Non-Forum LBP Friends

Hidy Ho Sackfriends! I've been pondering something lately so I figured that I would try to get an idea of how others feel about this. I would say that my friends on PSN are split around 75/25 for LBP players who do use the forums and those who don't. I met the friends that are not on the forums through friends requests because they liked my levels or something of that nature. My issue is that there is this huge disconnect for me when I play with these people who are not on the forums. I certainly don't think that they are stupid, and many of them are very talented creators, but I just cannot understand why they are crippling themselves by not at list dipping a toe into the forums. Without the forum side, a player misses so much information and also just listens to rumors that other players spread to them while playing on LBP2, while the truth is sitting on a forum just waiting to be read since someone like StevenI or Spaff has already stated it there. Anyway, I was wondering how other sackfolk feel about this and deal with it. Do you not have friends who are not on the forum? Do you not feel the disconnect that I am talking about? | 2012-03-10 14:40:00 Author: amazingflyingpoo Posts: 1515 |
i'm not really sure how many of my 80 something LBP friends use a forum. i know a good handful of them do at least little bit. but i know another good handful of them don't. i also know some that used to but now don't... it'd take me a long while to find out who does what besides the ones i know for sure about. *mew | 2012-03-10 15:51:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |

Yeah, as long they are active creators or LBP players I get along with them the same as all my good friends. *mew | 2012-03-10 21:39:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
I notice the disconnect. Thank goodness someone else besides me does! I may be elitist for mentioning this, but it feels much better and safer playing with LBPCers, LBLers or Planitariumers than anyone else. I don't trust non forum players, and I don't enjoy playing with them. | 2012-03-13 09:02:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
I have a few sackfolk on my friends list who are not forum members but I rarely ever let them join me, and many of them I have never even met since accepting their friend request. In fact I rarely even meet with the forum members on my list since I'm usually too busy creating stuff to socialise or play. | 2012-03-13 10:03:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
@PoorJack: I feel more comfortable playing with forum sackfolks. I feel like when I'm chatting with a non-forum friend we are coming from two completely different sides of LBP. I will say all sorts of things that they know nothing about which is going on on the forum, and they will often talk about glitches, trends, and clans. There's nothing wrong with the difference, it just makes talking a bit harder sometimes :-) Then again I guess we have plenty of stuff to tell eachother that the other one doesn't know @Ungreth: I agree with you about not socializing much anyway. I prefer to stay alone and just create. However, one issue with non-forum friends is they tend to get REALLY upset if you don't join them. Then again, I guess that there are probably plenty of forum folks who get mad if people don't join them/let them join. It's just different because I can easily pop onto a forum later and chat with someone on the forums, whereas a non-forum member is kind of cut off and perhaps their frustration is slightly justified. | 2012-03-13 20:32:00 Author: amazingflyingpoo Posts: 1515 |
However, one issue with non-forum friends is they tend to get REALLY upset if you don't join them. That's so true. At the weekend I was busy working on a level when this kid started firing join requests and invites at me like a gatling gun which I repeatedly refused, then continued to hound me with PSN messages. Him: "Why can't I join you?" Me: "Sorry, but I'm busy working on a level and I don't have time to play" Him: "When will you have time?" Me: "Probably never...I use LBP for create mode and I don't usually play with people" Him: "You'll run out of ideas soon" Me: "I seriously doubt that...my head is full of them" Him: "Can I help you make your level?" Me: "I work best alone." Him: "Well, can't I just watch you create then?" Me: "NO! JUST **** OFF ALREADY!" | 2012-03-13 23:22:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Oddly I remember someone asking me is he missing much from not browsing the forums, I said no. That's so true. At the weekend I was busy working on a level when this kid started firing join requests and invites at me like a gatling gun which I repeatedly refused, then continued to hound me with PSN messages. What did you expect? Most people who send random friend requests are 10 year olds who think you're the cool creator, I'm running under the assumption these are random though. | 2012-03-14 22:04:00 Author: PPp_Killer Posts: 449 |
