melee attacks for it. I've seen some really cool stuff in levels like Fist of Craft Earth by gevurah22 and I was just wondering how you do that sort of thing. I've been messing with it a little by making the sword from hologram and using a wobble bolt to make it swing, but that doesn't seem to work quite right and I have a feeling that it's not the best way to do it, especially if you want to have multiple different attacks. I was hoping someone might have made a level like this or know how to and help. Thanks!2012-03-15 00:12:00

I can help you out. There is a few different ways to make attacks like this.. It depends on what type of level you are making. Most of the time, the attacks are made out of animating holograms. (Multiple pieces of hologram lit up in a sequence to make it look like an animation). If you need help with this then add me. 2012-03-15 00:49:00

You could make your sword move transitionally frame by frame by superimposing pieces of hologram which show the sword at various degrees of it's swing/ thrust, and then use batteries on a sequencer to activate their visibility one at a time in quick succession. Same principle as an animated cartoon really.
