Die Hard level

Archive: 11 posts

i want to make a Die Hard themed level but i have no idea where to start!
Do i make it serious or silly? Do i follow the film or make a seperate adventure? Do i go for realistic sets or fun ones? What obstacles could i include? I just don't know. It's my favourite film so i want to do it justice

The entire level will take place in the Nakatomi plaza and you can make several floors each with smaller rooms filled with terrorists and explosives. Make sure you include the parking area on the floor of the level and last but not least...include a bunch of quotes from the movie.

Minigame version - same layout. You're on the roof with terrorists constantly pushing their way up. Supply Al Powell with donuts and he'll send more cops to thin out the enemy forces.

Hi Teenwulf, yes hehe- I loved that film too. What a cool idea. Maybe we could team up on it. Why not have it as following the same style as the movie. Not an exact copy, but with similar characters. Hmmm. how to plan it?

I'd start by watching the movie again
Then get pencil and paper and draw out a plan of the floors and rooms as they appear in the movie. You can inclue all the rooms from the movie and maybe look on the internet for hotel layout ideas, to pan out certain areas like connecting areas.
You could start with the parking lot and build upbuild each floor seperatley and then place each on top of the last. You could just concentrate on the action happening on certain floors to save thermo. Its an interesting project, and I#d love to help out if you like. Just friend me in game and I can join you

Yipppeee-kai-yay.......

Thanks for your ideas guys! I was thinking maybe a top down shooter?!! Would it work do you think? Then as each floor would be seen from above, making the different rooms would look much better and i could have it where some contain hostages, some are locked and you have to find a key, some contain power ups (different guns) and at the end of each floor is a terrorist boss that you have to kill in order to progress to the next floor (maybe via level link?) What do you think? @Sean88 I'll let you know if and when i make it2012-03-03 10:51:00

Hi Teenwolf. Cool. I'd love to help out on this one as its a great idea. Not sure I'd do a top down though... Just it can look more dynamic if You do side scrolling.. Its a good idea,.. but just might take away from the 'skyscraper' feel. JMO. But again, theres a lot of ways to approach the gameplay style. Again, if you need a hand, I'd be glad to elp out.
(if you neec help, just chuck a body out onto the hood of my car lol)

what could you do to make it stand out though? Rather than your standard run left, run right, jump, collect bubbles, kill a bad guy type formula? If it was top down there would be lots of different places to explore. OR MAYBE!.....a combination of the two!2012-03-04 13:26:00

I really can't think of anything that would look good. I'd like to stay as faithful to the film and sets as possible2012-03-05 00:03:00

Hi buddy. Hmmm. I have a few ideas come to mind for different things. What about, keeping the story as in the movie, but with more action and maybe even a multiplayer element. Be on lbp2 in an hour if you'd like to try a few ideas and see
Just add e in game
