[Move or Sixaxis] Lights Out Puzzle Level (Puzzles 01-25)

Archive: 5 posts

EDIT: F4F is over... I wasn't getting any requests, and my free time has all but gone since DreamBuildPlay 2012 started. A mod can delete this thread if necessary - I have another non-F4F thread that seems to be getting more activity anyway...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inspired by the handheld puzzle game "Lights Out". Turn out the 5x5 grid of lights. Has 25 built in puzzles, and a level select option. Please play this level - it took me a long time to make!

I'm reposting this level now that it has new sixaxis support. I'm willing to F4F for a while (until I update this post saying that I'm done). If I'm not supposed to make a new thread for an existing level, please tell me how to change the thread title and its F4F status.

For the purpose of feedback, here is a hint:
- Try pressing the buttons below the highest lit up lights. This usually helps reduce the puzzle to more simple ones.
- If you really want to cheat, use this (http://www.jaapsch.net/puzzles/extra/loclass.txt).

Hello.

Good level. Couple of improvements I would make:

1) More sound effects- just a couple of beeps and boops for the alternating of the lights.

2) The non-Move control works fine, however whilst cycling across one of the rows, I accidently highlighted "Quit Game" and clicked it. This could be prevented if you just had a button (L1 for example) to switch between the game area and the menu.

Presentation was good. The hand drawn text adds a certain harm.

As for F4F. I don't need any feedback on current levels (you're welcome to play them though ), but am I alright to give you a nod when I release my next level?

Thanks a lot for your review. I'll go through your points:
1) I actually have a sound when you press the lights, but the volume is a little low because it was before I added music. I can up it, and add a few others.
2) I tried to avoid the accidental quit issue by forcing the menu to go to Help, but because there is one frame in Level Select, Quit always gets selected the first time... I think I'll just add a time delay to the Quit Game option, since it is such a final decision.

Thanks for noticing the hand drawn stuff. It took me about 1000 undos to draw straight lines with the move...

btw, what do you mean by a nod? I'm fine if you want to mention me, or link to my level or something. And I'll definitely check out your levels.

Maybe it's because your sound affects are local that you don't hear them very well?

"Give you a nod" must be a British only phrase, I'm guessing. Basically means that I'll let you know.

I don't know when I'm gonna release my next level. I've been working on something for a while, but don't know if I'm gonna release it at all now, since it's very problematic.

Oh, okay. Yeah, sure, I'll play your new level if it's out in the next week or two. I'll be away from my ps3 for the next three days (starting tomorrow), so that works out anyway.

The sound effects aren't local, they're just set to like 20% volume. I was getting annoyed during testing (when I didn't have background music), so I set the volume way down.
