How do you make a spooky level and how do you make a boss?

I'm trying to create a spooky level, but it doesn't look that scary. Like, monsters made of sponge. D: It doesn't have the "suspense" or "thrill" to make it look scary. And the music, can it be like What Are You Waiting For ( Instrumental ) ?

Also, how to make a boss? I dun get what other peoples say.

Thank you very much.

wow thats a lot to explain xD hmmm okay first off:

1. Making Monsters - you don't have to use sponge. try using cardboard or other materials and i can't stress enough to use the Corner Editor Tool when making characters. (its in your tools bag first page, looks like a little arrow?) It helps you fine tune shapes to make them extra scary As well as materials try using stickers on them to get unique colours and shades and get create with decorations too, there's a lot you can do with them.

2. Making it look scary - once you've set out your level i'd suggest use lighting to give an air of spookiness. Try using the global lighting settings (last page of your tools bag) to make it dark or even foggy. Also try using spotlighting. The lights in your goodie bag can be incredibly useful in providing atmosphere. place them high above your level and give them a tweak so they shine a dim spooky ray of light onto the playing section

3. Music - I probably wouldn't use that one, it's more energetic than spooky. Some of the cinematic music is good for setting up moods. If you try and tweak ones like Suspense and the likes you find they're actually Interactive tracks and you can remove some of the more louder instruments. for main tracks I'm not sure, I'm not on lbp at the moment. I'm sure you have an ear for music, just try to pick ones that sound scary have a look through the interactive music too and tweak there sliders.

4. Bosses - now here's a tough one. Planning a boss is always the best thing to do as it can be quite tricky to make. Do some little sketches of what the boss might be and what sort of attacks they might have or what the stage might look like. If you're not too savvy with logic, try asking a friend who is to help you with that aspect as programming different attacks in sequence can be quit tricky. I'm sure you'll find someone who'd be willing to help you.

Combine all of these things and I'm sure you'll have yourself a very spooky level indeed, good luck!

Well, even it takes a lot of time to explain, you still did it.

Thank you for helping, Hallm3!

With the music, sometimes no music is the best music. You could use the evil wind sound from the Earth, Wind & Fire sound box to give it an eerie sound without having an actual song playing. For monsters, stickers and decorations are very useful for the appearance, and be sure to add sounds to make them scarier and more realistic. Atmosphere-wise, add a little fog, use some of the lights that you can place like decorations and make them invisible to make an ambient light (tweak the fogginess to 0-20%, the brightness from 20-80%, and use an eerie or scary color to set the mood) and use directional lights like the spotlight with an anti-gravity tweaker to make rays of light coming down (might be good for a graveyard or something). Pick a background if you want to, and maybe put stickers from "Realistic" on the ground and walls to give it that old, spooky look.

EDIT: You might also find it useful to check out SpiderMaguire's "Afraid" movies, they really show you how scary is done.
