Speech Bubble vs. asterisks ******

Archive: 16 posts

Hello everyone!
I apologize in advanced if this subject has already been covered, but I have a question regarding speech bubbles?
On a few of my levels, once they're published, some of the text in speech bubbles is turned into asterisks.
For example, instead of "Over here!" it says "**********"

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to fix?
I've tried republishing, and deleting the mouth and retyping the dialogue. But nothing works...
I welcome any suggestions, and thank you in advanced!

The game views a word in the dialogue as inappropriate, so it replaces the whole bubbles with asterisks.

Try taking a word or two out to see which one's the culprit. Doesn't even have to be a bad word either.

Through random testing we have identified that the word "happened" is apparently a rude word and will activate the in game censoring system.

So just don't say that around little kids.

There are also theories that if a longer word contains part of a swear word, then it will get censored as well. Consider the word banal. It means something that's boring or unoriginal. But it will likely trip the censorship system.

Hey thanks, never thought of that.
I haven't intentionally used any bad words, too sweet and innocent for that, but the words may contain inappropriate words with-in them, I'll have to check...

Thank you, thank you.

Somewhere in the sentence "Now she's cowering by the trapeze, an act shes always done with ease." is an inappropriate word. I had to change the text for that mouth in TImmy's Dream, which was harder than normal because I had to make it rhyme.

Yep you were right, I didn't see anything in the text that seemed inappropriate but once I rephrased it the dialogue appeared after publishing it!
So, yay!! and thanks again!

Ironically enough I encountered this issue today. I published my TSR - Three Stage Rocket, but when I went to check it online, it was getting a lot of asterisks.

I went back to check the dialogue, and found offending word to be "cockpit".

"Control module" just does not sound the same.

The whole censor system is mental, since I'm making an MGS level and I typed 'screwed' and it didn't do anything.2009-01-01 10:48:00

Please tell me this is not so... I sort of need to use that word in my mech levels

I guess I'll see when I publish the first one...

I have had the same problem two times.
One of the bad words Was "OSIRIS". Quite irritating when you can't use it and your level is about Egyptian Gods...
The second was, as Elbee23, "Cockpit". I could not use it in my SpaceOpera level...

Isn't this thread a good start to make a list with the most common forbidden words?
It could be of great help for most of the creators.

We already have:
-Cockpit
-Happened
-Osiris

I just made a thread, and took all the words that were found here and put them in there. If you guys don't mind.

If you find any others, post them there.

I had the same problem as Takelow in my egyptian level, with "Osiris"

I had to change the puzzle! now you have to spell GOD. The reason it was Osiris before was really important. In egyptian mythology, Set, god of chaos, killed Osiris, cut him into pieces, and scattered the remains. Isis, sister and wife of Osiris, searched egypt for the pieces and put him back together. She cast a spell and was able to have *adult stuff* with him, before he was gone for good. Ironically, the only piece never found was his medalion *pee-pee * She then had Horus, god of the wind, who killed Set.

Don't ask how a 14 year old knows this, but I read Wilbur Smith's river god (if you haven't I implore you to go and get it, great book) which explained most of it, and Wiki explained the rest!

*End post* lol

Dkjestrup, there is now a specific thread with a list of words that members of the forum have identified as censored.
Take a look here, it could help :
