Sticker Emitters and Pressure Sensitive Buttons

Archive: 6 posts

Are both of these possible?

In my top-down level I have stuff that I want to replicate the "Missile explodes and puts dirt stickers everywhere" onto other objects such as buildings, projectiles and vehicles.

For the pressure sensitive buttons I want something that toggles a switch when a button is pressed all the way down, but when it's pressed only slightly you could still have the "strength scale." I would use this to replicate a transmission on vehicles, while still maintaining the ability to drive at a constant speed.

I dont think both of them are possible (for the later unless we are talking about L2 or R2 and Sticks), you could only imitate the first using emmiters and holo or sticker panels but this will be such a good amount of work that i am not sure it worths the hassle...

The second could be easily taking in mind that although all PS3 pads buttons are pressure sensitive, LBP doesnt seem to support them except the left, right sticks and L2, R2 buttons. You can kinda fake them by plugging a forth-back timer on any of the rest buttons, adjusting the time to how long the button should be pressed. Of course this means that method is time sensitive and not pressure. A problem with this though should be that not all LBP components will feel at home with timer's analog output.

Ahh I didn't think about that for the stickers. Is that how they do it on the Community showcase levels? I saw the stickers appearing and disappearing as you walk past them, and I decided I wanted something like that.

Unfortunately the Forward Backward timer won't do what I need it to as holding down the button even a little will fill it and cause the car to accelerate at a set speed.

Assuming you're referring to buttons on the DS3 controller, use the analog signal from either of the L2 or R2 buttons on a Controlinator for the "strength scale". To detect when it's pressed all the way down, you can use a Positional Sequencer (http://wiki.lbpcentral.com/Sequencer#Positional_Input_Action) to determine when then analog output is at 100%.

Not entirely, the back-forth timer alternative (as long as you dont use combiners before it), will work fine if you want to use other buttons (than L2, R2 or sticks) connected to speed or strength mover and still you can adjust the timer so it wont fill fast, obviously if you let the button go the timer will start falling again.

And as Aya said, and i also did previously... in a way : P you can only use R2 or L2 (or left and right sticks) to either speed or strength input of mover if you want to go completely analog (pressure sensitive).

The positional setting on the sequencer is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much.
