Aura: Visionless Dreaming

Hi everyone! I'm back again to try and give you a unique new experience. Its a mix of many type of gameplay styles in one. Its more so a waypoint level...I think lol. Its hard to explain. I can say its different than moth of my levels for sure. I've been working on this off and on since the psn outtage last year but really got into it the last few months. Alot of time went into this so I really hope you all enjoy it. Wow. Fantastic looking Lightmare! Totally got it Q'd! | 2012-02-25 02:04:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |
Unique, visually enticing, wonderful game play and puzzling, good replay value (speed mode), fitting music, and did I miss anything?.. Oh ya one of the best new levels! Its nice to see a unique level out there that's incredibly well put together. I also enjoyed having the great visuals without the overuse of move pack decorations. And I almost forgot, there's a storyline to go with it as well. I may not have the best judgement, but anyone that with knowledge of creating or of great levels will appreciate the effort and time put in to this one. Great Job! The only problem I had was the long grabbing sequences. I may just have lead the character in the wrong angles, but it was slightly agitating falling at the part in which you scale the ceiling with a series of three bounce pads below. Probably just a personal failure though =D Regardless 10/10 and can't wait to see what's next! | 2012-02-25 03:57:00 Author: stryder12 Posts: 66 |
This is a really clever stage, I liked it a lot. I thought that the jump and throw images could have been larger though. Not really a big deal, but they were a little tricky to see. I never managed to get a chain of gums going but think that the idea of three jump points will really add to a sped run so that is a nice touch. I was sort of expecting to be able to also drop three waypoints the same way. I won't lie though it feels like a bit of a tease as I was getting to grips with the mechanics and the level was over! I'm guessing that there is more to come and an underground mine would be quite interesting to play through. | 2012-02-25 05:03:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
Awesome level bro, great design and concept. Epic visuals, controls were tight, and the story is very intriguiging. I hope this does well so you can keep making more. 10/10. If you haven't played this yet do it now. | 2012-02-25 06:14:00 Author: Alley_Cat_8633 Posts: 108 |
@ shookie, bio and gray I do hope you all enjoy it. Its way different than my other levels @ stryder12 Wow man! Thanks for the great review! Yea the ceiling thing can get annoying. One tip is that she can follow it from long distances. So you can go near the pad and have her follow there. That would allow you to set up her next moves @ Mr_Fusion Thanks Mr Fusion! Glad you enjoyed it! Hmm thats a good idea! Ill try to get some better images going. Also yes the 3 jumps is very useful when in speed run. There are alot of places you can get her set up before moving on. I did have it that you could have 3 follow points but from testing it resulted in players jumping to thier death more so it was taken out...but it could make a come back...maybe . Also the level was much larger than it was now but I took a big chunk out. Players that didn't have any problems were spending about 30 mins or more in there so I didn't want it to drag on. You'll get more of a challenge and more varied gameplay in the next level for sure > But not soon. Need a break from her XD @ Alley_Cat_8633 Thanks bro! Thanks for testing it and help getting all the kinks out. Glad you enjoyed it | 2012-02-25 13:31:00 Author: L1GhTmArE Posts: 519 |
Oh you got the level done? cool, i'll play it later today. *mew | 2012-02-25 13:34:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |

Very intriguing level to say the least Lightmare. If it's a level made by Lightmare, then no way will I pass up a chance to play it. As always the level is full of detail and original gamelplay. I really appreciate the simple instructions given in the beginning with trials to be given before moving on. As I am a bit slow, any learning curve is much appreciated. As for the gameplay, like I said, very original and fun at that. I did have a small problem when the girl is grabbing on the clay ceiling and having to use the Aura to guide her accross. I felt if the Aura is not placed exactly, then she tends to miss and fall to her demise. I really wanted to finish the level but got called away in the middle of it. I plan to finish it, but wanted to give you a heads up on that issue I had and hopefully it's just me having that problem. Well done | 2012-02-25 17:15:00 Author: tripple_sss Posts: 250 |
Hmmm I would have to see how you placed it. When grabbing she follows based on where the follow aura is at. So if its below she will try to get down to it and if its straight she'll go straight. The edges of the clay make her auto-ungrab though if thats the case. Hope that helps some on how it works | 2012-02-25 19:05:00 Author: L1GhTmArE Posts: 519 |
Ah, cool. Been waiting on this one a while. I began to wonder if "Aura - 99% Complete" was actually the name of the level. | 2012-02-25 19:28:00 Author: CYMBOL Posts: 1230 |
LIGHT! YOU DID IT! You made a level I could play without screaming! In all seriousness, this was spot on mate. Visuals, audio, gameplay, absolutely flawless logic... the mind boggles. I loved every gorgeous second of it. I know you've been working on this forever now, and the hard work shows. A* | 2012-02-25 19:29:00 Author: rialrees Posts: 1015 |
Yay! My multiquote is working XD Ah, cool. Been waiting on this one a while. I began to wonder if "Aura - 99% Complete" was actually the name of the level. Im glad your back man! Also yes that was the actual name but some friends compelled me to change it at the last second. LIGHT! YOU DID IT! You made a level I could play without screaming! I hope most people like the slow pace and almost care free environment. Also thank for the nudge to get it done XD | 2012-02-25 20:38:00 Author: L1GhTmArE Posts: 519 |
I'm away from my PS3 atm (which is rare...LOL), but I just wanted to chime in and say "excellent level"! I played a great puzzle level awhile back with a similar command-issuing sackbot concept by @WareHare, I believe... But to make a surprisingly fluid and forgiving platformer out of this concept was genius! Looking forward to your next level project! | 2012-02-25 23:32:00 Author: Unknown User |
Well, that was some really interesting gameplay! I don't think I've ever really played anything like it, LBP2 or otherwise, and I can definitely see why it would be hard to explain. If there was one thing that I won't be forgetting anytime soon that would be the characters. I really liked the friendly banter between them, and it was very well written. And for such unique gameplay, I was glad that there weren't any glitches--at least, none that I encountered. There was definitely a learning curve (especially when it came to maneuvering on the bounce pads) but it felt strangely natural after a while--kinda like playing a Strategy-RPG in a way. Planning out your moves, then seeing what happened, but with the ability to adjust if necessary. The level design was beautiful, and the music was tailor-fit to it. I only have one real complaint, and that was that is ended abruptly. I was finally getting the hang of it, had her hop onto that mine cart, and then...it was over! But since you said that there might be more in store, I guess I can accept it Also, I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem, but I couldn't seem to get one of the signs to work. It was near the two large spinning wheels, I think. I had Aura hovering in front of it and pressed L1, but nothing happened. Or maybe I was just mistaking something else for a sign. | 2012-02-26 02:26:00 Author: Mysteltain Posts: 59 |
it was a really nice level. hmm only 1 or 2 things i found i did not like but at the same time it was not really a problem. like one was i feel it was unneeded to have to point on her and push triangle in order to make her jump... if it were me I'd would had made that little more simple. i keep forgetting while i was playing it that i needed to do both. but yeah i enjoyed it real wall nevertheless. one more thing, thougth it's not anything you can really fix, i wish LBP had more nice sounding random female voices, I hear the Eve voice all the time on LBP2... *mew | 2012-02-26 09:16:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |

I will have to search that level for sure and give it try Well, that was some really interesting gameplay! I was hoping it wasn't too hard to learn the pad timing parts. Good to hear after a few tries its easy I'm sorry it ended early XD I didn't want it to drag on for some people. Also it was more of a learning level so level 2 will definately have more gameplay and will be wayyyy longer....and have a boss battle it was a really nice level. hmm only 1 or 2 things i found i did not like but at the same time it was not really a problem. like one was i feel it was unneeded to have to point on her and push triangle in order to make her jump... if it were me I'd would had made that little more simple. i keep forgetting while i was playing it that i needed to do both. but yeah i enjoyed it real wall nevertheless. one more thing, thougth it's not anything you can really fix, i wish LBP had more nice sounding random female voices, I hear the Eve voice all the time on LBP2... *mew Ahhh fume you don't have to hit triangle on her to jump! If you hit triangle outside of her zone/body an arrow will show. You can also have 3 out at one time. If you have her follow to the arrow she will jump from that spot...as long as she touches the arrow. It was explained in the tutorial ingame XD. Also the that was the only voice that fit her. I didn't want her to sound like the queen, country-ish or like a pig XD. Im happy you enjoyed it though and appreciate you playing Fun, unique level. I love the way it plays, and it looks very nice! You must have put a lot of effort in it Thanks man! Yes alot of effort. The concept started way back during the psn outtage XD. Anywho, glad you had fun with! Also I updated the level with the following changes: Made bigger Jump and Throw icons (suggested by Mr. Fusion. Thanks!) Made ceiling grabs longer so less falling to floor or death. Also means it possible to get quicker times in speed run. Made respawn time .1 secs (Timers seem to lag in high thermo so seems it might still take 1 sec XD ) Fixed a multiplayer glitch where the start up menu wouldnt work. Other small changes. Thanks everyone for playing and suggestions to improve it. It's very much appreciated! | 2012-02-26 15:09:00 Author: L1GhTmArE Posts: 519 |
Hey bro! Just wanted to chime in to say how much I enjoyed this one. I think it's great that you did something completely different than your norm, and that it turned out awesome! As expected lol. Peace!! | 2012-02-27 15:54:00 Author: smasher Posts: 641 |
Sooo good Light! You just keep knocking out brilliant levels one after the other. Had a bit of an issue with the second grab ledge, first one worked smoothly, but that one forced a couple of restarts. Also, you can fall down behind the the first two bounce pad lillies and get stuck, I imagine you'd have already done itif it was possible, but what about a plasma thin there? | 2012-02-28 20:15:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |
Another brilliant job, L1GhTmArE! The visuals are great thanks to polished materials, neat lighting, and excellent use of decorations. The gameplay where players guided the blind girl to certain obstacles are unique, too. Also, another great musical masterpiece from Velvet--Audio. One minor problem is that the blind girl sometimes doesn't grab and move on a ceiling right, but the rest is well done. Looking forward to part 2. VISUALS: 5/5 SOUND: 5/5 GAMEPLAY: 5/5 OVERALL: A yay, heart and positive review. | 2012-02-28 23:52:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |

Really?! lol wth im sure I sealed it off. Are you sure it was behind or in the same layer? Had a bit of an issue with the second grab ledge, first one worked smoothly, but that one forced a couple of restarts. One minor problem is that the blind girl sometimes doesn't grab and move on a ceiling right, but the rest is well done. Hmm did this only occur when you were trying to move right and trying to grab the ceiling at the same time or did it happen like at the end of the grab parts? Need to know so i can figure out a way to make it easier without it looking fake because right now everything works by logic and no movers, followers, ect. Also if she was was stuck in 1 spot and kept grabbing theres a sign ingame saying just put a follow aura on her. Thanks for playing and reporting the mishaps guys! Very much appreciated! | 2012-02-29 23:29:00 Author: L1GhTmArE Posts: 519 |
Hmm did this only occur when you were trying to move right and trying to grab the ceiling at the same time or did it happen like at the end of the grab parts? This same thing happened to me. I sent it to you on PSN. It sometimes happens after dragging the box to the left and bouncing up the bounce pads to the left. When she bounces on the last bounce pad and grabs onto the ceiling, sometimes she goes into a weird mode where she doesn't stop trying to grab. The last time i played, when I tapped on her she stopped doing it. | 2012-03-02 15:14:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
This level looks amazing, got it queued up can't wait to give it a go | 2012-03-07 19:59:00 Author: Unknown User |
