Rather serious thermo glitch after the latest update
Archive: 14 posts
Well, since I updated to the latest version of lbp2, levels I've made prior to the update say "there is too much complexity in this area of the level" even though they were nowere near overheating.and the majority of objects turn into the horrible yellow (!) marks the same thing happens with new levels, after putting barley any things in, the afor mentioned messae appears along with most objects turning into the (!) marks. If I undo, even to the point where there is nothing left inthe level, then put say, one square of cardboard in, it and every other thing added after that are shown as (!) again. Please, if anyone has any advice... Or has seen this before.. Please... Help.. This has totally ruined my game. It occured when I used an emmiter for te first time since te update, and has stuck this way since. | 2012-03-14 22:17:00 Author: Screeno Posts: 153 |
Well I'll confirm that it was not introduced during the last update. I've encountered this problem since the beta and as annoying as it... will usually go away after a while. Only once was I stuck with it on a level, but fortunately I published a locked backup to my earth the day before... so I just reloaded. However there is a possibility that the problem has changed with an update, so keep an eye on it and if it persists record, all your actions (user inputs) and the games actions (screen outputs) and then report them on 'get satisfaction' where Mm or future sony lbp teams will attempts to reproduce the glitch/bug and try to correct the fault. (Although be warned, this can be a slow process depending on the nature of the glitch/bug and if a patch fails testing it will take even longer. Sometimes months later) Sorry this ain't a more helpful answer, but I can only speak from experience. edit: posted this before your bump... but half an hour ain't a long time on here, just remember sometimes (depending on timezones) people won't always be active at the same time as you. I'm sure nobody here wants to see you suffer (and are certainly not judging you for a legitimate concern)... but sometimes we simply don't have answers or are looking at something else. | 2012-03-14 22:48:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma Posts: 1414 |
Did you ever find a way to remove the glit h? | 2012-03-14 22:52:00 Author: Screeno Posts: 153 |
sadly for that one level no... I was forced to reload a backup and just delete the broken version. | 2012-03-14 22:57:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma Posts: 1414 |
Is this happening on every space on your moon, or just the specific space that you had used to build the level where the glitch first occured? | 2012-03-14 23:18:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Is this happening on every space on your moon, or just the specific space that you had used to build the level where the glitch first occured? Yep... Every single space. I even re loaded a profile from ages ago and the gltich was still there. It is to do with the update.. Maybe with the emitters, as they have done something to them aparrenntly. | 2012-03-15 09:50:00 Author: Screeno Posts: 153 |
"!" means there's too much on screen. Stop using so many corners, decos, or anything. Make sure the camera doesn't show so much work too (zoom it in). Also at your second post, stop whinning because you didn't get a response in 30 mins, this isn't life or death you can wait a day. | 2012-03-15 13:17:00 Author: PPp_Killer Posts: 449 |
Hey guys, we all get frustrated over stuff and sometimes overreact. Let's cut him some slack. @Screeno - This is a forum, not a chatroom, so a little time between posting a topic and a responce is normal. In hindsight I'm sure you can see that posting in the tone you did doesn't help the situation and wasn't very nice. If you ask for help, you won't get much if you continue to post like that. Food for thought. | 2012-03-15 13:22:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
I'm still waiting on a response on a thread I posted 6 months ago! https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=59659-Strange-quot-Ghost-Camera-quot-Glitch "!" means there's too much on screen. Stop using so many corners, decos, or anything. Make sure the camera doesn't show so much work too (zoom it in). I think he's saying that it also happens when there's hardly anything there at all. | 2012-03-15 13:27:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
Yep... Every single space. I even re loaded a profile from ages ago and the gltich was still there. It is to do with the update. Strange. Try creating a new local user account on the PS3, and starting a new LBP2 profile with it. If you get the same problem, then the fault lies with the game data. If you don't, then it's with the profile. If it's with the game data, then deleting and redownloading the patches should solve it. If it's with the profile, then that's a bit more complicated. First of all, see what happens if you import a profile you know used to work into the new user account. If that works then, in theory, deleting your profile from the original account, restarting the game, and then importing the same profile ought to work too. | 2012-03-15 18:45:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
Sounds like a crappy thing to happen to you. The complexity warnings sometimes hit my levels but they usually go away after a reload, or after removing unneccessary vertices from complex shapes, but in this case it seems like your game has badly bugged out if you're placing simple cubes in empty level spaces and it's still happening. It might be worth sending a copy of your profile to Mm, so they can diagnose the problem. Also, have you tried deleting and reinstalling your LBP2 game data? (Not your save data...you don't want to lose all your stuff!) Oh, and about your embittered rant...don't worry dude, we all have days when we get over-frustrated and flip out. | 2012-03-15 18:47:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Hello, that happened me sometimes, but isn't cause new update I think. The last time I had that problem was before the last update, I was creating a level with 70% of thermo and that annoying yellow signal didn't appear. Well, I turn of my PS3 cause I had to go, when I came back and turn on my PS3 to still creating... Every levels on my moon had that yellow signal everywhere... That happened me a few times and ALWAYS after turn on my PS3, so I think is a problem of the PS3 in my case, I don't know. Anyway I hope it get repaired to you. | 2012-03-16 14:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
you say it's 'every' level on your moon? or do you mean 'earth'? if it's all the levels on your moon, have you asked anyone who's played them whether they still looked ok? if it's only on your earth, you might want to just publish one and ask for feedback. this way you'll be able to determine whether it's just an unfortunate problem with your saved data or whether it's a glitch that carries over into other peoples LBP2. | 2012-03-16 15:20:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |
It's not with the save data I've now found out, as I have a back up of my profile from every month and they all have the "this area is too complex yadda yadda blah sbldsjodjddidk (!) (!) (!)" glitch regardless. Even if only one cardboard box is put in it turns into a (!) btw it is just with creative mode. My uploaded levels were uploaded waaaay before I got this glitch Edit: well now.. It's just gone.. Creepy. But now, I'm experiencing insanely long load times with everything that needs loading, heck, even a blank level takes an unusual amount of time to load than normal.. So strange. I have less bad bugs with skyrim on my ps3 than in lbp2... That's why I haven't played it for months.. Glitches, glitches.. More glitches... Oh look! It's another glitch! And another! | 2012-03-16 20:34:00 Author: Screeno Posts: 153 |
