MM Picks vs Community forum picks
Archive: 11 posts
Hello there central chums, I have a discussion for you all. My question is what do you prefer MM Picks or Community forum picks, like showcase here on LBPC. Post your reasons why and what you believe overall is best. | 2012-02-26 13:42:00 Author: Robmandx Posts: 515 |
Forum picks Reasons: Everyone has a chance to be featured... in contrast to Mm picks where only people known to Mm get picked (not that it's their fault... they can't know everybody obviously) Spotlight crew provide feedback on why the level was picked and often discuss them further in the threads. Nice looking Hubs... and comments from Hubbie XD Frequency of picks. (More to come [when / if] I [remember / think] of it) | 2012-02-26 13:55:00 Author: ForgottenEnigma Posts: 1414 |
well I am a little biased, but Community picks for sure. They come more often than the MM picks so there is always a healthy does of quality levels to play. Plus we're getting them from numerous sources, here, LBL, LBN, and Planetarium, so we get a wider variety of types of levels to play. Let's see, 1 pick a month (if that) to play vs. 25+ picks a month to play. Yeah, I'm going with community picks. | 2012-02-26 13:59:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
I expect most people to say the community picks. But Mm picks are far more sought after because: 1. They are picked by the best developers ever! 2. You get a constant stream of plays that last far longer than the community picks. 3. "Most" of the time, you need to make a really high quality level. One that has an epic wow factor. While for community picks. the standards aren't so high. 4. You get a nice pink shiny ribbon around your level ^^ 5. Most people in the community aren't "hardcore lbp fans", so they don't go to the websites and forums and stuff like us. 6. There are SO MANY websites that picks levels, and no one has the time to play all the levels that get picked, so by instinct we want to play "the best" out of the crowd, and with MM picks, it gives a much narrower view of epicness. If the MM picks weren't picked by one person and were more frequent, MM picks by far! | 2012-02-26 15:57:00 Author: comishguy67 Posts: 849 |
Hm, I'd have to say Community. Nothing against Mm Picks, it's just that Community picks kind of branch out to a wider variety of players. I can understand why there aren't a frequent number of Mm Picks, Mm's busy obviously. However, WE aren't usually busy if we're playing. It also provides many more opinions and much more feedback. I have noticed that a LOT of the previously Mm Picked peeps out there are getting a second or third pick more often. It's a bit...boring. I kinda want to see variety, something that doesn't have to reach that sky-high bar to get noticed. I also would say that Mm Picks do indeed stream much more attention (SOMETIMES) than Community picks, but that's not to say Community picks don't get a lot of attention. I myself wasn't even spotlighted, simply mentioned, and my level got quite an amount of plays in a short period of time. I might add that they haven't even seen me before, so that's a good thing for unnoticed creators. In addition, if the community picks the levels (at least the 'thread' part of the community), we'll have what we wanted instead of that poopy poop that farts its way onto the CP. Sadly, that isn't the case. But still! So, again, I have to go for Community. I find it more effective and satisfying. | 2012-02-26 17:36:00 Author: Sackpapoi Posts: 1195 |
I say the wonderful OmegaSlayerAwesomeGreenNosePickles are the best but I might be biased | 2012-02-26 17:38:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
What about this for an idea. Get all the Forums (LBPC, LBL, LBN and Planetarium) to synchronize when they do their Spotlights(or Picks, or whatever they're called.). Get all the picks integrated into the game like LBPC's Spotlights Out of those, an MM Pick is made from each site's spotlight How about that? (On topic, I feel the Community picks are better, for all the reasons mentioned by others that I'm too lazy to re-type.) Cheers, flyinhawaiian | 2012-02-26 19:19:00 Author: flyinhawaiian Posts: 357 |

Without going deep into the matter... If it would be an easy thing teher would be only one forum http://www.majorspoilers.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05a/highlander2.jpg | 2012-02-26 19:40:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
MM picks are fun but I think I like Community Spotlight levels more consistently. Though to be fair, I also play more spotlights in general, with MM's being once in a long while. I agree on the exclusiveness of being an MM level but, as with any ranking, I still see other levels that I feel are better than the ones picked. If this is going to be the case, there might as well be many high quality levels listed, with MM's being nice novelties. | 2012-02-26 20:30:00 Author: xxMATEOSxx Posts: 1787 |
So it seems the majority favor community forum picks, but anyone else please do post your opinion | 2012-02-27 21:27:00 Author: Robmandx Posts: 515 |
Without going deep into the matter... If it would be an easy thing teher would be only one forum With no competition though it'll quickly devolve into a circle jerk rife with office politics and other such ********. | 2012-02-27 22:05:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
