How do you make water emit without sound.

Archive: 5 posts

Hey everyone, my friend and I are working on a very big project that has a lot of detail. What we were trying to make is a waterfall made of the water droplets you find in the Tools Bag. The waterfall looked great, but, the sound of the water being emitted totally ruined the effect. Does anyone know a way around this? We tried emiting Multiple droplets at once, but that only reduced the sound a little bit. We tried finding different ways to make waterfalls, but it didn't fit the theme of the level (not realistic enough). One thing we haven't tried is placing Material Tweakers tweaked to "Physichal Sounds: Off". Does this work? Any help would be appreciated. Also, is there any better ways to making a waterfall? Opinions and ideas are welcome. Thanks.2012-03-11 04:21:00

Take your water object and place any sound object on it. Turn the volume all the way down and have it play on creation. That should fix your problem.2012-03-11 06:59:00

What Speedy says. Also, add another silent sound object set to trigger on destruction and you won't have to hear that sound of it disappearing either.

Also works on every object that you destroy with a evaporate effect (set on an emitter or a destroyer) to get rid of the 'pffff' sound, AFAIK.
