(Discussion) Detective Duo

Archive: 49 posts

My idea is a show with two detectives, Sam Johanson and Paul Lemon, who solve cases in Craftworld. It mixes in mystery and comedy into the show, as the two often clash, to be the one who solves it.

The characters:
Sam Johanson: A cowboy, who is normally passive, until a competition is in place, then he is flaring to go. He is often seen as the good cop in the duo, however not the smartest. Fears include clowns, ghosts, bats.

Paul Lemon:
Very self centered and has a big ego to boot. The smartest of the two, tries to be funny, but never is. When ever he says me, I or myself he will always follow by putting his name in:
Example. What do you think happened here Paul?
Paul: Well I, Paul Lemon, believe they cam through that door there...
Paul is definetly the smartest of the two, but often suckered in and loses the perk.

Running gags:

Always will be a chase scene at the very end once the criminal is identified.
As mentioned, Paul will put his name in as much as possible
Sam will always conclude his sentances with the word man
The final clue is always identified by someone else, the victim or an intern for example.
At the very end of the show, Paul will say "another case solved by Paul Lemon and the crew", to which Sam says "we are not called that" to which Paul replies: Too late it has already been established"
Voice Actors required:

I am posting a sample for people to decide if this should be the first episode, if you would like to be a writer, and write the first episode, then please PM your full script. I will post my finish script when I complete it

Fisherman’s Hook
Criminal:
Duke Curbs, an old fisherman who takes out the competition on the harbour.

Paul Lemon
Sam Johanson
Duke Curbs: Crappy Old guy, speaks like a pirate. The main villian
Bartender
Random Drunk Sailor No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 (they don't have to have individual voice actors)
Beginning:
Scene: At sea, on a huge fishing boat.
They are lifting a net of fish onto the boat, until an explosion hits sinking the ship. The camera cuts to a life boat that is a good distance from the boat. On this boat is a fisherman named Duke Curbs.
Duke: Aye, another vessel swallowed by the watery mistress.
He chuckles as fog rolls in, where the fisherman’s boat disappears into the fog while he is laughing.
This sets up the title sequence:

A title fades in the fog, saying detective duo in: Fisherman’s hook.
The camera then fades to debris which spells out: Starring Paul Lemon & Sam Johanson. The camera then pans to another section of debris which spells out: Guest starring (whoever plays the fisherman).
Sam and Paul are hanging out in a bar; Sam is behind the bar, while Paul is standing by the jukebox, listening to music. A man comes into the bar and calls Paul over to the bar.
Man: Listen here boys I got a case for you to handle
Sam: Ok captain, what is it man?
Captain: you and Paul are gonna investigate the recent explosions which have destroyed fisherman boats.
Paul: Ok Captain you can count on us.
Captain: Good luck boys, and be careful.
The captain then leaves the bar while Sam and Paul talk
Paul: Well Sam looks like we’ve got our first case
Sam: I dunno about this one Paul, man
Paul: I, Paul Lemon, know Sam, something is “fishy” about this, do you get it Sam?
Sam: Yes, Paul I get it, but it seems dangerous, I mean explosives are involved.
Paul: Don’t worry Sam, this will be a sinch
The two exit the bar and get into their car, they then drive down towards the harbour
During this the camera has numerous angles of the car driving, which is used for the credits, by passing signs which will include various positions such as: Music by: Scenery by: & .

I should probably post my script here as well.

(At the harbor, Sam and Paul are at one of the piers.)
Paul: This place gives off an aura of terror and cruelty.
Sam: What do you mean, man?
Paul: I, Paul Lemon, mean that the criminal explosions have permeated throughout the entire community, creating an atmosphere of unjustness and malevolence that fills me with trepidation.
(Sam stares at Paul blankly.)
Paul: Can’t you feel it too? Why, everything seems to tremble with fear; the streets, the docks, the water-
Sam: Don’t mention water, man. That stuff is scary. It electro-(Sam has trouble pronouncing electrocutes) us, man.
Paul: Ha! Water does not scare me!
Sam: You’re totally terrified of water, man.
Paul: Am not! Here; I, Paul Lemon, will prove to you this is not so by talking to the water!
Sam: This is stu-
Paul: Oh, great watery water! I, Paul Lemon, have come to beseech you with a question! How have these unjust explosions affected you? Also, can you recall with your water memory which criminal caused these explosions?
(The water does water stuff.)
Paul: I see. People are dumping too much garbage into you!
(The water does water stuff.)
Paul: And all those selfish fish and corals making their homes inside you without asking…
(The water does water stuff.)
Paul: Yes! I, Paul Lemon agree! You must be liberated!
Sam: Are you done yet-
Paul: VIVA LA WATER! Sam, let us join forces and free water from her burdens!
Sam: What about the case, man?
Paul: Oh yeah…the case. I guess we should take care of that first.
Sam: Let’s go to the bar. I’m thirsty, and you know what water does to us, man.
(The two start to head off-screen. Paul, just before he goes off-screen quickly dashes back to the pier, whispers, “I, Paul Lemon, will come back for you,” and leaves.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(The two are at a crowded bar, full of drunk and rowdy sailors.)
Paul: We should be able to get a lot of information from these people.
Sam: I’m thirsty. I’ll have a drink instead, man.
Paul: Fine, you lazy bum. But when this case is solved, they will be thanking me, Paul Lemon.
(Paul goes off-screen to presumably interview people)
*Bartender: Say, you don’t look like you’re from around these parts. Where did you come from?”
(On a side note, I’d like all the people with a * by their name to talk in some sort of slang with a sort of accent, to show they are locals. Like say, if a line is “What are you doing here?” you could say, “Whacha doin’ here, laddie?” This is just an example. If that is too demanding, you can just drop this idea.)
Sam: Sorry, but that’s top secret, man.
*Bartender: Eh? (You can manipulate this line as much as you want as long as it gives the same meaning.)
Sam: See, I’m with this guy named Paul, and we’re detectives from an agency in (wherever the two came from), and we want everything about us to be secret, especially the fact that Paul lives on 724 Lariat Drive and can talk to water and the fact that I live on 230 Cowboy Street and love to drink beer, man.
*Bartender: Oh, so you like to drink beer, huh?
Sam: Yeah, man.
*Bartender: Well, then; can I interest you in a competition?
Sam: Name your game, man. (I’m sorry, I suck with slang.)
*Bartender: Simple. Whoever drinks the most mugs of beer in a minute gets to write loser (or whatever slangy insult you please) on the loser’s forehead.
Sam: It’s on, man.
*Random Drunk Sailor No. 1: Hey, they’re doing a (slang name for a beer-drinking competition.)
*Random Drunk Sailor No. 2: (Slangy synonym for “cool)! Chug! Chug! Chug! (Or whatever slangy synonym you please)
(All the sailors start joining in saying “Chug” (or the synonym), so soon everybody is saying it. (I understand this effect is hard to produce. The camera will be focusing on Sam and the Bartender, so you won’t have to animate any sailor’s mouths. However, if this is too hard to produce, you can drop the whole thing at Random Drunk Sailor No. 2 and just skip this part.)
Sam: You’re going down, man.
(Sam and the bartender grab a glass; this effect will be produced with a logic expert, I don’t want grabinators. They are about to drink the camera suddenly cuts to Paul, who has just finished interviewing somebody.)
Paul: Wait! Don’t drink that! Don’t you realize that beer is 97% water?
(Sam gasps and quickly puts the drink down. However, the bartender proceeds to drink anyway. When the first drop of beer touches him (you can do this in a very dramatic way, with Paul yelling “noooo…” in slow motion), he gets electrocuted. The sailors gasp.)
*Random Drunk Sailor No. 3: Hey, they killed the bartender!
*Random Drunk Sailor No. 4: Yeah, that’s terrible! How do we get our beer now?
*Every Drunken Sailor: LET’S KILL THEM! (Once again, this effect might be hard to produce. If it is too hard, then you could just have one sailor say it.)
Paul: Wait! Stay back! I, Paul Lemon, have a water pistol! (Paul whips out a water pistol with a flashy, logic-y effect, and loud gasps are heard.)
Paul: Nobody try anything! If anybody comes close-(Paul and Sam slowly start backing towards the door, but Paul accidentally trips over a mop, and the water pistol falls and breaks on the floor, splashing water everywhere and electrocuting a few people. There is a short silence.)
Paul: Run.
(Paul and Sam run screaming out of the bar, chased by an angry bunch of drunken sailors. At this point, the thermometer is probably filled up a lot, so you could activate the link for the next part now.)

Thankyou for reading an post if you want to be a part of this project

We need a script 1st Pixel before anything else, hollywood movies begin with scripts, they then gather a team and actors, not the other way around.

I have posted a taster of a script which I will update

I think I may be willing to help. I have worked on about 7 movies, and have vast knowledge of game sequencers, movie cameras, sackbots and their behaviors, and magic mouths. I am also very good with logic. If it's okay, I'd like to join as a writer or a logic expert. I also can be a voice actor if need be.

I may be able to help if you'd like. I'm pretty good with logic (Better than the average Sackthing) and I could also help with the script writing. I could also help with the scenery building and costume design if needed. Just say the word and I'll begin working on a sample script.

Also, my PSN should be under my username. If it's not, my username is my PSN.

Woah, nice to see lots of people joining this is brilliant. Ok:

@ Kalawishis if you could write that would be great, nice to see an experienced movie maker wants in, and you could do logic as well, but mainly need a script. PM it to me, I am still working on the one in the thread

@itz image erm I would add you, but I don't know what you could offer this project

@ Evil Chaos0327 Yes if you wanna do scenery that would be great, could you take any scene I have wrote on the script and make it, then post a picture here, its just for reference to see your ability

@TradeMarkSG: Yeah just popped up with four which is brill, logic would be great. As for scenery either make one scene I have wrote in the script or after you write your script, you could make a scene from that.

To writers, please use the example of the good script, this will aid myself and others to what is happening, the more detail the better, I will read the entire thing, nice to see some creators for this, I will update this thread later once everyone is willing to help

Basically the special effects and stuff.

Props such as cars and stuff during chases will need to be well programmed, this is where the logic expert will be required

Ah. In that case I'll be able to help. But I'll probably need someone else to help in case I can't figure something out (I'm advanced with logic, I've just never had much experience with vehicles.) So I' can handle the SFX, but I'll most likely need someone to assist me with the vehicles.2012-03-09 22:55:00

Ok, Skater I will look when I am on, but send me a pic too via PM.

Also I think positions have filled up pretty quickly, all I see remaining are voice actors and musician, I predicted as much. So musicians, I have a friend who could make it, but his time is limited, which means I am looking for one to help out.

Voice actors will be requested. Once the script is completed, I will post the list on this thread. Check back when it has been updated, thanks

Hi!
I am working on my script, however, I am not accustomed to working with scripts (I usually create the story as I go along), so it may take longer than usual, and may not be like other scripts.

Uh. Seems to me it would be better to set "Teams" or something like that. Like have a central level (Yours, Rob) where you can host a "Build session" for 2 or 3 of us to work together. that way we won't have any interfering, conflicting or not matching situations. Especially in the logic department. that way everything can be spaced, placed and designed based on the others work. It will also allow each ones skills to strengthen the others.2012-03-16 23:59:00
